Certain desires and thoughts remain within our heart, we can’t express them, we wait for the right time, which never comes till they make inroads out of our most guarded fortresses to spill on to the pages of our choice. This collection is an echo of that love, which remained obscure, those yearnings that were suppressed, the regrets that we refuse to acknowledge. Many poems seem personal because they are written in first person but they have been inspired from the people around me – friends and acquaintances who shared their stories with me.
Some secrets have to remain buried because they are ours We do share them but only with the stars The tears that guarded them were as precious as flowers Soothing like balm on festering scars.
While there are no boxes for grief and joy, some persons in our life are more closely associated with these emotions. Their separation shatters us, their memories echo, we grieve but life does not stagnate for anyone…it is more like a river that flows despite the boulders. When imagination and inspiration try to offer solace, poetry that you are about to read springs forth.
Balroop Singh, an educator, a poet and an author always had a passion for writing. She would jot down her reflections on a piece of paper and forget about them till each drawer of her home started overflowing with poetic reminders, popping out at will! The world of her imagination has a queer connection with realism. She could envision the images of her own poetry while teaching the poems. Her dreams saw the light of the day when she published her first poetry book: ‘Sublime Shadows Of Life.’ She has always lived through her heart. She is a great nature lover; she loves to watch birds flying home. The sunsets allure her with their varied hues that they lend to the sky. She can spend endless hours listening to the rustling of leaves and the sound of waterfalls. She lives in California. You can visit her blog at http://balroop2013.wordpress.com
Timeless Echoes is a wonderful thread of lyricism and emotions, woven together by a clever wordsmith who creates a lovely balance of energy in her poetry. I've read several of Balroop Singh's books before, not my typical reading genre, but she always infuses a much-needed boost to the heart, mind and soul.
Much of human nature is easy to understand, but not all of it. Singh takes the obvious things we all experience without realizing their impacts on our bodies, then presents them in an imaginative way that challenges us to find patterns, mistakes, and opportunities. We've felt loss, but why? We've earned happiness, but when? She poses the right questions and also leaves things open-ended for the reader to digest themselves.
Only a person with wisdom, experience, and a true understanding of the human spirit could present such a variety of emotions on the spectrum of humanity and our common experiences. From disappointment and decision to the unsettled and overjoyed moments, each of the poems will wind its way into your thoughts. A great way to reflect on your life and how to make changes. Don't read all at once, savor throughout a week where you want to be contemplative.
Balroop Singh created a wonderful collection of thought-provoking poems. Beautifully written, they hit on life - love and everything else there is in between. The author's style of writing allowed her words to cut deep into my heart. If you are looking for a touching piece of work, you've found it. It was a wonderful read and comes well-recommended.
This was a lovely collection of poetry. The author used tasty language, the words seeming to soar off the page. Each poem in this collection is an echo, a reflection, an essential question. Some are joyous and full of love. Others sad and haunting.
“Eternal Wait” with its haunting atmospheric writing was a favorite and “Of Bedecking the Horizon” was one I especially loved for its use of descriptive language. Author Balroop Singh has a way of drawing you into verse that gives you the shivers in a great way!
I LOVED “Illusional Calm” and “This Fall” was another particular favorite, the words evoking all the brisk nights and lovely colors of autumn. “Timeless Echoes” is a lovely collection perfect for poetry lovers to curl up with on a lazy day with a warm mug of tea! I thoroughly enjoyed. 😊

I’m not typically a fan of this kind of poetry, but I liked the common theme interwoven throughout the poems. I also liked the use of alliteration throughout to help drive home certain lines. A few of my favorite poems were Echoes within, I am With You, Finding Peace, Haunting Echoes, and Symphony of Surroundings. I particularly enjoyed the ones about children as I’m a parent myself.
All in all a fair bit of poetry. Not my favorite style (give me a classic Italian sonnet any day of the week), but it was good and inspired.
