In this epic installment, Ruin's disobedience will cost him his greatest love--his wife. In his fury, he wages war against all of heaven, hungry for nothing more than eternal death. But instead, he's captured by a mysterious foe who enslaves him to prepare him for the greatest war of all.
I’m a husband and author, and I may be a little religious about both. I like writing hot sex and encapsulating it in the delicate white silk of devotion, commitment, and psychotic obsession.
I honestly couldn't stomach this book. I was invested in the others and so the twist in this one had me cringing all the way through. I know people were ecstatic and loving this book but really the way ruin is being forced into these feelings doesn't sit well with me. Atleast with what happens at the end of book 3 I believed in the love he had for Is. And was hoping that there was going to be some positive outcome for them, some sort of loophole because this fourth book was just cruel and soo unforgiving to their 'sacred joining'. I didn't even see the point in emphasising how beautiful their link was and how everyone on the side of 'good' was so happy about it, just to have it twist the way it did. I won't be picking up the next book, won't be able to stomach reading how someone who classified themselves as a man is being forced to 'be a woman' just for a prophecy when Isabel could've easily been brought back (reincarnation happens or a spell sheesh angels from the 'good' side, even God could duh!) for the prophecy since it is paranormal. And has to do with God and a biblical prophecy, miracles should've been happening regarding their happily ever after, preserving their 'sacred joining'. Like why did I waste my time, that I could've used on another story, with ruin and Is, it's like a slap in the face. Well that's the end of my mini rant
Wow... Lucian has done it again. What an emotional rollercoaster- 50% in and I was crying and upset. Trying to figure out where he was taking these characters now. Then the anger will hit you along with Ruin and you'll be pissed at our loving Caliber. We are introduced to another key player in this story (Sam) who will win your hearts no matter how hard yuo try to fight it. Great continuation to the series- I can't wait for the next installment!
There is shift, a deep chasm left on earth when Isadore is taken from Ruin. Lost in this realm without his proper link, his wife and beloved, evil threatens to over take.
Forced to link with another, Ruin rather burn Earth to ashes before doing that. But the pain and agony create such a darkness that a fight to the death is at hand. Souls are bargained for and when Ruin finds out who bought his soul from the devil himself, the event is explosive!!
Cliffhanger is the name of Lucian Bane’s game and this one does not disappoint!!
I don't even know where to begin! First, I was completely blown away by this book in the best possible way! It's very difficult to write this review without spoilers, but it will be spoiler free! To say that unexpected things happen would not be at all surprising for this series. Lucian's stories have never been predictable. He has already introduced us to some pretty bizarre characters with some very unique features and talents in the prior Ruin books. This story has even more Lucian-spawned paranormal freaks colliding into Ruin's world and creating chaos for he and Isadore. I don't want to give away details of the storyline, but I can say that this book totally rocked my emotions, then grabbed hold of my senses, and I could not put it down until I read the very last page. But it was not the end. Oh no, the stage is set for more mind blowing events and masterful story telling by the truly gifted wordsmith, Mr. Bane.
I honestly don't know whether I love or hate Lucian Bane right now. This book had my smiling and crying. Not an easy feat. And I don't know how he manages to outdo each of the previous books with the subsequent one. They just get better and better.
In The Turning he introduces us to Sam, a new character, whom I immediately loved. He takes us on another wild ride with twists and turns that you literally have to read to believe.
I can't say to much more without giving it away, but if you haven't started this series, you NEED to! You will be hooked on Ruin once you do.
Sweet Bejeebers!!!! I just finished 'The Turning', which is the fourth book in Lucian Bane's "Ruin" series and I'm here to tell you this man is a master word teller. This book immediately picks up where book three, 'The Judgment' left off and it doesn't stop until the end when I sat here with my mouth open and my eyes wide. The entire book elicited a plethora of emotions that just kept rolling from one to another. There's no way I can go to sleep tonight without reading book five. This is a must-read but do it in because each book builds off the previous one.
This is the fourth book of this series. Trust me, if you haven’t read books one through three, go now get them. You’ll see when you get to this book, you’ll be on the edge of your seat. Author Lucian Bane steps into you head and weaves you a tale that become a part of you. From the moment you meet Ruin and Isadora you know there’s something special about the two.
