They say there's no rest for the wicked, and New Orleans never knew how true that was until I came to town.

Nobody told me that when I entered the transition, the very gifts of my demonic lineage would be used against me. Nobody warned me that the flames of Hell would burn from within. Or that I'd be driven to lust and madness, my chaotic magic becoming more wild and unruly than ever before.

The only way to save myself--and the world--was to give the beast what she control.

As if transitioning wasn't enough, my presence was now known, and my enemies were mounting. While the beast was intent on claiming our Four Horsemen, there were things to be done. People to find. Demons to kill.

And when they make a deal with the devil--let's just say that neither world will ever be the same again.

Long live the Queen.

If I can survive becoming immortal, that is.

This book made me swing between annoyed, enraged and engaged, which is an annoying combo, as the engagement still just about makes me want to read on.

Good news - she FINALLY transitions, so that's out of the way.

Bad news - apart from possibly Moira, the rest of the characters just make stupid ass decision after stupid ass decision, and it gets old real quick.

I do like the over arching world and grand scheme of things though. I just wish more was made of it and the characters didn't act like a bunch of fucking idiots all of the time!

Never thought I'd say this, but I wanted to slap the horsemen so bad! Like seriously! And I totally understood Beast and how fucking annoyed she got with all the crap.

This book takes up right where the last one ended - and the transition is here. Things would have gone a lot smoother if the horsemen had treated Ruby like an adult. Instead they are hell bent on trying to wrap her in bubble wrap - and I can see why almost EVERY alpha male in EVERY other book wants to do but DOES NOT! It is fucking stupid.

She is an adult. They know it. Want to fuck her. But when it comes to actually talking to her - well, then she's not really adult enough for them. It is not even about her making decisions - they are not even willing to give her breathing space to think or any information. How do they expect her to rule Hell then? And especially with

It seriously turned me off - and what Death did felt rapey to me. He took her choice away while she had been AGONIZING over doing the same to them. I genuinely could not think of it any other way.

And she did not punish the Horsemen at all. In fact, especially with she should have raked Death over the coals. I also think I would not be so bloody annoyed if at least one of them had taken her side - which War almost did. But almost is not enough. Not at all.

I am really in two minds about reading the later books if this is how it is going to be. They say she is their Queen and then bloody act like her guardians who also want to fuck her, with murky consent.

I liked Moira in this book. I liked Bandit. That was about it.

The entire bloody book was redundant! The plotline was that the heroine becomes powerful. That's it!

First of all - personal issue - was there no erotica before 50 shades of grey? Every author seems to think that the only way to make a book steamy is to introduce BDSM into their sex scenes AND conversations. Really? Despite all the authors out there, I somehow don't think that every conversation between a guy and a girl should include mention of the guy wanting to tie the girl up. I don't mind reading kinky sex scenes, but I draw the line when every author in all their sex scenes (this triples or quadruples in RH) is all about the hero dominating the heroine. Trust me, it gets real old, real quick.

Now coming back to this book, this issue really, really annoyed me when Julian only cares about dominating her, while she was in excruciating pain, which was incidently his fault. Their entire realtionship was bullsh*t. I didn't even understand (or care) why Julian wasn't persuing her before and why this was such a big deal.

For a being that is all-powerful, she lets an awfully lot of people boss her. I found Ruby weak and stupid. For a cunning, centuries old, sociopathic demon that is heir to the Hell's throne, she is easily manipulated. I expected a hell lot more from her and this series.

I liked the first two books, but this one has issues

I am all for alpha males. Heck, I don't really like reverse harems, but the writing on this series was good enough that I wanted to keep reading. The author's writing is still good enough that I am giving it three stars.

But, there is a storyline in the book that borders on triggering material and it isn't mentioned. Places where the heroine has her will taken away by one of the men that supposedly loves her. It feels a lot like when someone who doesn't know BDSM writes about it, and doesn't seem to realize that everything in that life is about consent. Because the heroine doesn't consent, and she's forced into situations that she doesn't like. And of course, somehow, she actually ends up liking it as it happens.