Gentle, kindly worded poetry about family, love and life
With titles such as Moments That Echo, Eternal Love, Love Life Your Own Way… and My Mother, your money would be safe if you bet that this book contains poetry to warm the cockles of your heart. The wordy stanzas are filled with descriptions that will supply your mind with beautiful visions, leaving a warm fuzzy feeling.
I feel I must say that I am not a poem aficionado, more of an I know what I like when I read it, person. Though there were lines that spoke to me in each poem, not many did so as a whole. I think it was that some lines seemed incongruous and just as I was grasping the meaning (or at least the meaning I derived) of the poem, I was thrown.
I have to admit, my poetry leanings tend towards more modern, hard-biting freeform poetry, but not so much that I couldn’t identify with some of Singh’s, my favourites being Yearnings and Eternal Love.
If you love poetry, this is a volume worth spending a pleasant day reading and ruminating over.
Timeless Echoes by Balroop Singh is a compilation of poems that center on the inner being. For example, each poem puts you in setting, tells you what you see, or begs to ask a question. Singh’s poems surround a symbolic self-awareness and give messages of affection, hope, and what we as individuals may perceive our road in this world is.
It’s been a while since I read so many pieces of poetry that I have forgotten how soothing and re-vamping the art is. Reading it at night was especially enjoyable for me. I also read several of them out loud to my husband to see what message he got from it. One that captivated me was A Shrieking Echo, it came like fleeting emotion of a random woman expressing her pain of having lost a child. If you like to collect poetry or want to find stillness in an over-stimulating world, this is the fit for you.
I started reading this collection of poetry by Ms Singh without reading the blurb and I soon picked up the subtle undertones of wistfulness and almost melancholy that run through these poems, linking them all with this common theme. This did make sense to me as the book is called Timeless Echoes. After I had finished the book, I looked up the blurb and knew that the emotions I had sensed were indeed a vital part of the book as the poems are intended to reverberate with the reader in the manner of the echoes of past loves, yearnings and regrets.
This is not to say that the poems are sad or depressing as there are many delightfully uplifting ideas that support the fact that who we are is a factor of the events and circumstances of our lives. The echoes of past joys, pains, trails, failures and successes are woven through the fabric of our souls.
“The dew on my dreams is still fresh
Sunbeams add a sparkle” is one of these inspirational lines from a poem called Echoes Of Life.
Some of the poems dwell on a love lost in the past:
“I know I made a wrong choice
Intoxicated by the wine of youth” from Silent Echo are lines from such a poem.
The poem reflects on life’s fleetingness and impermanence:
“Echoing within her … nothing is permanent from Captive.
There are reminiscences of love lost or unworthy:
“Dark despotic attitude…
Arguments I could never win” from Sardonic Shadows
I enjoyed these deep and meaningful freestyle poems and recommend this book to lovers of poetry and life.
Even if you’re a fairy tale enthusiast like me, you still need to make a little time in your life for poetry. If you’re feeling like savoring some verses where every word is weighed, consider checking out Ms. Singh’s work.
This collection is sure to satisfy existing fans–like her previous work, these poems focus on relationships and growth, and the pain that comes with both. Joy is given its full measure as well–no need to fear that the outlook is bleak. The following is from my favorite poem, “I am with You!”
“In search of our own lustrous land
Far from those who create craters
Trust is our anchor.
You may call it escapism
But we fly for love, for peace
Away from this chaotic crease
Carrying the silent message of breeze
Embracing echoes within.”

Seriously, this piece could have been penned with fairytale-tellers in mind. :)
“Timeless Echoes” is a beautiful collection of free verse poetry. I loved the echo theme throughout the words that connected them. There were many subjects, but all came from the heart. I could relate as a mother and human being with the poem, “Shrieking Echoes.” It tugged on my soul. Ms. Singh’s use of nature provided solid images to guide me through the feelings. “Captive” reminded me that nothing is permanent, much like the snow--so are our emotions. “First Love” references books, and that brought an inner smile of a reader’s truth. Poetry finds a way to connect us, and this collection did that on many levels. I recommend this heartfelt book of poems.
