My new neighbor is a complete jerk. A tall, brooding, tattooed jerk. I tried to be nice, bake some cupcakes for him and his adorable daughter, and the only reaction I could come up with to his ice-cold reception was to shove those pink cupcakes right into his muscular chest.
In my defense, it was a rough week.
Being back in Seattle for the first time in years was hard enough, the fact that I was there for the dispersal of my father’s will made it even harder. I had no intention of staying, until I got a football stadium-sized surprise as my dad’s final gift to me.
No … really. He left me a football team.
It’s how I found myself in a conference room, staring down the veteran quarterback who wants nothing to do with a new owner. And that quarterback? It’s my tall, brooding, tattooed jerk of a neighbor.
Now he’s everywhere. Next door with his daughter. In meetings. Don’t even get me started on away games.
Luke Pierson is under my skin, and pretty soon, I’m not sure I want it any other way.

It was my 1st book by this author.
Liked it a lot, or better said liked the heroine a lot.
She had such a beautiful name – Alexandra. Love it!

I was happy to share my name with her.
Allie (fortunately no one calls me that) was very smart, loyal and strong woman. At the beginning I was a bit skeptical, but when she stood up for herself the 1st time she met the ‘rude’ hero, I was on her side.
Playboy Barbie – are you kidding me? When a woman looks beautiful it doesn’t automatically mean that she is shallow! I could only cope with that ‘name’ while hero’s daughter started it. Thanks God they skipped it later!
Refreshing nice to read about beautiful heroine and not only, as in the most books, about a ‘Greek God’ hero. Every woman is beautiful, every single one; but with an overwhelming number of romance books glorifying male beauty it was great to read about a very good-looking woman.
The story itself was slow-passed, no insta-insta, safe.
I wasn’t a big fan of the hero, he was judgmental toward her at the beginning, but he redeemed himself later. Not a manwhore!!! Yep, you read it right – he was NOT a manwhore.
I want to thank this author for writing a hero, who respected women; and for avoiding slut-shaming!
Looking at the most popular books/tropes, I guess a book with a decent non-playboy hero has fewer chances to reach a best-seller status…
That’s why I did, do and always will support authors, who don’t follow an ‘easy’ and unfortunately very popular storyline with a bad boy/aka ‘alpha-hole’, who treats not only the heroine, but also other women like crap!
I don’t hate women and will never tolerate idolizing of abhorrent men and poor portrayal of women in all shapes of doormat!
Back to this hero. He was a great dad, very good dad! He was a decent guy, who guarded his family; and because of that I could forgave him his silly and rude attitude at the beginning.
As I mentioned, he was NOT a manwhore, and, as I understood, was celibate for approx. 6 years.
Some may say he was a bit meek toward the end, maybe; but considering his situation, it was still bearable. It’s not that I liked their conflict, but I also didn’t hate it.
The ending was a bit rushed, but sweet.
Cute epilogue.
Will be there more about his teammates?

Bem, bem, bem... o que dizer sobre esse livro?
Um dos elementos que mais me atraiu na sinopse, foi o fato de que Luke era pai, que ele queria ser um bom pai para a sua filha. Minha escolha de leitura foi decidida aí, adoro histórias onde há crianças.
Mesmo que a maioria dessas leituras não superou as minhas expectativas nesse quesito, eu continuo arriscando e tentando encontrar uma que me satisfaça.
O que infelizmente não ocorreu aqui...
Não vi o relacionamento entre pai e filha tanto quanto eu gostaria. Não vi momentos importantes ou até mesmo marcantes dessa relação do Luke com a Faith, o que me deixou extremamente triste e frustrada. Porque ao meu ver, se você incluiu um elemento desse em um enredo, algo tão significativo, deve abordá-lo de maneira apropriada. Tem que ter um destaque frequente, constante e não trazer à tona somente quando é conveniente na trama. Também não vi uma construção de relacionamento entre a Allie e a Faith, a interação entre esses dois personagens foi mínima.
Talvez para alguns leitores esse fato seja irrelevante, mas pra mim é impossível relevar e até mesmo aceitar.
Aliás, até mesmo no relacionamento “amoroso” entre Allie e Luke ficou faltando muita construção e desenvolvimento. Não me convenceu, não passou emoção... ficou artificial.
Eu gostei da Allie e a sua personalidade me agradou na maior parte da leitura.
Já o Luke infelizmente não ganhou meu coração. Não deixou a sua marca sabe?
A história me prendeu até mais ou menos próximo da metade, depois disso perdi o interesse, embora continuei a ler, não senti mais aquela animação do início.

