Although Amy's the brilliant and confident CEO of a public relations organization, she still battles insecurities from being bullied as a teen. When her former tormentor is hired at her company, Amy can't help her childish glee. She's on top now, and Kim's way down at the bottom. But Kim's changed a lot since middle school, and Amy finds herself impressed by the sincere, vulnerable woman she's become. Kim is shocked to realize the nerdy girl she teased is now a renowned businesswoman. Even though she thought she'd never see Amy again, she's spent the last decade regretting what she did to her. She comes to respect Amy for her accomplishments, as well as her personality, wit, and beauty. Soon she realizes her feelings toward Amy go further than admiration. Will Amy be able to forgive Kim and overcome her self-doubts? And even if she does, will Kim be able to forgive herself?
A fairly enjoyable story about bullying and that sometimes the terrible things you do and say as a teenager can come back to bite you in the ass. Though it took me a few days to finish this, it wasn't because the writing was that bad. The story in fact had a lot of potential. I just can't figure out what the writer was thinking because quite a few things throughout the book don't add up.
There is something very important this book points out though and it's that what may have seemed like a throwaway comment to you might have hurt someone enough to cause them self esteem and body image issues later on in life. To the point where they consider surgery because they do not like who they see in the mirror. The topic of this book was great, the execution however, not so much.
*This is my second book by this author and will probably also be my last. Reason for this is because this author writes M/M then swaps the genders and renames the books. Though I'm not sure the same happened with this book, I just can't be bothered with them anymore.
Very thin storyline. Don’t understand why these mc’s are so immature and unsure of themselves, but that’s what carries the story. Then there is the psychologist with her strange and unprofessional advice. But, it wasn’t badly written and except for their uncertainty the mc’s were likeable. So 3 stars.
Amazing story, crazy good, spicy and out of the ordinary. The characters are smart and sexy, with a painful past behind them, and love overcoming all fears, insecurities and doubts. It's controversial and deep, Amy and Kim are examples of success and triumph. I enjoyed a lot and I recommend it.
This sweet story is as much about communication as it is about self esteem and the effects bullying can have on a person's self worth, whether they're the one getting bullied or the other way around. The characters in this story tend to get stuck in their own insecurities and don't even question if their interpretation of things is accurate. While this leads to a decent, and in the end, rather sweet, story, it doesn't deliver a whole lot of character development, since it seems to happen in an AH HA moment near the end of the story.
The storyline was relatable and I couldn't help but fall in love with the characters. If this book is any indication, she is about to become one of my favorite authors. My one con is I wished the sex between the two was hotter but then again, I seem to have a hard time finding a book with great sex and a great storyline. Its either one or the other in most cases.
It's a good read not amazing needs editing but the plot is solid confronting your former bully dealing with emotional attachment but most of their issues could've been sorted out with proper communication
I was sold from the get home and ended up reading this in one sitting! The characters were relatable the story line was relatable - who hasn’t had a crush and then got with their crush only to have shitty communication reek havoc!
A good story but some parts moved a bit too quickly to be believable. Could have used another 10k words to flush out some of the storyline. I enjoyed it any way.