Emerging FromShadows is a collection of wonderfully emotional poems about a strong woman who can find her own way through life’s tricky paths. The poems are honest and natural, and ultimately uplifting and hopeful. I enjoyed them immensely!
Poetry has been used for eons as an outlet for humans to unleash their emotions, perspectives, fears, desires, musings, and questions in a creative, evocative way. Balroop Singh effectively follows in this tradition, creating an anthology of lyrical poems that echo with memories, secrets, and yearnings.
Each poem seems to pulse with raw emotion and wonder and scenes of nature, often tackling a different theme, POV, or emotion, each relatable and insightful and sometimes bittersweet. I loved how the end of some poems seemed to provide a transition to the beginning of others; e.g. "Moments That Echo" ends with an exploration of solace, and "Echoes of Life" picks up with solace, ending with a vision of sunbeams, while "Timeless Echoes"' first visual is that of the sun.
One thing that threw me off sometimes were the many exclamation marks included in many of the poems. My internal monologue, when reading through poems, is often a murmur instead of a shout (unless it's slam poetry), so I found the punctuation often jarring. Then again, poetry is arguably the most subjective of the writing forms, so who am I to judge?
For fans of emotional, thoughtful poetry, this compassionate anthology is certainly worth a look.
Some of my favorite stanzas / lines include:
"Let me remind all those Who look at the skin to judge You belong to my mother You too were in this condition Face down waiting for freedom."
"Together we quit the foolish faction That takes pleasure in strife and command, In search of our own lustrous land Far from those who create craters Trust is our anchor."
"And then time flew We didn’t even notice, Love for books deepened But cuddles turned to momentary hugs Tide of time swiftly carried them away My grand kids share my first love now."
"The embers of your love Still smolder within me, Smothering my breath out. I carry dead demons of your memory Looking for a place to bury them."
When Balroop Singh's latest poetry book, Timeless Echoes (2018), published, I planned to savor it slowly, bring it out for those moments when I needed a boost or a cheer up. That didn't happen. I ended up devouring it. I know from her blog that Balroop has incredible insights into the human condition. When she puts these in context with the flow and rhythm of poetry and the connotative depth only a poet can pack into a few words, this becomes a truly important book of poetry:
"It seemed so fascinating To tread the unknown trail How could I forget the elation? The warm words of assurance!"
Balroop explains why she wrote this book in the preface:
Certain desires and thoughts remain within our heart, we can’t express them, we wait for the right time, which never comes till they make inroads out of our most guarded fortresses to spill on to the pages of our choice. That goal inspires the soul of each poem, the individual beauty and poignancy revealing the true meaning only over time. This is not a book to be read quickly. Keep it on your digital reader so it’s easily available. Reread it when phrases and stanzas resonate in your memory or with some personal experience:
"You came like the sun piercing through me Changing my contours, Pushing me into the waters of time I embraced your love And plunged into timeless sea"
Balroop covers a multitude of emotions with honor, grace, and understanding, and in unique ways often unexperienced in modern poetry. This is a joy to read..
I absolutely love to disappear into a delectable poem and Balroop's book was a delightful treat. From light to dark, moody to loving---you can find quite the variety of emotions in Timeless Echoes. Although it's hard to pick just one, my favorite in the collection is "Did I Lie?"
"Did I say I forgave all? Then why do memories gnaw Digging deeper at the fissures
Did I say I remain calm? Then what is this brewing inside Bursting the seams of my heart?
Did I say I have moved on? Then why are my feet firmly embedded As if shackled by unknown forces
Did I say I chose to fly high? Then why are my wings Clipped by emotional shears..."
Balroop Singh is a talented author and poet, and if you crave an emotional fusion of words that linger long after your eyes have left the page, you'll want to get your copy of Timeless Echoes. I'll be revisiting this collection for years to come.