I am disappointed because of how good the first two books are, but not surprised. It happens to many authors of romance. And someone else might be fine with it, because I assume otherwise these storylines wouldn't sell well.

That said, I still really loved Ruby and Moira. That particular storyline disappointed me all the more because I thought Ruby would actually teach them that she was an equal. Because she deserves to be.

This went in a bit of a different direction from what I was expecting after reading books 1 and 2.

I don't feel a pressing need to continue this series once the next book is released.

As much as I liked this book, I also seriously disliked it. I am just super bored with this whole thing. Which totally sucks because the storyline to this is so incredibly intriguing. But like there is so much boring stuff thrown in here that it makes it almost unbearable to read.

Seriously, I think the promise of awesome smut at the very beginning was what kept be reading. That and the fact that my girl, Jamie, is BRing this with me.

Ruby just gets more and more annoying throughout the entirety of this book. She started out as such a strong heroine. Badass and independent. Takes no shit female who handles her own. But she just acts like a child throughout this book and it's infuriating. I honestly couldn't stand her in most parts.

Moira and Bandit are my favorite part of the book. Which is sad because there is four sexy af guys in this story. And I couldn't stand their stupidity thorughout this book either.

All in all, I think I will be super glad when the final book comes out and I'm just done with this... Meh.

I will say one thing about Carpenter, she is an equal opportunity author. Too often we come across the FMCs that make us feel like smacking them on the head for all the stupid things they do and we pity the MMCs that have to deal with all that stupidity. Well in this series I think the MMCs give the h the run for her money for all the stupidest things that they do. It takes talent to make the Four Horsemen act like stooges. I don't know if this is what Carpenter was going for, but I have never come across the worst depiction of the horsemen of apocalypse. I feel sorry for Moira for having to deal with the 5 idiots.

And, where the hell are the horses, or any kind of rides for that matter, just saying!

This series will be beyond my undoing. I absolutely love Kel Carpenter's writing and story telling. The fact that this book is under 300 pages and is actually a quick read makes them all the better. As the heir to hell who wouldn't be surprised with all of the things that get thrown at you but to be honest with you, some of the things that get thrown are beyond my predictability and I absolutely loved it. And the horsemen are something that will forever be in my dreams because GOOD LORD.

I just can't do this. I read through the reviews to see if it gets any better but nope, it does not! Apparently Julian does something fucked up (more than what he already did) and Ruby just forgives him.

I wanted to finish it, maybe even read the next one too. I LOVED the FMC and her badass bff Moira and pet raccoon Bandit. But the problem is that one does not read a RH only for the girls (and pets). It is just a simple fact.

In the first two book I didn't really care about the men, didn't like them, didn't hate them. They were just... there. Looking pretty and brooding and failing terribly at what they were created to do. But in this one... Oh, boy! I HATED them. First Allistair and then Julian... These guys don't know anything about consent! They keep trying to cage Ruby and putting her in situations that she has no choice but screw them! Like... wtf?

I can hear people saying: "They are demons, they don't have human morals!" But I do and this shit is disturbing, okay?? "But she likes it in the end!" Don't even get me started with this shity excuse to justify all the fucked up things.

Look... I have read worse things and I am talking about really disturbing stuff. But none of them tried to justify it. Most of the time, the characters were actually sorry for their behavior and they tried to redeem themselves. Or they were just villains and I was supposed to hate them anyway. But these guys are the heroes! The ones I was supposed to be swooning over! And I definitely can't imagine Julian saying sorry or showing remorse.

Maybe there will be some character development in the last book, maybe not. But there wasn't any in the first three and I can't put up with this just for a maybe. So, here we go! My first DNF of the year. I don't really DNF books actually, like... ever. Well, that's saying something.