There’s a prophecy that Ruin needs to fulfill. Though neither he nor anyone involved is fully aware of what the end result is, he follows the directions to the letter. Up until now he has understood and carried out what has been asked of him. But when he is shown his latest assignment, he cannot, will not and rebels. You feel his pain, his torment … you ask yourself what would you do, what are you capable of? You find yourself in the thick of it all, watching, waiting. You empathize with Isadora … you have become so close to her that you gasp when she realizes what she must do because it’s the only answer for everyone.
Lucian Bane is one of the great Word Masters. Step in to the world he has created, put your seatbelt on, throw you hands in the air and get ready for quite a ride.
Right, well I think the most important concept of the continuation in this story is that the Author reminded us all of his message. That is to love with all your might, cherish all the beautiful memories you create together, learn to give and receive passion to those who deserve your undivided attention and know that there is ALWAYS going to be someone out there that will see you as yourself, YOU will always be somebody's spark and kryptonite, most of all though he teaches us to never give up hope that this SOMEONE is out there waiting for you to find them, heal them, and just LOVE them.
Although I love all the characters in this unique, creative tease of a series, there will no way ever be another like SCRIBER. Sorry RUIN, I do love you but... I'm a fickle book boyfriend cheater-a-holic! =) Also I must say, Sam is a new character I'm going to look forward to meeting again and again, she might even make me want to "change teams" lol
Thank You for something new Lucian Bane. I shall forgive you for being naughty to my baby RUIN.
In Ruin: The Turning, which picks up after the harrowing possession at the end of Ruin: the Judgement, the Carnificem and the Scientist continue their struggle to find harmony and balance as Ruin now battles against an assignment that will rend his soul.
Lucian Bane takes his otherworldly tale of angels, humans and other assorted celestial beings down a dark path where limits are tested, lines are drawn and evil intent brings about heartbreaking sacrifices. Ruin and Isadore grow, both as individuals and as a couple, each learning the nuances of love and commitment. Isadore, newly freed from the mental wall which kept her from embracing all that she could have and all that needs from Ruin, blossoms while Ruin spirals into the abyss under the weight of his next judgment.
The addition of a quirky syndemos, Sam and the continued participation of the Prophetic Scriber makes for a well written, excitingly paced continuation that will have you turning page after page to its heart stopping, cliff-hanging ending.
You can’t help falling into this story. It’s unique with strong fascinating characters. This storyline is one exciting, heart-stirring, heart-stopping, thrilling otherworldly read. There are things that happen that I didn’t see coming and I was speechless. This is just one little part that tugged at me.... Isadore. His eyes closed, peace slowly entering him. Isadore was why. Isadore was his purpose. His agonizing breath. His pain. She was his reason. To fight. His reason to win. To make them see. To make them pay. You will go through many emotions reading this story.. but Love being the most powerful.
My head is spinning after reading this book. This book is by far the best of the series. Lucian paints a masterpiece with his words. As I read this book my heart was beating so fast with each word it was as if the picture was becoming clearer and I actually felt like I was in the story. Ruin and Isadore have come on such a long journey but does it really end? I can't wait to see how this story continues. Does true love win? My vote is yes , but at what costs. I will be waiting to see the next strokes of the brush as Lucian paints this amazing picture for us all.
Wow Lucian. I totally didn't see that coming. Another great book in the series and it leaves you wanting more. I just want to keep reading and not have the story end.
Ruin and Isadore continue on the assignment and Ruin still hides what he suppose to do to Isadore. The one night something happens and Ruin has to make hard choices.......
Great job Lucian and look forward to the next book in the series.
SPOILERS: Oh my god!!! Trying to keep my cool with this book! Was so ready to rip Lucian Bane a new one when Isadore killed herself!!!! Finished the book not knowing it wasn't the end of the series so that set me off again! I am trying really hard to see where this is going and I get the whole sacrifice part but really? Now I'm sad for two reasons! Please tell me we will not have to wait for long for the next book?!?!?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Wow! I love this series! I honestly didn't see what was coming, and I love that in a book! The story line has twist and turns that just keep you going wanting to find out what's going to happen! The introductions of some new characters are wonderful and has piqued my curiosity ...I can't wait for this story to continue!
