First edition bound in blue cloth with silver lettering. Illustrated in black & white through-out by Lynn Ward. 7 1/4" x 10", 112 pages. A Very Good copy in a Very Good dust jacket. The book has light dusting to the edges. Former owner's bookplate is affixed to the front endpaper. His library stamp is on the last page of text on the blank margin. Small date stamp and inked price in the gutter of the title page. Mild toning to the page margins. The dust jacket has rubs/chips to its corners and rubbing along the head and heel of its spine. Tanning to the spine and to the jacket's verso. Chapters on Florence Nightingale, Father Damien, George Washington Carver, Jane Addams, Wilfred Grenfell, Mahatma Gandhi, and Albert Schwietzer.
