Love Aggression
Tyler Calvano knew his ex-wife’s boyfriend was bad news from the way the little hairs on the back of his neck stood on end, from a smell of danger, from an animal instinct his ex had once appreciated. She wrote in secret as a young adult, with only her family for an audience, and now is over the moon at the thought of sharing her love of writing with a few more people. Her favorite stress-busting activity besides writing is singing karaoke at her hometown bar, and she is passing on her love of reading to her daughter.
Cindy thanks God every day for an errant Youtube recommendation that led to her having the best group of friends she's ever had in her life, and she is looking forward to seeing where the rest of this journey will take her; and, hopefully, more stories to tell.

Well I thought I was going to have to go in this book and kick some booty. Don't mess with the wolf pups! Lol! But little man was protected. I kept imagining him as a little cub and it pitter-pattered my heart. I loved Kelan and Ty but little Jesse has my heart from the get go. He's so cute!
Ty went to pick up little Jesse for his time and ended up caught up in the middle of a mass murder. The killers were leaving behind no loose ends. Any witness was a dead witness. Ty got Jesse to safety in time but they're on the run now. Ty heads across the country and finds a little place to settle. He gets a job and finds a little daycare place where the owners seem to be good caring people. Then he really gets a sniff of one of the owners, and realizes he's like Ty. As Jesse and Ty get to know Kelen, they all realize they are each other's answers to what they've been searching for. But Kelen’s present and Ty and Jesse’s past are coming together in a bad way. Hopefully they will survive to lead the life they want to lead together as a pack.
As I mentioned earlier, the characters in this book were great but none got to me more than Jesse. Such a little boy having to deal with such grown up things. Seeing his mother murdered is enough to send the little guy into therapy, but as more things are happening, the more Ty is noticing that Jesse is catching more than the normal kid would. So he has to tell Jesse what they really are. Of course, any little kid like that thinks that's just the coolest ever lol. To me, though, Jesse made this book even better. Of course, Ty and Kelen were great. They just seemed like perfect mates right off the bat. But Jesse was such a dear sweet little boy. It made me want to pick him up and squishy him like everyone else was doing lol. Guess it's just the mom in me.
This is a great book. I really enjoyed it. Great characters, great plot, and a little boy that makes your heart sing. Happy reading!

A Joyfully Jay review.

I really, really enjoyed this book. In fact, it’s one I would call “so nice I read it twice”. I read it straight through, and two nights ago, I settled in to poke through it in order to put together this review. Rather than simply skimming, I read the whole thing again and enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time.
All three of the main characters were compelling and appealing. I would think nothing of hanging out with them while they played with Jesse in the park, and I know I would fight right alongside of them when they were in danger. Tyler loved his son unconditionally and fiercely protected him. That’s a quality I admire in not only a character in a book, but in real life as well.

So, this was a different kind of shifter story. Tyler is a half-shifter on the run with his young son Jesse, after witnessing the murders of several people, including Jesse's mother and her boyfriend. Now, the men who killed them are after Tyler and Jesse and they end up in a small town where they meet Kelan, who co-owns the daycare where Tyler signs Jesse in. Kelan is a half-shifter, as well, and both him and Tyler are attracted to each other, although Tyler isn't sure he wants to put Kelan at risk. When he discovers that other shifters in town have been bullying Kelan, Tyler finally realizes he has to protect Kelan, who he feels is as his as his own son is, all the while keeping an eye out for the men that are still hunting them.
I liked Tyler and Kelan, they were caring and supportive of each other and Jesse, who was truly adorable and stole every scene he was in. They had great chemistry, both as a couple and as a family.
It was nice seeing Tyler forming his own pack, starting with Kelan and ending with Woof, who I'm very intrigued about. They were a cohesive unit and worked great together. Even with the addition of Beth, Kelan's BFF and a human.
This is my first book by this author and I wasn't sure what to expect and really, even after reading a blog post regarding the title, I still don't see the reason for it. It doesn't really add up for me. The first half of the book was a bit on the light side, setting things up and allowing the reader to get acquainted with the main characters. The second half, especially the last 30% of the book, was very fast-paced and action-packed and more than made up for the rest. I was completely riveted by all that was happening and couldn't put it down until the very end. The writing was good, but the dialogue felt a bit stilted at times, especially during the first portion of the story, but overall, I found the book entertaining and engaging and have no trouble recommending it.
