Now an official Witch Apprentice, Amalie is back to work and busier than ever. With the new school year on the horizon, she’s got PTA meetings and parent-teacher conferences, on top of all her magical responsibilities. Oh, and Taylin is being possessed by ghosts, boyfriend Reese is a temporary houseguest, and Amalie has been recruited as a chaperone on Taylin’s next field trip. So much for having left politics behind when she left her government job.
When the head of the PTA, Becky, is found dead after Amalie serving her lunch, both Amalie and Taylin are tossed into a murder investigation of the human variety this time. Except it turns out Becky is married to a witch - and that witch wants answers.
Between a Police Chief who doesn’t want her near the investigation, being a suspect, running a fish shop, and trying to keep up with her own lessons, Amalie has her hands full, but she’s determined to find out whodunit. Too bad the murderer has other plans.
I was super glad to catch up with the family; I actually was very happy to discover a new book in this series but....
To be honest I felt as lost and out of control as the main character did. I feel like the story lost a little of its direction and was a bit scattered.
A few things were left open ended that really confused me. A few hints about the Aunts but a lot less than last time. Less about the main character and her growth over all.
I don’t know. I just feel a bit befuddled and confused. There were a couple editorial errors that added into the confused parts. :/
While I enjoyed the book it honestly could have been shorter. It lost its way there for a bit, was slow for a bit, but found its footing again. Reese, Taylin, and Amalie are wonderful characters and seeing them settling in as a family of sorts is awesome. Vivian is still as acerbic as ever while training Amalie. Reese really developed as a character in this book as he helped Amalie investigate the murder of the PTA president that has Amalie the leading suspect. Between discovering new powers, blackmailers, Taylin being possessed by ghosts, grumpy customers, a police chief intent on putting her in jail, Amalie also has to deal with her own insecurities about parenting and make the decision about adopting Taylin.
Stunning. Absolutely fabulous read. She has gone on the school trip as a chaperone but she certainly didn't expect a Mean Girl to be in charge or that her body would be found after lunch. Now she's being framed as the killer! Worse the Police Chief has already more or less told her that she is going down for the murder. A simply wonderful plot with a killer that I didn't expect. Plus the growing relationships between her and the rest of the magical community is a wonderful backdrop. As is the growth of the characters. Great stuff!
Fun cozy paranormal mystery. A different story Development to the usual cozy witch formulation. More 'real', will leave you misty eyed, with a smile and a cackle. The author has potential to be more, Fern Michaels?... The only caveat i have is a problem that all "cozy writers' have: better developed male characters, not pretty props. Her male characters have more depth. Keep at it!👍👌🔰🎃
An interesting story, that keeps you guessing until the very end. Amalie is accused of murder, Reese is assigned to other cases. Yet, Amalie still finds a need to investigate. Its a mystery as to poisoned the head of the PTA, some people have secrets and some being were being blackmailed. Its up to Amalie to sort through the clues and expose the killer.
I came across the 1st book in this series from feebooksy and I have had to read the whole series! Waiting impatiently for book 5! I highly recommend this series it's entertaining, funny realistic (even if it has magic)! If you are looking for a great read this is it! I am definitely following this author on Amazon!
This book has many twists and turns. Who done it? Was it the professor in the library LOL. Anyway this is the real entrancing read. Do you think you know who did it already? Just keep reading and see,
These books are consistent. The story line is fresh. I can’t put them down. I want to continue following their lives, with and without witchcraft. A enjoyable book. Fresh and clean.
5 Delayed. I'll type for you. Ok with 2 fingers but I need my fix. Well with tears, sob, kicking my legs (tantrum) of to the new series I go. I know it will be good.
