We actually began writing our first children’s book about 2 years ago. Cathy and I would often sit outside watching the birds. We fed the birds daily. They were very clever and fun to watch, especially when the little birds kicked seed to the ground for the larger birds. It seemed the birds had some group structure and displayed very effective teamwork. We thought it would be interesting to write a book about birds flying south for the winter.
The finished book sat on our computer hard drive for over a year before my brother and sister-in-law convinced us to self-publish our book. I never thought we would actually publish our work and we were very skeptical.
However, the birth of our grandson Rylie gave us some added incentive to get the book out there, and we decided to publish and dedicate it to him. We thought it would be nice to leave something behind for our children and their children. So we had the book proofed, edited, illustrated then self-published it ourselves at Amazon.com.
Cathy and Don currently live in Arizona with their cats, Nomi and Hershey. Cathy is a homemaker and Don is a retired Manufacturing Manager and former Elementary School Governing Board Member.
Deadly Pranks by D.C. Rush is a suspenseful vigilante justice thriller. The story is filled with intrigue and many twists that keeps the reader engaged and hungry for more and that's one of the many reasons why this book succeeds.
The plot is intricately sculpted as the synopsis suggests: ‘…Four typical American teenagers terrorizing the neighborhood with nasty pranks and all forms of bullying, until they find themselves in the hot seat after their bullying causes someone to die. If this prospect is not terrifying enough on its own, add some relatives to the pot, hungry for revenge and the guts to set a trap during a camping trip of the boys. Vigilant justice is served with a side-order of kidnapping at gunpoint. They are captured in dog cages just to wait out their punishment. The boys endure torture as well as sleep and food deprivation by their captors. The lives of these four teenage boys are forever altered…’
The story had every element a good story should have. A solid plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s an abundance of well-illustrated scenes that make you feel like you are right there in the story, and that’s something I look for in a good book.
I enjoyed the story, character development, and dialogue. There were plenty of plot twists that I didn’t see coming and that added to the book’s mystique. When I stopped reading to work, I found myself wondering what happened in the book, and replaying parts of the story in my head to see if I could figure more out. It has been a while since I enjoyed a book this much.
If you are looking for a well-written thriller with amazing characters and a gripping plot then ‘Deadly Pranks’ will not leave you disappointed. Fans of the genre who like their action and adventure infused with mystery and suspense will enjoy the ride and the unexpected ending! Highly recommended.
An exciting new adventure story to keep you on the edge of your seats.
I loved the ‘Robby’s Quest series of children’s books written by DC Rush and so when I saw this I just had to download it.
Firstly I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this exciting adventure story. As a mother I know all too well the pranks that young boys can get up to, and it is one of these pranks which goes wrong, and sets the backbone to this story.
Teenagers Pete, Kenny, Tony and Jake are lifelong friends who have grown up in Kirtland, Ohio. The other fun things the boys do are harmless and usually their pranks are too, but not this time! How were they to know that their mischief would result in death?
However the repercussions on the boys are potentially just as deadly! A vengeful relative decides to teach the boys a lesson. Captured, tortured and scared, the boys are kept in terrible conditions, never knowing if the next time their captors entered the room, it would be their last.
As the tension mounts the author keeps you on the edge of your seats, what will be the eventual outcome? Will any of the boys survive?
To discover what happens in this exciting adventure story you will have to read the book!
Highly recommended for young adults and adults alike.
This was a good read, lots of twists and turns. The author is from my hometown and I loved reading about the area that I call home throughout the book. Well done.