I’ve read Singh’s poetry books Magical Whispers, and Moments We Love, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. So, I decided to travel back in time a couple of years and dive into an older collection. The poems of Timeless Echoes reflect the poet’s same beautiful voice and reflective musings with a slightly more formal style.
The poems struck me as personal, a sharing of the many facets of love and relationships – the joys, but also the regrets and hurts, those which we carry with us, examine with older eyes, and come to know in a new way or let go. My favorites were the more free-flowing poems that struck a personal chord: Ageless Echoes, Illusional Calm, New Life, and A Letter. This generous collection of nearly sixty poems can be easily read in an afternoon, though they deserve to be savored.
Having read several of Balroop Singh’s collections of poetry, I know to expect an emotional, empathic book.
Although this is not my favourite of her works, the broad depths of human emotion are expertly animated and enunciated through each poem and through the book as a whole. The theme of echos is clear, seaming in and out of the individual poems. There are poems of love, poems of longing, poems of healing and poems of hope. I can never fail to be moved by Balroop’s creativity and ability to capture so much with her words.
One line that particularly grabbed me was about hours crumbling to dust, I wish I could quote the exact line but I read this book on Kindle Unlimited (it’s free as part of your membership!) and I’m not technically minded enough to grab it. Luckily, this means you can discover and enjoy it for yourself.
Highly recommended, along with Balroop’s other poetry collections. Guaranteed to take your heart on a wonderful journey.
I like my poetry with a little more bite. This collection, while pleasing and soothing, didn’t contain anything that caught me by the throat. The sentiments are lovingly portrayed, easily accessible, and just right for certain readers.
My favorite poems were
Yearnings ... Let me be a brook breathing poise Flowing at a leisurely pace Watching birds at play Flitting in and out everyday.
Luna That night when I saw you Your silvery glow guided my innocence Your shape shepherded my dreams I followed you.
Spring of Our Dreams ... Fresh leaves sparkle all around us Blooming blossoms emit fragrance They are smiling at your conceit Your high headedness is so concrete
Overall, the poetry was too familiar to be awe-inspiring. The overuse of words like echo and cloud gave it a repetitious feel, possibly by intent.
Wise & Wistful Musings In “Timeless Echoes,” the author searches within to share the trials and tribulations of life in unique poetic imagery that delves deeply into the human spirit echoing within each of us. Love of nature, love of family, grace and forgiveness are among the themes encompassed in Singh’s timeless collection. ~Bette A. Stevens, author of award-winning children’s picture book AMAZING MATILDA and other books for children and adults
“Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested”– this quote of Francis Bacon immediately came to my mind after I finished reading Balroop Singh’s latest collection of poems, “Timeless Echoes”.
I was quite busy for a couple of months and during those days, whenever I managed some “me time”, I used to read a few poems from the book. I could have read the book all in a go; the poems are neither big nor complicated, but I wanted to savour their myriad flavours, wished them to linger in my mind. That’s the way Balroop composed her poems, as Bacon had said, her book is meant to be chewed and digested.
The poems, according to the poet herself, are inspired by life. Life, as we see it, feel it from different perspectives. Some hues of life change from time to time, but eventually, their changing shades are etched in our hearts. Balroop has given words to those shades, those emotions of life. Each passing moment of life is a lesson in itself, as Balroop says in "Moments That Echo"
Each moment an experience in itself We grow in its glow to wend and win Divesting the ignorance of our thoughts Solace echoing within!
The deep emotions of a woman’s mind have been reflected in another poem, "Echoes Within"
My workplace may be chaotic, My work is erratically endless Rewards may not be instantaneous But I have won the greatest Grammy. I am a mother In my hands is the future And the pride of my family My world revolves around you.
In the poem "Yearning", I got the flavour of Wordsworth as Balroop expressed her unadulterated love for Mother Nature and her desire to be a part of her.
Let me be a cloud that floats freely Wandering wherever I want to be Smiling at humans hushing their desires Of absolute freedom!
