This richly illustrated book overs the career of a pop music legend, form the child star whose infectious lead vocals catapulted the Jackson 5 into the spotlight, tot he feeding frenzy that surrounded the announcement of a new tour in summer 2009. Michael Jackson was just 11 years old when "I Want You Back" topped the Billboard chart in 1970. Countless hits followed both with the Jackson 5 and during his solo career. His 1979 platinum album Off the Wall yielded four Top Ten hits, but it was his follow-up, Thriller, which became the best-selling album of all time, earning Jackson an unprecedented seven Grammy awards. The superstar is credited with redefining the music video, with Thriller being widely regarded as the best music video ever, while his famous "moonwalk" became his signature move, just as his single sequined glove became his trademark look. Michael Jackson had charisma. He was a flamboyant showman, a dazzling performer who owned the stage. His death brought down the curtain on a turbulent life, but did not end his reign as the King of Pop. He lives on through his extraordinary body of work, which will ensure that his regal status lives on.

Michael Jackson, The Man In The Mirror was very interesting, It talked about Michael's life and his achievements. He talked about The Jackson Five and his own solo career. The theme of this book, In my opinion was that you can be whatever you want. Michael received a lot of criticism from everyone, but he never gave up on his dream. The author's purpose of this book was to inform the reader about Michael Jackson's life events and how he overcame different obstacles. Tim Hill (The author) did very well explaining and entertaining the reader about Michael's life. He gave his own personal opinion along with Michael's fans opinion. The style of this book is narration because the events started from the beginning, Tim explained Michael's life from beginning to end. My opinion of this book is that I enjoyed reading it. It taught me to reach for my dreams.I liked that Tim Hill gave his own opinion along with the facts, and I enjoyed the pictures. I didn't like how the author was more focused on his career then his own life. Michael was a very unique performer who is still remembered today because of his charisma.
This book i give a 5 star because it tells us how Michael Jackson was raised, and how he bacame in the music world. This book even talks about what really happend durning and after the trial it is an outstanding book I really suggest you to read it if you whant to know alot about Michael Jackson.I also liked this book when it was talking about how funny Michael was and how Michael Jackson always wanted to be an actor.
mostly a picture book with captions a book i bought at the second hand store it has nice pictures 2-4 from each year of his life with a odd pocus on pictures with other celebs
Do not know if reading descriptions of photographs counts as reading a book, but I did read the descriptions in addition to viewing the photographs in Tim Hill's coffee table book, Michael Jackson:The Man in the Mirror 1958 - 2009. Quite likely I have already seen and 'read' this book.
Michael's personal life and behemoth career presented here inside out in a beautiful, artistic and heart-touching way . Much more to read in the pictures than the side-notes ... I just love it . Rest in peace , King of Pop !
This book is rich with so many beautiful pictures of Michael from his childhood Into his adulthood and unfortunately his funeral I love the way this book explains his whole life throughout the years.
The book serves primarily as a collection of high-quality glossy photos of Michael Jackson's career from Jackson 5 right up until his preparation for his This Is It tour. The photos are coupled with short biographical snippets that give you a vague idea of where the performer was in both his career and personal life.
There's a few strange choice photographs which could have been excluded; a few were really poor quality, often being too fuzzy, whilst others served little purpose - being pages and pages of alternate takes or angles of the same event. The editing's a little lazy in places with some captions contradicting previous ones.
Although unfortunately this seems to be a cash-in on MJ's inopportune death (there was A LOT of similar 'archives' of MJ that popped the year Michael Jackson died), the book is a decent summary of his life and is recommended for those wanting to find out a little more about the musician. However, how much of this could serve as a sacred "unseen archive" to the die-hard fans already familiar with his life is debatable.
MJ.. you are the most beautiful, innocent, and plagued soul. You are very much loved and missed.
I cried through the entire read. I admire the man, have nothing but sadness for anyone who thinks anything negative of him and dare anyone to be as giving and selfless as he was.
What a world we would live in if there were more giving, loving souls such as his!
Very nicely produced; images ordered chronologically, with short blurbs outlining superstar's biography. Biographical chronology and discography, sorted by solo v. group (Jackson 5) and album v. single v. compilation / re-release, all very useful.
I read this during my MJ obsession phase that began shortly before he died and I really enjoyed it. It provides a lot of information about his life and music :).