This was my very first book by Karla Sorensen, and boy was I glad that I picked it up. As many of you know, book funks happen to me with quite the frequency lately. And getting out of it is no small feat. The Bombshell Effect managed that by being a fresh take on two favorite tropes - sports romance and enemies to lovers.
Within a few pages I was immediately drawn into the book.
Allie Sutton and Luke Pierson met under certain circumstances that put them on opposite sides of the fence so to speak. Immediate tension and sexual attraction sizzled and made their day to day contact increasingly entertaining and emotionally charged. Both, were mature characters and were willing to put their animosity to the side for the better good, until it just wasn't possible anymore.
When they finally submitted to their passion, it was undeniably HOT. I literally vibrated and couldn't prevent a sigh from escaping. I was utterly enchanted by Allie and Luke. Their love story wasn't without hurdles or hardships, but they did their best, and I loved them only more for it.
I loved their equal footing, the way they could be themselves around each other. There were no hidden agendas, or expectations. Just Allie and Luke, two consenting adults, going after what they wanted. And WOW they made it work.
But there was so much more I loved about this story.
Besides the main couple, there were quite a few supporting characters that deserve their own story, and according to the author there is a good chance that they will get their chance. I honestly can't wait to read more of this cast. Because of the way the author plotted this story, as well as her story telling, writing and dialogues - this book just worked for me. I made the mistake of starting The Bombshell Effect in the evening after work, and had to reluctantly put it down at midnight, otherwise I would have read until 4am on a weekday, and that hasn't happened in AGES!!
I'm keeping a close watch on the author's next release, and probably will be reading some of her backlog. The author's writing is just too good to be ignored.

Overall Opinion: I went into this expecting a light, sexy read - and I got it! Was it deep into the characters and connection between them? No, but I wasn't really expecting it to be either. It was, however, just what I was looking for after a heavier book with some depressing content. I wasn't a huge fan of some of the H's behaviors. I also really disliked the fact that the epilogue was directly after their big conflict was resolved. I wanted some actual time with them as an outed couple, and maybe some more time with them becoming a family with the H's daughter! Otherwise, it was an enjoyable, light read that I enjoyed for what it was -- but it won't be making its home on my favorites shelf.
Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Allie and Luke's story. Allie's estranged father passed away suddenly and left her his prized professional football team to her. Luke is the quarterback for said team, and they also soon find out that they are also the neighbors that haven't had the best encounters recently. Sparks fly, but it's a hate-lust type situation that also has the fact that Allie is Luke's boss as an obstacle. Eventually they start a no-strings-attached secret sexual relationship that turns into more and they fall in love. There are a few sweet moments with Luke's daughter, some sexy times, some funny scenes, and some career drama...and they get a HFN ending.
POV: This alternated between Allie and Luke's POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well. I did, however, feel like the ending was a little rushed.
Instalove: No, they take a while to develop stronger feelings.
H rating: 3.5 stars. Luke. I liked him, but then he would do something to tick me off! I felt like he was a little self observed in his own past and circumstances at times.
h rating: 4 stars. Allie. I liked her. I appreciated her strength and how she was confident in her own skin.
Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed
Push/Pull: Yes
Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

I loved it so much.What a nice surprise, this is my first book by this author and I need more!The Bombshell Effect has everything I wanted and even more Karla Sorensen delivers a sweet,sexy,lighthearted story.With my favorite trope, a singe dad and a fantastic romance, with angst,humor and steamy moments!
The characters were well developed and the romance between Allie and Luke is steamy!These two is like an explosion whenever they are at the same place!They have a great chemistry and a fantastic bond.I loved Allie so much!She was strong and sassy.Luke is broody and sexy.
This is a must read!!If you are looking for a light and refreshing story this is what you need!!