I can go on citing lines for each poem is unique; they speak about love, life, small happiness and worries we experience in the journey of life. The reader at once can feel the poet’s passion and a strange feeling of oneness, a kind of intangible yet conceivable conduit that makes her/him comfortable. It’s not always easy to “enjoy” a book, but Balroop’s writing has that quality. I recommend the book to all poetry lovers, it’s a treat for your soul.

Timeless Echoes is an impressive collection of poems written by Balroop Singh. She deals with the seriousness of matters such as child loss, racism, and love, and running through each one are the themes of nature, including birds, sunrises, the moon and the world around us. Balroop also has a strong sense of family, which comes across well in her poetry, and she provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the world around us with her words.
The collection promises to be a healer and a soother, to cleanse the soul and allow us to live our lives without hurting others. Whilst there is a lot of emotion in her words, I sometimes felt that the poetry was just skimming around what was being said, and as such some of the entries did not strike a chord with me. However, on the whole, this is a solid book on poetry and something that many will enjoy.
Timeless Echoes is a collection of poetry written by the poet Balroop Singh. It is about human relationships, possibilities and pathways, but mostly about love.
The poems give me feelings of nature, alluding to the flow of the river, the winds and the ebbs of the tides. I like the fleeting sensation, the somewhat ethereal language. Ms. Singh commands a varied language, and several poetic techniques, like alliteration and various rhyme forms. Like the following:
The benign blue umbrella inspired, Fake fidelity flew away with freedom, Pretensions were sedulously shed off, Promises were made encore.
My favorite poem in the collection is Yearnings, which begins with this verse:
Let me be a cloud that floats freely Wandering wherever I want to be Smiling at humans hushing their desires Of absolute freedom.
Overall, this is well done, and recommended for lovers of poetry.
This book of poetry will make you feel every emotion related to love, from the initial stages of love to deep love to heartbroken love. Her use of imagery and alliteration are beautiful. These are not poems that you can read quickly and keep going. They are meant to be absorbed, to ponder upon, and to allow the words to take you back in time to your own past emotions. Here is a list of some of the poems that I really enjoyed:
A Shrieking Echo Yearnings - absolutely loved the imagery in this one Luna - I've always felt a connection to the moon! Eternal Love Revelation Did I Lie? Demons Within They Are Not Born... The Valley I Love The Power of Words My Mother
I enjoyed this book as many of the poems resonated with me personally. The Author touched on parenthood and finding oneself, and other topics. There was one poem titled, "The Letter," and my perception of that was one was someone suffered the loss of a loved one, and the letter was actually an obituary but the way the Author relayed the message - you'd have to really read between the lines to catch that. At least that is what I got from it, and that one also touched me deeply as I lost my father a few years back, and I felt that his obituary was more like a letter. I will definitely be reading more from Balroop.
This is another wonderful collection of short, lyrical, and emotion-packed poems.
Each one is like tasting a rich chocolate treat. You don’t want to eat them too fast but to take your time to savor the variety of subtle emotional flavors: joy, triumph, sorrow, doubt, indecision, celebration, success, and so many more.
I wish I was still teaching secondary school language arts … Singh’s poetry collections would be an asset to curriculum for students at all levels and abilities as these poems succinctly reflect the universal human experience.
Timeless Echoes will become a favorite of poetry enthusiasts. “Solace sailed away with you,” the author wrote, and with that line, I was hooked. This poetry collection is a beautifully written group of memories, dreams and desires that begs to be read over and over. I absolutely loved it.
Lots of emotions in this set of poems you will enjoy. Could be called Timeless Emotions as these short poems give you a feeling of all the topics covered. Welll worth a read for a deeper feel of personal Emotions.
I find this author's work moving. This is the second book of her poetry I've read and I enjoyed it every bit as much as the first. Her writing takes the reader from joy to despair and back again. It reminds us to find the delight of being as well as to enjoy the wonders of nature. My favorite poem is YEARNINGS. I highly recommend this author and this read.
