About the author

Kurt Newton sold his first story, "The Promise of the Sea," in 1993. Since then he's had over 400 poems and 250 short stories published in a wide variety of magazines, anthologies and webzines in the U.S., Canada, England, Ireland, Australia, Germany and Poland. To date, he has received sixteen honorable mentions from the editors of The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror, and has been seven times nominated for the Rhysling Award for his poetry.

Among his favorite authors are Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, Flannery O'Conner, Harlan Ellison, J.G. Ballard, Joyce Carol Oates, John Shirley, Lucius Shepard, Jonathan Carroll, Christopher Conlon and Paul Tremblay.

He lives in the northeast corner of Connecticut.

I won this book from the Goodreads Book Giveaway. Lindsey's boyfriend, Ethan goes hiking alone along the powerlines in a very remote section of Connecticut. Three days later, Lindsey heads to their agreed upon meeting spot and Ethan doesn't show. Rumors hint that something isn't quite right along those powerlines. There is something dark and sinister lurking.

This book is engaging and suspenseful. The only improvement I feel could be made would be to give the characters more depth. Overall, Powerlines is entertaining and worth the read.

Just thee way I like a book to be. Short and to the point without a bunch of filler or characters that you don't need. The story is reall good to.

I won my copy of this book through GoodReads First Reads Giveaways in exchange for an honest review, so here goes...

This is one of those books that just by looking at the cover and from reading the blurb on the back, I knew I would enjoy - and I wasn't disappointed! I felt the pace of the book and the suspense of what was going to happen next was just right. There was just enough of 'how are they going to survive this?' The scariest thing about this book is the scenario could really happen (or perhaps already is...) I think this book would make a great thriller/horror film. I would be interested to read more from this author.
