Cowboy Protector by Margaret Daley is book three in the multi author series, Protecting the Witnesses. These books each focus on a different couple but have an underlying thread throughout the series.

Jen Davis, now going by Hannah Williams, went into witness protection five years ago and relocating to Montana. Two years ago, she left the program and went on her own. Now she goes from job to job as a home health care nurse, changing her name regularly and never staying in one place for long. Her newest job is with a rancher in Sweet Creek, Montana who needs care for his injured five year old daughter. Hannah feels like a ranch in the middle of nowhere should be a safe place for her, right?!

Austin Taylor has his hands full with trying to care for his seriously injured five year old daughter, Misty, watching out for his elderly grandmother who lives with him, and running a very large ranch. He is also dealing with the anger left over from his very deceitful, now deceased wife that caused the injuries to his daughter. Hannah comes highly recommended and he needs her. But it’s obvious she’s hiding something and with all he’s been through, truth is something he requires. Can he trust her?

The chemistry between Hannah and Austin is pretty immediate. But Hannah doesn’t ever allow herself to get attached in any way. She knows she will be moving on soon. Little Misty, though, still winds her way into her heart, as well as her father. As if these two don’t have enough on their plates, though, danger seems to seek them out anyway. In many different forms.

This may contain: a snow covered road with trees on both sides

This was another suspenseful, sweet addition to this series. I felt so bad for all these two were having to go through. I read it pretty quickly, needing to know how it all turned out. Not only did they have to deal with danger coming at them from all different directions, they were also dealing with crazy Montana weather.

You could jump into this series at any point if one of the authors is a favorite of yours but you would enjoy them more if you read them in order.

Jen Davis enters the Witness Protection Program and is relocated as Hannah Williams. Thinking that there was something wrong within the system she leaves the program and is on the run. Taking one job after another in different towns to stay ahead of those that are seeking her. She ends up in Montana at the Taylor Ranch taking care of Austin Taylor's daughter.

The storyline is well thought out with lots of surprises and suspense. Good characters that you can relate to.

Can Hannah ever feel safe? You need to read the story to find out. You won't be disappointed.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a love story, tragedy, redemption, forgiveness all rolled into one. The characters were smart, resourceful people, not idiots making dumb decisions. I liked that they weren’t I a love hate relationship. That gets so old. It was also nice that there wasn’t drama around every corner and turn of page. It was enough to be interesting but not irritating.

Hannah decides she is better off on her own with out the Marshall's protection. Could it be there is a leak in the Marshall's office? But now she is putting innocent people in harms way and doesn't know who is hunting her until it almost too late.

I was not that captivated with this one.
.seems like they just had to add something to keep the series going? I hope the next one is as exciting as the first two books in this series.

#3 Protecting the Witnesses

Operation Black Veil: The woman in the black veil has told FBI Special Agent Jackson McGraw that Salvatore Martino, former don of the Martino Crime family, is seriously ill. It has been confirmed that his son wants to kill Eloise Hill, the girl who put his father behind bars, before he dies as a tribute to him.

As long as she keeps changing her name & moving locations, she can stay a step ahead of the men she has testified against. She left the Witness Protection Program 2 years ago & is going it alone.

A nurse by trade, Hannah Williams applies for the job of caring for rancher Austin Taylor's disabled daughter, Misty. She would be safe there, out of the way for a couple of months. She wasn't supposed to let the family enter her heart.

Austin Taylor has vowed not to let another woman close. Ranching is his life & women can't handle the remoteness - his late wife certainly couldn't. She caused the accident which took her life & left their daughter badly injured. But the new nurse seems different & creeps into his heart, bringing to life a part of him he thought was long since dead...until she tells him who she actually is.

The mob are looking for green-eyed women in a certain age range who are in or have been in the Witness Protection Program hoping to track down a certain Eloise Hill, & Hannah is next on the list. Will Austin let the hurts of the past distance him from Hannah, or will he step up & be her cowboy protector?

I loved this continuation in the Protecting the Witnesses miniseries. You really do need to read these books in order as each book, while a story on it's own, also has a plot which runs & develops through all the 6 books, building up to the grand finale in book 6. This means that you will not only want to read this book, but also the other 5 in the series! So if you are looking for a one off story to read, then this is not the book for you. However, if you are short of reading material & want a series to get you going, then this series will be ideal!

Protecting the Witnesses miniseries:
1. Twin Targets (Protecting the Witnesses, #1) by Marta Perry 2. Killer Headline (Protecting the Witnesses, #2) by Debby Giusti 3. Cowboy Protector (Protecting the Witnesses, #3) by Margaret Daley
4. Deadly Vows (Protecting the Witnesses, #4 ) by Shirlee McCoy 5. Fatal Secrets (Protecting the Witnesses , #5) by Barbara Phinney 6. Risky Reunion (Protecting the Witnesses, #6) by Lenora Worth

Jen Davis alias Hannah Williams moved every few months and changed her name every 6 months. After testifying about a murder she seen, the man's brother threatened her life and she became part of the Witness Protection Program. She had nothing to do with the mob in Chicago but being she was in the WPP and had green eyes- she was hunted, only she did not know it.

Austin Taylor needed someone to care for her daughter as she recovered from a car accident. His granny's friend, Saul, was being taken care of by Hannah and he highly recommended her as a home care companion.

Between the Chicago Mob and LA angry brother trouble finally finds the hidden Jen Davis.

Protecting the Witness
Book 3

This was a great book about a woman who was in the witness protection program, but left when she feared she'd been found. She's not protecting herself the best she can and takes a job at an isolated ranch to take care of a little girl injured in a car accident that took the life of her mother.

Both Hannah and Austin were great, strong characters. The romance developed nicely. I loved the chemistry that had through the last half of the book. The author didn't force them to hold back their feelings and emotions until the very end.

This book had a couple twists in it. And this is a series that MUST be read in order! Check out the other books (there are six)

It was a good book. Third in a series. This is about Hannah (Jen Davis) that left witness protection because she thought the program had failed her. she is hired to work on a ranch to help care for Rancher's daughter after a bad car accident. Though she thinks that she can't stay on with this family that she has come to care a great deal for because of her situation. Then her past comes knocking.

Awww happy endings! Took a while to get there though. Well written; I fell in love with the characters. I'm a little disappointed it's not a true series, but I'm interested in the other books in the genre.

2.5 stars. Short, mindless entertainment. Not bad, but marred by tons of editing issues.