I am sorry but this was borderline boring for me...
I tried and tried to go on, hoping it will get better and I was only able to read it until the 60% or so - until their first & second love-making scene but even those love scenes were awfully boring, being short & passionless. And I have to quit. Sorry, this isn't for me. Nothing can make me go on now that I am bored out of my mind.

I'm literally dead. DEAD, I tell you. Shooketh from the amazingness that is The Bombshell Effect and Karla Sorensen's killer writing. Holy WOW. I absolutely devoured this book, from the very first word to the very last, and then proceeded to lick every juicy drop from my fingers as I sat there wishing the story wasn't over, wishing I could stay within this world -- with these characters -- just a little longer. And that is the BEST feeling.
The Bombshell Effect is proof that Karla Sorensen can write humor, heart, and angst in a harmony that should be illegal. I didn't just love this book, I inhaled it, making it a permanent piece of who I am -- and I'll never let it go.
Let me start by saying that my favorite thing about Sorensen's writing is how SMART it is. Her writing is so witty, so heartfelt, and so thoughtfully produced that every sentence pulled me deeper and deeper into the story. I could see the world, feel the characters -- hell, even taste the cupcakes shoved into Luke's pretty boy face. Sorensen has a way of pulling you into her worlds with ease, making it feel not as if you're reading a book, but as if you've closed your eyes and leapt into a dream world that you never want to leave. It's magical!
And, as much as I loved the Bachelors on the Ridge series, The Bombshell Effect highlighted Sorensen's talents even more so. This book was SO well-written. It was hilarious, steamy, and it held just the right amount of moments to pack an emotional punch. More than that? It was ANGSTY -- which is my favorite brand of romance. Enemies to lovers, with a boss/employee flair? YES, PLEASE! And Sorensen KILLED me with her angst. She nails the small touches, the lingering gazes, the heavy silences. It's all that broody goodness that makes me squirm and flip the pages faster. I couldn't get enough!
What was most surprising for me with The Bombshell Effect was the incredible tact with which Sorensen tackles feminism. Allie is perhaps the strongest heroine I've read this year -- and she owns it. She's fierce, battling issues of sexism in a heavily male-dominated industry as she takes on the role of football team owner. And she does it in ways that I didn't expect. For instance, there's this photo shoot scene where she (and her team) really grabbed sexism by the balls and squeezed hard, playing into the fact that just because Allie is an attractive woman doesn't mean she should hide it now that she's in a powerful position. You can be powerful without being "hot," but you can also be YOU -- hot, sexy, pretty, beautiful, whatever -- regardless of what title you hold. There are little gems like this sprinkled throughout the story that will give every female reader a little swell of pride, a little flame of power, and a little motivation to go kick ass on their goals. Truly amazing.
I could go on and on about this story, the author, and how much I absolutely loved every word I read. This is easily a top read of 2018 for me, and further proof that Karla Sorensen is one of my favorite authors.

This was an enjoyable sports romance with some characters I recognized from some of Karla Sorensen’s other books (that’s what I get for reading out of order lol). I liked the concept of the story and I love Sorensen’s writing. I never felt the connection between the hero and heroine. It was a fling turned into love but I never felt that progression. I adored Luke’s daughter and seeing him as a dad, and Ali was great too. Just wanted more between them.

