This comic novel follows the hilarious misadventures of a knight and his horse. These two inspiring characters are about to leap into another death-defying adventure. Only the noble knight, Sir Glame, and his faithful horse Bill can save the sweet land of Sausagopolis from the curse of the saucy scribblings—a curse so terrible it warps and twists the minds of kids. This graphic novel is perfect for reluctant readers; it's so fun, they won't even realize they're learning.
Picked this up in the library because it looked interesting and I happen to occasionally like plotless, pointless and pathetic books. The first few pages I loved. And then the knight leaves to catch some scoundrel (after a big kiss from the king - what???) The book then goes steadily downhill. We move on to crude jokes, including one about cute woodland creatures and how they don't wear pants, a fuzzy cannibal thing named "Mama", and a little poem about guts. Skipping ahead, a random beautiful woman dressed in a bikini (Again - what???). Skipping ahead to the end, we find the knight and his horse fighting an extremely gruesome battle. Hello? I found this in the kid's section. This is NOT a book appropriate for kids, or anyone for that matter. I would not recommend it to anybody. There are some funny quotes, and the first few pages are great. But this book is NOT good.
I read Plotless, Pointless, Pathetic for the first time when i was about 10 (roughly when it came out) and i remember it being just about the funniest thing i'd come across. I re-read it so many times and couldn't get enough of the antics of the quite possibly mentally unstable Sir Glame and the deadpan humour of Bill, the irreverent other characters and the crazy (and pointless) situations and mini adventures between chapters.
I've picked it up a number of times since that first year or so i had it and it's still bizarre and surprising as ever and i continue to laugh at it and will do so every time i pick it up.
Some things are just meant to be good, dumb fun and this is certainly all that and more. Couldn't recommend it enough for a kid who enjoys a good laugh.
As its name implies. I actually only read half of it because after halfway I really couldn't read anymore. I don't know how joshua wright did it, but everything in the book is plotless, pointless, pathetic, and in my opininon, completely irrelevant. Interesting actually!
