The Perfect Spot by Robert J. Blake is a sweet, outdoorsy story about a precocious little boy and his father searching for the perfect place for his father to paint.
My favorite illustration is the scene where they’re sitting beside the waterfall. There’s something especially calm and honest about that moment, paired with the line, above… It captures the quiet kind of connection that happens outside.
The story itself is charming. There’s nothing quite like wandering through the woods as a child—finding bugs and amphibians, climbing around rocks, and eventually discovering a waterfall. The book captures that sense of exploration and stillness well.
A sweet story about an impatient dad and his curious son. This is a good book to remind us all of a few things: 1. Nature is amazing. Stop and appreciate it when you have the opportunity. 2. Your kids are only kids for a short time. Play with them while you still can! 3. Sometimes the "perfect" spot/situation appears when you stop looking so hard for it.
An artist dad and his adventurous son head out to find the perfect spot. Love all the little details about animals you can find in nature. A great story about father and son connection!!🥰
