Beautiful, naïve Amber Light, falls in love with a tortured artist named Cade Raine. From the first moment she meets him, she is absolutely smitten. Not only is he incredibly handsome, but also successful and wealthy. They marry soon after. HE BOOK I BOUGHT AND READ IT AND NOW YOU SEE A GOOD STORY TO KEEP YOU ON YOUR TOES AND THIS ONE WILL.
HERE THE STORY IS IN SOUTH AFRICA AND THEN I AM GOING TO SCHOOL AND THEN I GO TO A BOARD WALK WERE THEY HAVE PAINTING AND THEN I SEEN SOME THAT WERE GREAT ARTIST NAME CADE RAINE
YOU SEE I M AMBER AND I AM ONLY 20 YEARS OLD UP AND COMING ARTIST MY SELF AND THEN I SEEN HIS AND HE ASK ME IF HE COULD DO ME AND THEN IT WAS SUPPOSE TO A SKETCH OR PAINTING BUT I SAID YES
WELL I DID NOT NOW MUCH OF CADE BUT I WAS SMITTEN WITH HIM FIRST AND THEN HE ASK ME TO MARRY HIM WITH IN 2 WEEK OF MEETING HIM WOW NOW I AM TRYING TO GET WEDDING PLANED AND WE HAVING IT IN HAWAII AND IT GOING TO BE LONG PLANE RIDES HE WOULD NOT LET ME TELL MY SISTER OR BROTHER AND THAT A BITCH I DON'T HAVE ANY ONE AROUND SO I AGREE AND THEN WE TAKE THE RIDE BUT I AM SCARED OF PLANES AND CADE SAID IT BE OK
WELL WE ARE IN HAWAII AND IT BEAUTIFUL AND THE HOTEL IS GREAT WE ARE GOING TO GET MARRIED ON THE BEACH AND HAVE ROMANTIC DINNER THERE WELL THE CEREMONY WENT OFF WITH OUT NO PROBLEM WHEN WE HAD OUR DINNER CADE OTHER SIDE COME OUT HE HIT ME BECAUSE I SUGGESTED TO GO TO THE ROOM HE DESTROYED THE DINNER AND THREW EVERY THING AROUND I WENT TO THE ROOM AND TOOK OFF THE VEIL AND DRESS IT WAS A MESS.
WELL THE NEXT MORNING I HEAR KNOCK ON THE DOOR AND IT WAS CADE HE WAS MESS HE SAID HE WENT TO THE DUNES AND SLEPT IT OFF ,
WE WENT HOME AND NOW IT COMING TO BE OUR FIRST ANNIVERSARY AND CADE DECIDED TO TAKE US ON TRIP AGAIN BUT WHAT IS NAPPING AND THEN HE GIVE ME BEAUTIFUL RING AND THE WE HAVE A GOOD TIME WITH SOME UP AND DOWNS WHEN WE COME HOME CADE SAID HE GOT TO WORK IN THE STUDIO AND HE BE GONE ALL DAY AND ALL MOST MOST NIGHTS'
I WAS GETTING BORED AND TOLD HIM I WAS GOING TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL TO DO MY DEGREE IN ART THAT WAY I CAN KEEP BUSY AND THEN CADE COME HOME EARLY AND I AM NOT THERE I WAS WITH SOME OF THE COLLEGE KIDS I NOW BUT THEN THE BEATING START AGAIN HE BROKE MY WRIST AND TOOK ME TO HOSPITAL

The Review
This was such a heart-wrenching and chilling read. The author does an incredible job of bringing the reader into the brutal reality that so many women find themselves forced to endure, thanks to predatory men. The suspense and horror of the events that led Amber to finally leave her husband, as well as the terror that comes with fighting for survival, were all equally felt thanks to the author’s fantastic use of imagery and atmosphere in her writing, allowing the reader to feel immersed in this story.
The character dynamics and powerful themes are well done in this story. The realistic nature of both Amber and Cade as characters and the cycle of violence and forgiveness shown throughout their marriage hit close to home for far too many readers. Yet, the realistic nature of the characters' relationship and the beats of hope throughout the story as she fights to escape this relationship will stay with readers long after the book ends.

Heartbreaking, tragic, yet engaging author Barbara Harrison’s “Get Out Now!” It is a must-read psychological suspense tale, and domestic thriller readers won’t be able to put it down. The reader will instantly connect emotionally to Amber’s plight, and the reality of this story will hopefully shed new light on this horrifying situation so many have to endure.

May 25, 2021The premise of the book I think is super important. It gives a great view of what it’s like to be in an abusive relationship. And the slow building of the abuse and the denial are well written.
But Amber as a character and the writing style just really put me off.
I get it, Amber is 20 when all this starts and is super naive. But even 10 years later as she’s recounting the story, she still seems incredibly juvenile. And the way she speaks seems to reflect that too. It’s also hard to not see her as shallow as more often than not she’s spending most of the time talking about the luxuries in life like flying first class or the expensive alcohol they drink.
I also has some issues with the way speech was written in general. Almost no one used contractions. It just felt... weird and unrealistic.

This book needed to be written and parents need to read it. Follow it up with a book by Esolen, "Ten Ways to Destroy the Imagination of Your Child" and you will actually know what to stop letting happen in your kids lives, and what to give them instead. Our children are the future. Do we care enough about their future to give them Real formation and education?
