But the blow has only brought Huon and those he fights beside to the Everlasting King's attention.
Though Huon has reached the rank of Low Celestial faster than he had anticipated while destroying one of the Everlasting King's stockpiles of stolen cores, he fears that his newfound strength won't be enough to protect his friends.
As the Everlasting King's fleet prepares to sail for Taloniar, their only hope to prevent full-on war between the two continents is to find and destroy the other stockpiles of cores before the fleet reaches its destination.
Another banger. Todd, you're killing it with these series. I look forward to the next book in this as much as Cradle.
Summary:
Huon ended the last book becoming a Low Celestial, and spent most of this book trying to save everyone in the Honorbound army from being enslaved. He succeds. Only for all of them to die from the Everlasting King, after they had a battle in their minds. Which Huon didn't stand a chance in.
Huon then had to locate his father, which he did, to recruit him and a few others to train them up. Kalak, the High Celestial that had bounded Jakob, Huons father, then shows up and is defeated by Huon in a one on one duel on Temtoria. Really rad fights.
Looking forward to the next one. I'm curious how long this series is going to go though. They keep hinting at otherworldly Devine beings that are far above where Huon is at, and they haven't even met any of them yet. Are we going to see him ascend at some point too?
The plot could go on for another 7 books if that's the case, since these are so fast paced.
Now, THIS, this is what I have been waiting for, finally, it took awhile to remove his whiny, dilly-dally attitude, and he started thinking, actually thinking, which we saw on the series first two books, where he was able to discover the "will surge/ability", I have been waiting for Huon to just use his head + insight + gut instinct, he has been caught up with advancing that all he has been doing was cultivate/surge/advance and his love story, that he practically missed advancing his thinking, and look at how using his intellect just brought the best of the best out of him.....I have always believed in Huon's ability to think under pressure............
For an ultimate antagonist, the Everlasting King was not what I thought he should be, but that is natural since all his ability has been suppressed, this final fight between Huon and the Everlasting King should be impressive.
Damn, of all the numerous characters that I wanted to have breakthroughs were Liona, Elikho, Captain Avery and Gale and they were just sidelined.........
A lot happened on this volume, and I am now sincerely looking forward to Book 9, finally the series has become readable again!!!!!!
Brutal at times but this is called progression fantasy for a reason. Huon advances to levels we didn’t even know about early in the story and the changes to the world are numerous