As the lives of those she cherishes most become threatened Ruby has no choice but to accept her new role as the future Queen of Hell. Since she’s been living in denial since long, she barely even knows what to expect when her transition hits and boy does it. The change causes excruciating pain and brings out the Beast inside of her. I love getting glimpses of Ruby’s darker side, she’s equal parts fierce and frightening and may or may not be capable of destroying the planet and bringing the apocalypse. I’m not sure if was transition related or not but Ruby was hella horny this time around basically humping legs until the guys give in. But with her transition heat in control the guys are hesitant to take advantage, that is until she starts marking and branding them. Then the possessive alphas in them shine bright. Sadly though they do need to learn to let go when it comes to Ruby. She has the insanest and most dangerous powers and should not be coddled yet that’s all they try to do. I’m more worried they’re going to cause the apocalypse just by pissing her off and trying to dictate her life. Another super quick read and I’m glad by the end it’s clear they will finally be going to their future forever home: HELL! It’s about damn time!

I quit at maybe 45-50%. At this point.....

No romantic development though the h has made out with some of the guys and her beast claimed 2 of them
We're "told" a lot of stuff....if this happens the world will burn, if this occurs there'd be no stopping the flames, if this.....basically touting the h as the biggest badass but so far I've seen a lot of reckless behavior from her and not much badassery. Cryptic statements overflow these books
The h apparently is half succubus with a beast inside her because well she's also Lucifer's daughter. They are two entities in one body so the beast gets her share of the spotlight. Honestly everything was just overdone and drawn out and I'm just over it

I liked Bandit the pet raccoon and Moira the Banshee best friend
The end

Ex drama from the h's cheating ex in books 1 and 2. He drugged and attempted to rape her

A bit confusing

I don’t really know what happened in the middle of the volume... One moment, things were preceding mostly understandably, and the next, I didn’t understand why Ruby was running, and why the Horsemen acted the way they did. It took quite a bit before the author sort of inserted reasons for the previous actions, but it still wasn’t very clear and I felt like the story lost itself in this book. It was a bit disappointing. I’m hoping the next volume has smoother and more rational transitions.

3 ⭐️ OMG, why are the horsemen so bleeding annoying in this book? Just concentrate, for goodness sake! They are all over the bleeding place?!?!?
Ruby has FINALLY transitioned (went on a bit long for my liking), but I really enjoyed seeing the changes she went through (along with Moira and Bandit) in this book. I'm just hanging in there, wanting to find out what happens at the end of this series.

I DNFed after 3 out of 4 books because it just no longer made any sense at all.

The first book had such promise, but book two got confusing and then in book 3 the wheels just completely fell off the wagon.

What I enjoyed before the wheels fell off? The banter, the wit, the humor and the chemistry between the characters.

She was just so mad at absolutely everything. She's been mad for the last 2 books and constantly pissed at all 4 of the horseman. Her walls are so high that even 3 books in they haven't come down. It's...exhausting and a little bit toxic.

Fucking annoying!!! So the story line it’s self is good. This series had a potential to be epic, captivating, and dynamic. Here you have a woman who is the Queen of fucking HELL. Yet she isn’t stronger than her mates. She started out independent and badass. But that was before her transition. Before her beast.

Why do so many authors (female ones at that) do this? Why can’t the woman be strong and badass and not allow a man to mistreat her? Because he has a penis? Because he can fuck good? The moment I was pushed off a cliff I’d be done he’d be dead. I don’t care the reason. There’s no excuse for abuse. It’s not funny or amusing and women shouldn’t have to take it.

There are not many authors that have truly strong heroines. That take no shit. Who are strong and badass. Who let no one mistreat them. Write more books like that and I might actually finish them. Do better!!!

The book sure does turn up the heat, and the Beast comes out for some play time. Ruby is just as strong as ever and truly comes into the queen she is meant to be. Favorite line by Julian "Hell's heir, you may be, but no one court's Death unless you wish to submit." Just can't get enough of these book. Sitting on the edge of my seat for the next one.

Sorry, but the story line lost me on this one. Without spoiling anything, let me just say that one of the Horsemen went too far in trying to control Ruby, and her willingness to forgive him so quickly just pisses me off. She should have cut off his d***. What? They’re all immortal. It would have grown back. DNF.

And so we have book 3... Where to start.

