A discussion of the development of English literature from 1660 to 1780 includes examinations of authors, such as Alexander Pope, Daniel Defoe, and Henry Fielding.
This collection of essays provides literary enthusiasts with a full, yet concise look at the authors of the Augustan Age. Not an enthusiast myself, _From Dryden_ would have been rich in content if I wasn't reading it with fairly scant portions of literary experience. Still, I gained new understanding in the peculiarities of this age of literature and English history.
