Twitter aficionado Eriko "Ellie" Ichimura and school heartthrob Akira Ohmi continue dating behind the backs of the entire school. However, a wrench is thrown into their relationship when Ellie's classmate Kaname-kun develops a sudden interest in her, asking to be her friend. A series of misunderstandings causes a rift between Ellie and Sara-chan ... to say nothing of Omi-kun's jealousy. As if that weren't enough on Ellie's plate, Kaname-kun experiences a romantic awakening ( ... or ... something) and sends her reeling with his words! Presenting Volume 7 of a plain girl's wacky romance!
When Kaname develops new found feelings for Ellie, he tries his best to win her over.
I put a pause on pretty much all other reading these past two weeks to catch up on Yona of the Dawn and now that that’s over I really needed a pick me up. I decided to finish up this volume of Lovesick Ellie, but since the two series are quite different (Lovesick Ellie’s really just romance and character driven) it felt a bit jarring. But oh, this was just what I needed, I can always count on Lovesick Ellie to put a smile on my face. I’ve honestly never been so endeared to a shoujo protagonist before, but Ellie just seems so genuine and kind, and I admire her for always trying her hardest, and for taking responsibility over a situation, even when its not on her to do so. As for the other female characters of this series though (not including Sara), I really do wish they paid more attention to Ellie's efforts and I find it pretty annoying that they’re always acting like they own Ohmi.
Kaname is one of my favourite rivals, while he may not be liked by his classmates, I find him super likeable. He was a bit much in this volume, when it comes to how pushy he was initially being towards Ellie, but I do attribute some of that to his difficultly with social interactions. I was definitely rooting for a friendship between Kaname and Ohmi though, as their scenes together were some of my favourites of the volume. I’m really pleased with how Kaname’s arc wrapped up in this volume and I hope we get to see more from him in the future.
And as always, it’s super fun seeing Ohmi get really embarrassed when he expresses his genuine emotions.
Continuing from the previous volume, this volume focused on the love triangle between Omi, Kaname, and Ellie. Honestly, I like Omi and Ellie and I think their relationship is cute and all, but Kaname has also grown on me. I think in the sense, he is the anti-thesis of Omi-kun. He is frank, says what he thinks, and is super awkward; whereas Omi always acts perfect in front of others and has a lot of friends. There were times where I thought Kaname acted too weird (I'm not a fan of people who say tell what I have to do to make you like me) but regardless, I love his awkwardness and all. I'm kinda bummed that they finished this story arc just within this volume. I wish they would've explored Kaname, Omi, and Ellie too for at least one more volume. I would wish this isn't the last time that we will be seeing Kaname. But anyway, I like how because of Kaname, Omi is starting to become more honest towards Ellie.

This volume focused on Ellie and Sara's friendship and a misunderstanding that is causing them to pull apart from each other. And it doesn't help that Kaneky is causing Ellie to doubt her actions and her intentions toward her friend so it's super emotional. But then our beautiful Omi-kun is helping Ellie in the best way and making her happy again.
A new contender has appeared to try and take Ellie's heart. I doubt he'll succeed Ellie really likes Ohmi and I can't imagine Ohmi giving Ellie up either.
Listen…Kaname was being so sincere in his love to Ellie that I was blushing *furiously* and had to stop and pause multiple times reading this volume because Ohmi was ALSO doing the same thing as well!! I really, deeply love Ellie and this series so much.

