Raised in a small Midwestern farming community, Michael left home at twenty to explore the world. After spending most of the ’70s in the United States Air Force, he earned an MBA and went to work in corporate finance. Twenty years later, his interest in the way people live, love, and work led him to change careers. Today Michael travels extensively as a performance coach for small businesses. He’s lived in eight states and traveled to forty countries in Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. His interests include medical technology, international affairs, and global finance. Michael believes the true measure of a person or group can be determined by observing how they act in a crisis.
I couldn’t decide if I felt this book was 2 stars or 3. The story was ok, but it felt like I was being lectured constantly. It sometimes felt like I was reading a textbook.
I also felt that the attention Quinn got every time they were in public was unrealistic. I’ve known very handsome men and none have been constantly hit on in public, especially when they are with a date. The entire trip to Asia was pretty boring too. After finishing my review I decided 2 stars.
This was an all-right book. The romance was understated (ie all FTB) and very few kisses. The story involved multi-million dollar international business deals, a riot, home invasion, miscommunication, betrayal, loss and redemption and should have been an exciting, rollercoaster read but instead was people sitting around, having calm conversations and asking each other thoughtful questions. I guess this is a sign of maturity and while I’m not a fan of drama for drama’s sake, a bit more excitement would have been nice. I was never worried things would not turn out all right for our MCs.
Overall, not a bad read but I felt the story got bogged down in the middle when I felt I was in the middle of a TED talk about business culture in south east Asia and its effect on the LGBT community.
Overall not a bad May-September romance between a landscape company owner and a rich business owner. However, the story got bogged down by the info dumps the author kept including and the stilted conversations between characters. In addition, the author made the unusual decision to include the POV of the ex-partner for one of the main characters. All in all it made the book feel longer to read than 188 pages.
This book was amazing it had me smiling crying. Learning a lot about other places how they live. I say you need to read this book it has so much to teach you how people live