Overall I enjoyed The Bombshell Effect. It was a good sports romance. I would rate it higher if I connected with Allie and Luke. Sadly I didn’t and the romance wasn’t there for me. It was only simmering lightly on the surface. Luke and Faith was a highlight for me. I have a soft spot for single dads and Luke is an amazing one at that. Even though this book fell short in some ways it still makes me want to read more from the author.

three main reasons for my low rating:
1. i'm in the worst mood lately, so literally every single thing annoys me. at one point i remembered being mad at the football club name, thinking who in their right mind would name their club "the washington wolves"?! another time someone said "whyyyy was that so motherbleeping hot?" uhm... do people really say motherbleeping, is that actually a thing? please say no. therefore a lot of things got on my nerves that i usually wouldn't care about. that's the problem with being a moody reader.
2. luke pierson. judgemental asshole much? honestly couldn't stand him the most part of the book. the way he judged allie from the moment he saw her. nope, that didn't really went well. didn't connect with him at all because he was so focused on football and his career. ogan defending allie's honor ,with barely 2 sentences at the beginning of the book, was more than luke could ever do with his fist. i stopped disliking him at the 95% mark. during his love confession he said more than in the 228 pages before. the only good thing he has going on is his cute daughter.
3. the romance was super meh. allie and luke barely had any substantial moments together, then they decide to be fuck buddies for one day a week. they fucked exactly three times before shit went down to make them go their separate way and suddenly they are in love. why? where? what? i didn't get it, where was the connection? allie had more meaningful conversations with faith (luke's daughter) than with luke himself. the only thing why they are together is because allie is his boss and accept his workaholic tendencies cause she can see him at work.
– the only characters i care about are faith, paige and logan. thank the god for faith, the saving grace. kids in books are the best.. like, i totally understand it if you don't like children in real life cause obviously all the noise and they are a pain in the ass, but in books they are adorable. paige is a great side character, i really liked her and allie's friendship and i'm looking forward to read the marriage effect. and logan was maybe in just one scene, but that one scene had made an impact on me so...

The Bombshell Effect left me standing up in my seat wth fists in the air like my home team just won the Lombardi. Pure elation. Between the laughs and the lust, the love and luscious writing, I could not put this five-star read down.

This is my second book by miss Sorensen. I have a high expectation. But unfortunately i do not like this book. The story is promising. A QB falls for the owner of the team. The characters also good and promising. Allie being fearless taking over the ownership of the team despite her inexperience and her young age.
Luke is a single father who is a jerk but loving and doting father. I like the them all.
But what is missing is the plot. I dont understand why Luke pushing Allie. Why Like and Allie decides to break up or keep their relationship secret. If the reason is power play or power abuse then the author should contribute this into the plot.
But the whole book only telling the attraction between Luke and Allie. I am sorely disappointed with this book.

A cute and fast read. The little girl in here was so cute!!

4.5 "OMG. LOVE" Stars!
I love a good sports romance, especially a football romance. And The Bombshell Effect was everything I wanted to read when I picked it up. It was a sexy, fun, surprisingly heartfelt, on the edge of your seat romance that I could not put down. Luke and Allie, our main characters, have the best back-and-forth, the sassiest, funniest come backs, and the most decadent tension that burns between them. This was my first time reading Karla Sorenson, and I have to say I was so impressed. Her writing is spectacular, her character development superb, and this storyline definitely hit me in the feels. She’s an author I want to read more of, and I’m surprised I’ve waited this long to read one of her books. The Bombshell Effect was so freaking good, so swoony, so tender and sweet. There's honestly nothing you won't like. I guarantee it. It's most definitely a must read favorite sports romance of mine and I can't wait for you to dive in.
Luke and Allie are neighbors. Neighbors who don’t get off on the best foot. In fact when Luke and Allie meet they take an instant dislike to each other. Luke is an asshole, lol, definitely judgmental, rude, and rough around the edges. He's been emotionally burned by his daughters mother (yep, he's a single dad, swooooon) and he’s not receptive to woman at all.
Allie just lost her father—a man she wasn't very close with. She back in her childhood home (right next door to Luke) and while there finds out that she's inherited her Dad's most beloved thing, his Football team, the Washington Wolves. Obviously Allie has no idea that Luke is the quarterback of the Wolves, hell, this football team totally caught her off guard, and she's barely wrapped her head around the fact that her father left the team to her. And of course, Luke has NO IDEA that Allie is the new owner, if he did, he might not have treated her so badly when they first met. So the moment these two find out that they're more than just neighbors, that their lives are more intertwined than what they thought, is THE BEST THING EVER.
This story TAKES OFF. There is so much back and forth, so much push and pull between Luke and Allie. What starts off as dislike escalates into something heated and sexy and totally delicious. I ADORED everything about these characters. Loved seeing Luke's shell soften as he let Allie in. Karla did an amazing job of writing laughs and sex, but also giving us a good dose of angst that made you feel IN THIS STORY! Honestly, I just loved it. Couldn't put it down. Didn't want it to end. And I can't wait to see what's next from Karla. I'm hoping we get books for some of the other characters we meet in The Bombshell Effect because it was just so so so great.