This volume was great! I absolutely loved when Omie got jealous—it was so adorable. However, I didn’t like how he kissed Ellie to cut their conversation short. They really need to communicate more about what’s going on. As for Ellie, I feel she should have taken Kaname-kun more seriously, or at least the situation in general, especially when rumors about them started to spread. Since she thought he was just playing around and the rumors would eventually die down, she didn’t take them seriously. It’s not until the end of this volume, when Kaname clears up the dating rumors, that she finally takes a moment to kindly turn him down, thank him for what he did, and make it clear that Omie-kun is the only one for her.
Another thing I really liked in this volume was the interaction between Omie-kun and Kaname. I found their rivalry funny and important, as it helped them learn more about each other and their views on relationships. Kaname believes Omie-kun is a people pleaser who enjoys having all the girls fawn over him, while Kaname feels that if you like someone, you should focus solely on them. This perspective pushes Omie-kun to consider revealing his relationship with Ellie to the whole school, which shows growth—he’s realizing he can’t be every girl’s prince.
I also appreciated how Omie-kun explained to Kaname that he struggles with confidence just like everyone else, and that his kindness stems from fear of what people might actually think of him. Moreover, I think Kaname is confusing being in love with simply liking people as friends. He even mentioned that he loves Omie-kun and Ellie, but not in a romantic way, which is likely why Omie-kun wanted Kaname to tell Ellie the truth—he has a soft spot for him.
After this volume, I hope Kaname will officially join the friend group. I find the three of them absolutely adorable and hilarious together.

4.5 STARS This was such a cute installment and Ellie was the best main character to follow. The added drama with Kaname was really interesting, and added some tension to Eriko and Akira's relationship. It was so cute seeing them grow into their relationship and become more comfortable as a couple. Akira was ready to announce to the school that they were a couple, to make sure everyone knew that Eriko was his. This was so cute and made me so happy for them. This was such a great and fun story, with a lovey art style. This was so worth the read and so enjoyable.

Much more balanced this volume, thank god! Though it did seem almost anticlimatic how things played out, but I think that may be on purposse because things haven't actually been worked out yet. Sneeeeaaaaakkkkky. Maybe. We'll just have to see. Also, we kind of dropped Sara-chan for the most part this volume. I hope she's back more in the next. She lends a lot to the story.
I'm glad that Omi and Kaname at least worked things out in the end, although I'm pretty sure Kaname is still confused how to socialise like a normal human being.
I do wish Ellie would let others know about their relationship too, like Omi wanted. Sure, I guess she's probably going to get hurt (which I hope she doesn't) but it's not any better for everyone to keep misunderstanding things.
And gosh why do these girls feel entitled towards who or when Omi can date??? BACK. OFF.
Kaname-kun has really grown on me and even after everything, I’m really glad that he and Ellie are still cool with each other. I hope that Kaname-kun helps Ellie with developing a backbone to stand up to people. I also enjoyed seeing Omi-kun jealous and nearly all of his interactions with Kaname-kun.
I actually feel really bad for Kaname, not enough to ship him with Ellie, but I do want him to be happy and be able to be friends with Ellie and Ohmi. Meanwhile, in the pervy corner, we have Ohmi and Ellie getting better and better at being honest with each other and keeping the communication open, they're honestly one of the healthiest couples I've ever seen lol
okay. much better than the last volume, though I still feel like the ‘love triangle’ came on so suddenly and it really went back and forth a whole lot for only a few chapters. I did like how it was resolved…but I didn’t feel much of a connection between kaname and ohmi
ellie and ohmi need to go public already though, for real!!

Omg this is just getting better and better. I hate how all the girls always tell Ohmi he can’t have a girlfriend because everyone will be sad… it’s not fair.
I can’t wait for him to tell everyone he’s dating Ellie!!
Also can we give Kaname his own love story please!!
ya no hay triángulo amoroso! pero me gustaría que kaname siguiera apareciendo, siento que es un personaje que podría tener potencial, siento que es bastante realista como muestren que no sabe muy bien como expresar sus emociones <3

Cuties continue to be cute, a potential love triangle is happening!!
On that, I really like that Kaname struggles with the concept of friendship vs love. He's a really interesting character and makes for a good love rival.
This volume predominantly focused on Kaname and his awkward pursuit of Ellie.
I really like Kaname. He is so earnest, but sometimes his inability to understand social cues makes him go a bit too far, which gives me secondhand embarrassment. (Me too though, so no judgement here.)
