Meet JACK; he's funny, good-looking, a bit of a loser ...a lot of a loser in fact, having lost his flat and car in a game of snooker. He's just fallen inexplicably in love with his exceedingly ex Ex LEILA, who can't stand the sight of him and is more than happy with her handsome City boyfriend HENRY. Henry, though, has suddenly found he's got the hots for KATIE, Leila's best friend and flatmate, who's been carrying a torch for Jack for so long, the Duracell batteries are beginning to run out ...What's going on? Can't Cupid shoot straight anymore? It's not his fault for once, but Charlie and Puck's, a couple of badly behaved fairies who have been acting more stupid than cupid. And unless they work out how to fix things pronto, theirs is going to end up one seriously grim fairytale . . A riotously imaginative novel, full of love, life and magic.

I picked this up at a second hand book fair. It has NOT aged well. The writing isn't bad, the concept is fairly interesting. Some of the fairy stuff doesn't really work (i.e. beetles are sentient and work and play with fairies, but also Charlie the fairy has a beetle skin bag). All the characters are unlikable - particularly Jack and Leila - and it's shocking just how much misogyny and homophobia we were apparently able to not just tolerate but normalise in the noughties. If you're at a loose end and this is to hand, it's fine, but don't bother seeking it out.
An enjoyable chicklit tale, with the added twist of a couple of naughty fairies thrown in to the mix! I'm not sure that the fairy parts always quite worked but it did make an entertaining change....& it provided an excuse for all the romantic mishaps going on. A good fun read.
Slow but hurried. It's nice to have the early 2000s nostalgia and I enjoyed the obvious shakespeare remake not trying to disguise itself as anything else
The Rebel Fairy is chick lit with a little dash of fantasy thrown in for good measure. The main protagonist is Jack, who finds himself the victim of a prank played by two fairies, Charlie and Puck. For fear of being alienated from their fairy kingdom, they set about attempting to right their wrongs by meddling in the lives of Jack, Katie, Leila and Henry. Misunderstandings and love quadrangles ensue!
It was an easy read, a little lengthy in parts. The end was quite drawn out, it could've concluded about 3 chapters earlier than it did, but overall it was quite entertaining. I enjoyed the different PoVs, it made the story much more interesting and involved than a single person PoV. An ideal holiday read.
This is a book that I have read many times over and I still like reading it as much as the first time.
The four characters in this book are Jack, Leila, Henry and Katie. This is based around their relationships but with the added element of two naughty fairies Charlie and Puck. They create quite a lot of mischief among the humans and more than a few times I found myself laughing out loud.
This is a great little book and another easy one to read. It has a good mixture of funny, sweet, romantic and fairy magic. I would read this book again and for fans of these kind of books (romantic, funny, magical books) I would recommend reading The Rebel Fairy.
A really cute and original idea for a story; characters that many can identify with, humour, and wit. It all fell apart for me in the spelling errors, missing words, and punctuation. I made so many corrections I should have been paid as an editor. It was frustrating to say the least and I finally gave up 3/4 of the way. I barely was able to finish the book. A shame because it was a cute rom-com with a fae twist.
