This is a great book for "second half of life" advice and perspective. The author builds on her own experience as a former network executive turning away from a rapidly rising star career and finding something better for her.

The advice in this book is good, but there's a lot of it (probably too much) and it's not very focused. I don't read too many self-help/personal growth books, but I do read some and the amount of overlap between "What If There's More?" and many of those others was a little frustrating for me. If this is the only book in this genre that you are considering reading then this is a fantastic book for you. But for me, I would have appreciated something more specifically addressing what is uniquely challenging about midlife and leaving out the more generic advice about family, friends, time management, prioritization, and the like.

Career success is an interesting thing. It may look glamorous or exciting to others, but leave you feeling empty. Even if you are super “successful” in your career, you may not be truly fulfilled with what you’re doing.

In this book, Barrett helps readers get clear about what they really want in life (besides success and money). And then she helps you map out a plan to start moving in that direction.

I love that she ended every chapter with a few thought-provoking, action-oriented questions. I journaled through each of them as I went through the book, and it really helped me absorb and apply what I was learning.

If you are a successful, career-driven person who’s kind of wondering if there might be more out there for you to pursue, I highly recommend this book.

Side Note: Pairing this book with the Miracle Morning practice was a perfect combo!

There were some great takeaways from this book that make it definitely worth the read. First of all, thinking about your career/life from a longevity standpoint is not something I've really done before. Lately, I've been wrapped up in the "this day may be your last - make it worth it" frame of mind, and while I'm definitely a planner, I really hadn't stepped back and thought about my life after mid-life. This book takes you there and explains how to create a compass to guide you. I also really hadn't considered how much time I actually have left to do something significant. It often feels like if you haven't made it by your 40s, you really only have five years to do something cool. The author argues against this and makes a compelling point.

This is a fantastic book for anyone who wants to live a life of significance. If you've ever questioned who you are without the titles or successes you've had, this book will help you discover that and make a plan for living a full, wonderful life. This is a terrific book and I can't recommend it highly enough!

I couldn't read this fast enough. It's a how-to guide for the best mid-life crisis ever. One that will result in deeper purpose, more intentional living, and renewed direction. Even if you don't change anything other than your mindset.

A valuable Life Compass

I loved this book for it gave me a relatable insight into the midlife soul-searching of a successful executive. This book offers a practical framework how to rediscover your life purpose as you start playing the B-side of your vinyl record.

A book both practical in super specific ways and also full of heart. Perfect for anyone considering a big career change ... or just feeling kind of lost in their lives and wanting to connect with who they are at their core.