STUFF HAPPENS.
Beasts are let out!
GIANT TRASH PANDAS!
TWO WEEK ORGI?!

Firstly: the events LEADING up to the beast being let out were kind of confusing. But nonetheless, Ruby is traipsing through New Orleans in a mini-dress and heels until her mates finally find her and it.is.ON.

So everything I've been waiting for happens. Shit is hitting the fan.
Finally. I've only waited two and a half books for something more than the slow ascend that was book 1 and 2.

I will say I hope there is more development between her and her men. I get it that Moira is her familiar (did I say this already in my last review of book 2?) but sometimes it feels very Moira and Ruby centered.

I had so much more to say Friday when I read most of the book, and I just got to finish the ending this morning. Now I can't remember anything of what I was going to say. I am much more witty on the spot.

Sadly book 4 isn't out. If it is the last installment of the series I hope it is stellar. Not that the other books haven't been but it's been a slow start.

I'm having some mixed feelings about this book. While it was clear in its comments regarding consent, and things really started happening, I kept feeling like I missed things - that may have been my own health's fault, but I have to take that into account - and I was often confused at events and their circumstances.

The story did very much move forward, however, and the drama of the previous books seems to be mostly resolved. There's a lot of graphic sex, however, so be warned.

Another thing that's keeping me a little on the fence, is that I got somewhat bored toward the end. I'm glad the book was longer than the previous ones - I almost know what horseman and power each of the guys has! Finally! - but I felt like it dragged a little. And, honestly, this whole series could have been one or two longer books without some of the drama, and still been a good book. But I also understand why it wasn't done like that.

Oh well, I'm on to the last book in the series, I've gotten this far this fast, why slow down now, am I right?

~I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review~

Kel did an AMAZING job with this one! I was absolutely addicted while reading from the first page to the last page and I still wanted more. Kel does a great job with creating awesome heroines and Ruby is definitely one of them! Infernal Desires picks up right where the previous book left off so I’d suggest a reread if you haven’t read book two in awhile.

Ruby deals with a lot of things this book and sets up more of what we might see in the next book. If the last page was any hint of what we are to expect for the next book then I’m going to be waiting very impatiently for the next release.

Sniggering at parts I enjoy this fmc
I also enjoy her familiars.
Narration is good Kel does a great job as per usual.

Looking forward to the last book, I’m not overly invested in the relationship with the horsemen. We havnt really received a decent background on any of them and I also don’t have a favourite. One of the first rh story I’ve listened to that I couldn’t actually care less if the relationships work out or not. Here’s hoping the last book develops the relationships more.

This book is the third of its series. The first book was pretty cliche and not very deep, but a quick and easy read that intrigued me toward the end. The second book was pretty good because it felt like there was a lot more character development, steamy encounters, and a bit more world building. This one, however, felt all over the place. The story took place over a few weeks. There wasn't really character development, and even the steamy scenes seemed to get out of control with multiple people involved and even trying to romanticise anal sex at one point.

All in all, it left me disappointed. If I read the next book, it will only be because it's the last in the series.

Kel Carpenter's books, especially this series, never ceases to amaze me. I knew when I begin reading Infernal Desires, I wouldn't want be able to put down this bewitching book. I heeded my own advice and started reading the next day, let me tell you, I was not disappointed. This book, I think, is where Ruby and co. enter the bigger game, where their patience and everything in them really gets tested. I honestly cannot wait for Brimstone Nightmares!

Kel has done it again!!!!! An absolutely amazing book. It kept me captivated from the very first page till the last. The books in the series just keep getting better and better. I love Ruby and how her character grows and how she deals with the beast within her(which I love) . I can not wait for the next book. This one was so good I can only imagine how good the next will be.

Lucifer’s Daughter is Back!

Now that Ruby is undergoing the transition things are beyond out of hand and the beast is rattling its cage. The four horsemen were created to control it but the Beast isn’t controlled by anyone. I love the chapter from the guys POV and love, love, love Bandit! Who doesn’t love a fury little feisty trash panda? Cannot wait for book 4.