My first book by this author and I liked it. We get a strong heroine here. She is a bit confused at first but she gets over it soon. The hero was a bit judgemental at first but he sincerely apologizes for it. He shows no disrespect toward the heroine and the way he raised his kid proves that he is a good, honorable man. This is a slow burn with a simple storyline book. Despite its simple storyline, the book was good. Because in the end, I find it free of women degrading and the hero never changes his opinion toward women because of his past experiences with his golddigger ex, whereas in other books the hero would have been bitter because of that same reason.
Safety Issue: It was perfectly safe. The hero was celibate for 6 years and the heroine was celibate also but not for long.

beginning was good, but the build up (non-sexual quality time) of the H & h’s relationship was lacking. i need something substantial & convincing in between them going from casual to serious/committed relationship. the steamy scenes werent even that hot. i feel like they went by like a blur. idk if its simply me not being able to remember, but i cant think of a scene where the H & h shared a meaningful conversation or had that one deep “youre the one” moment.
maybe thats why i thought it felt jarring how the H & h went from fuck buddies ==> third act conflict ==> public love confesstion at the end. like, i just needed to see the H & h doing less of the physical touch and more of the other love languages. the grand gesture was a little ick for me personally. also, from a personal preference standpoint (since the single dad trope is a fave of mine) i wanted to see more interactions between the main couple & the H’s daughter, especially since shes cute.

re-reading this because i wanted to read Faith's book. trying to relief some moments how Faith was really adorable with the nickname her father gave her and how stinking cute she was for a 6 years old.
i thought i was too harsh when i gave rating to this book almost 2 years ago but apparently i wasn't. i'm still bored to death reading this book and fell a sleep during the sex because it was all told in words, don't blame me. Luke Pierson is still a massive douche canoe in my eyes i would've smack his face with a stiletto if i had one. it's kinda sad Allie has that but she's not putting it on a good use once in a while.
and it's freaking embarrassing how a 36 years old—A GROWN MAN—Luke Pierson had to be told by her dearest mom to apologize for offendig a woman. sir, in your old age and with A DAUGHTER too? it's very embarrassing.
anyway, might also read my fav in this series and that is Paige and Logan and the whole Ward family because they're the only couple and family that gives me the buzz from this series.

Mi ci è voluta una spinta per leggere "Effetto bomba" perché sia la cover, sia il titolo mi lasciavano alquanto perplessa e invece davvero carino. Classico sport-romance con tanto di "Americanata" finale che tanto fa sospirare diverse lettrici. Americanata a parte, la storia di Allie e Luke è leggera, scorre senza drammi irrisolvibili e l'ho trovata un piacevole intermezzo.
Ho ritrovato alcuni elementi che mi hanno ricordato altri libri "celebri" sul genere sport-romance. L'escamotage iniziale, ad esempio, rimanda un pochino al primo libro della celeberrima serie Chicago stars della SEP, "Il gioco della seduzione", mentre il clima scanzonato tra compagni di squadra e leggermente ironico mi ha riportato alla mente la serie "Campus" della Kennedy.
Appena avrò nuovamente bisogno di leggerezza, mi butto sul secondo della serie.

