The Case Manager's Handbook is essential reading for future case managers. Mullahy tells it like it is. She gives readers insights into the good, the bad and the ugly of case management. This field is growing rapidly as patients are living longer but not necessarily healthier lives. Patients and families need to be included every step of the way from the initial admission to the hospital to discharge planning and beyond. My only gripe is the font size on the included sample forms was so tiny, they were nearly unreadable. The publishers should seriously consider making future editions larger and less compact to facilitate keeping the forms closer to their original size. Or alternatively, they should cut the forms entirely.
