Serina arrived at school one day to discover someone had scribbled the lyrics of a love song all over her desk... and the culprit turned out to be one Mizukawa-sempai, a boy one year her elder. He was awkward at first, but Serina was too intrigued not to pursue him. Before she knew it, she'd asked him out -- and now they're well on their way to their next step as a couple. After Valentine's Day comes White Day! The new school year is just about to start, and Serina and Mizukawa-sempai find themselves that much closer. But you'll never guess who's in her class this year!! With each passing second, Serina's heart beats a little faster!
Another great addition to the series in which Mizukawa showed his more vulnerable side. It was fantastic to see him grow in this vol, and the presentation of his uncertainty helped flesh his character out more than previous volumes had.
I completely loved seeing Mizukawa's family finally being shown! The brother being a jealous meanie was a nice bonus too. Surprisingly, Serina held her own against him, so she's not as much of a pushover as I'd previously thought. Also, I really didn't expect Serina to be the one to up the ante in the relationship, but she hardly hesitated to please her boyfriend. It's intriguing to see how her character is changing and her boldness is increasing as she grows alongside the relationship.
The reappearance of the ex was a wasted opportunity as she didn't provide any new drama, instead she seemed to roll over and be nice. Maybe that's what some readers would've preferred, but for me I find there's been so much sweetness in this manga series so far that I'm sort of waiting and hoping for some spice. Not that the ending didn't provide a hint of the spice that's surely coming in You Got Me, Sempai!, Vol. 5...
I'm scared.
More of a 3.5 star rating; I love how cute they both were in this volume. I’m confused as to why Mizukawa’s younger brother has an issue with Serina, but a part of me feels like it’s some sort of jealous thing. I’m very curious to see how things play out during the Sports Festival and with the how this volume ended.
Super cute! I appreciate the author for showing how much effort both of these characters are putting into their relationship—it isn't the one-sided effort on the girl's part that we often receive. Even the so-called rival characters are well developed and portrayed as real people! You wouldn't expect such great character work from such short volumes, but here we are.
I can sense some tension arising from characters around the main couple, and I don’t know how to feel about it. I guess the early days of bliss when dating someone can’t last forever in shojo manga series...