Ho letto questo libro dopo aver letto l'altra serie , quella dedicata alle sorelle Ward. Visto che tra poco deve uscire un nuovo libro sulla nuova generazione, non potevo esimermi dal leggere questa, che è la capostipite, diciamo 😅. Be' è proprio quello che volevo in questo periodo : leggerezza. Lo stile fluido e scorrevole dell'autrice mi ha condotto fino alla fine velocemente. Adesso passo subito al secondo

This was a good book. I enjoyed all the scenes of Faith with Allie and her scenes with the other characters (I’m a sucker for kids in books). Since I love enemies to lovers, at the beginning I was really attached to the story but when I get to 60% everything was a little bit rushed and that made me not enjoyed the book so much.
I liked the main characters, not as much as thought I would like them but they were okay. I really love Paige. That girl and me have a lot of things in common.
Overall, this was a good book. I really enjoyed it. It has its flaws but it’s still enjoyable. I’d recommend it.

More of a high two, tipping up to three for the references to Michigan State (Go Green! Go White!) There is nothing wrong with this, it is so generic it is almost a parody. In the last year or so I have found, to my surprise, that I rather like many sports themed romances, but here the characters were not well developed enough. Rather than build the characters the author simply substituted a poor little rich girl with complicated feelings about her recently deceased father and an NFL quarterback single and devoted father, both of whom are uncommonly attractive and hard-working, and let us fill in the rest of their stories from our assumptions about who they are based on that. It was not enough for me, but it was perfectly pleasant.

A sweet football romance!
I actually didn’t read the synopsis for this one. I just figured it’d be a fun sports romance from the cover, and it was essentially that, but both characters were interesting and had good back stories. I liked that Luke is a single dad, and that his daughter has a connection with the heroine without it feeling forced. Allie faces the things thrown at her head on, and I loved that. These characters have their ups and downs, but thankfully the ups win.
All in all a good American football romance read!

The first thing I want to say about this book is that the dual narration was awesome! The male narrator Troy Duran has such a great- strong- manly voice!!! I find many romance audiobooks that have such swoon worthy male characters.....don't always have a manly voice to back it up and that usually breaks my connection with characters instantly.
These 2 had a great little story - Luke and Allie were very fun, had great chemistry and the added bonus......the cuteness of Luke's daughter. Throw in some football and it was nice read! I think it's a trilogy and since all 3 are on hoopla - I will probably be downloading the next one when I'm in the mood for a sporty fun romance!

At first, they don’t really get along, but the more time they spend around each other, the more they realize they actually enjoy it. Not only that, but the attraction they felt and dismissed at first also starts to get harder to ignore, no matter how much they want and try to.
Allie is a strong, determined, and amazing woman. I loved how she never backed down and faced everything with her chin up. Luke was unreasonable at times, but I grew to understand him as the chapters passed by, and I know everything he did was to protect his daughter. He ended up being more lovable than I thought possible, and I wish there were more scenes of him with Faith because she was just so adorable and cute.

Sure, it felt a bit rushed, and I missed more scenes of the couple just being a couple and family scenes with Faith, but their development and story’s pace were overall great. To me, he seemed angry. He may have been hot and a good father, but that's about all he had going for him.
Allie's father, the owner of the football team Luke was QB for, died and she inherited the team. Coincidentally, she also moved in next door to Luke. Allie is beautiful, inside and out. I like that she acknowledged her beauty and didn't try to play it off. She was a good person.
They decide to engage in a once a week sexual encounter and keep it all on the down low. It works until they are outed in the media. Things get real... quick.
The author takes a couple moments in the story to highlight the unfairness between the sexes. I respected that. Allie said it wasn't fair that she looks like a tramp and people would judge her negatively for having a relationship with Luck while he'd get a pat on the back. So true. Thank you author.
Safety: Both are sexually experienced. He did tell the reader he'd had good sex in the past... even great sex. I could have done without reading that. He also says he used to take advantage of the readily available sex the athletes are offered. And obviously that's how he ended up with his daughter.

He initially thought his neighbor was a groupie but when he finds out she's his new boss he still thought she wasn't a good person because he thought she'd abandoned her father. The two get close in a once a week sex agreement until their private business becomes very public.
I loved Allie, she was sweet,kind and a good person but she also had a strong backbone and a sharp tongue she wasn't afraid of using. I liked her budding relationship with Luke's daughter and would've liked to see more interaction between them.