Wow!! What an amazing continuance of this incredible story! Ruin has made his deal, know he has to reap what he is dealt, the death of his Wife, his love, is Angel Isadore. His hatred for God grows stronger and stronger. This is story will have you in tears, laughter, shock, and love! Absolutely a must read! Looking forward to reading the next journey Lucian has in store for these characters! 💗
Love this series. Did not expect the turn of events that happened. The only downfall was there were a couple of instances where the wrong name was used. Will be waiting for the next one.
I absolutely love this series! Ruin The Turning will have you on the edge of your seat. It's no surprise Lucian Bane weaves a story that holds us captive with vivid imagery and indepth story and characters.
Let's talk about that ending... But first what to say about the emotional journey that Ruin went through not to mention the sacrifice that Isadore went through to free Ruin. Unfortunately, to no avail. It just left him wrapped in grief without his wife. Not to mention the torment of having to bond with Sam while his heart and life belong to Isadore.
Now that ending??? "The creature suddenly wrapped a hand around the chain leading to Ruin’s chest and yanked it. Ruin torpedoed toward him then found himself standing just before the warrior. Eye to eye.
Numb and cold, Ruin felt himself floating up as the light in the being’s eyes screamed through him. His breath returned to his lungs in a gush of power that pulled him hard to the ground. Ruin stood a head above the being as the holes grew and their helmet melted away until his adversary stood before him in their true form.
“You already killed me,” his foe said.
Sudden clarity clobbered Ruin’s mind as he stared into the face before him. His legs lost all strength and he fell to his knees. Isadore.
“I have purchased your soul from Hell,” she said, staring down at him. “And you are now under my command.”
He fought to think and process her words and their meaning as agony suffocated him. “Isadore," he croaked, his heart failing him. "You have forgotten me?”
The blue depth of Isadore’s eyes stirred his soul with agony. “It is you, Carnificem, who has forgotten. But you will remember. Very soon.” ~Lucian Bane, The Turning Ruin, #4"
I'm on the edge of my seat desperately wanting start the next and possibly last book in this series. I had to force myself to breathe and take a minute to just say... Unfreaking believable!!!
Wow!!! This series has been one page-turner after another! "Ruin: The Turning" continues to push the boundaries with its otherworldly battle to fulfill the prophecy. Ruin's will is tested time and again, as he's taken to the edge of darkness and beyond. Nothing is as it seems, and this next installment is one surprising scene after another that will steal your breath over and over. The battle of angels, demons and other beings is fantastical and thrilling, and the cliffhanger ending completely caught me by surprise. I loved the descriptive scenes! The powerful dialogue was at times gripping, while other times the snarky humor gave it the perfect blend of comedic relief that leads to uneasy laughter. This series is a must read for those who want a good paranormal adventure!
OMG! No wonder Lucian Bane is a Master Twister and Teaser! Exciting, mind blowing story line with characters you have fallen in love from the beginning. A gripping story about love, sacrifice, devotion and so much more, a story that you will love, sometimes hate, and wish things weren't as they are. I recommend it to everybody who wants to be a part of a journey thru heaven and hell, thru love and sorrow!
I Did not see that one coming. Whoa! This book went places I could not have foreseen. I had an idea of how this part of the story might go and I was so wrong. This is something I could not have imagined. It was so incredibly beautiful and heartbreaking. The character dialogue was so well done and extremely entertaining. There is also an introduction to a new character that is impossible not to love. I really love this book and I can’t wait to read to the last one.
I will tell you that this book will make you question what are Demons, and what is an Angel. At this book number four, I'm not sure anymore. I know that there is a deeper meaning here, but I need the next book, to reach it. This Author really makes you think, long and hard.
Another incredible story by Master Story teller Lucian Bane. Each book in this series gets better and better. I can't wait to read more of his incredible level stories. This series is a definite one click! What are you waiting for? Go buy it ow.
This series is just amazing- I’ve loved every bit of it! Ruin, The Turning gripped me the hardest and of course my emotions went haywire. The author’s writing is like none other, and I have throughly enjoyed every book I’ve read of his. I’m looking forward to book 5! ~Angie❤️
This is a must read series for anyone that likes a different type of paranormal. There is so much suspense and intrigue that you will be on the edge of your seat and you won’t be able to put it down.
WTF! Did not expect ANY of that. He sold his soul for her and she died for him and poor Luke. Communication would have helped a lot. But like usual the males think they knew better. Lol
