From the extroadinary creator of "Miss Spider" by David Kirk, here is the first in a gorgeous new series of books for the littlest, biddlest readers.
Little Bird is hungry! Mommy always feeds him, but now the time has arrived for Little Bird to venture from the nest and find a tasty bite to eat on his own. As Little Bird finds his way around Biddle Wood, he wisely remembers the lessons his mother—who is watching from afar—has taught him. Never choose meals that are bigger than you! How proud she is of her biddle bird when he finally finds a snack.
Young children and their parents will delight in this sweet, reassuring story about exploring one’s own independence.
David Kirk is the creator of children's books that follow the character Miss Spider. Before writing books, he made colorful toys that were sold in hand-painted boxes. He was urged to write children's books when his toys caught the interest of a book packager. It wasn't difficult to figure out what he would use as characters in his stories: his daughter, Violet, had a liking for bugs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_K...

Beautifully written simple story by Mr Kirk. Set in rhythmic rhyme and one line per page with beautiful illustrations talks about a baby bird setting out on his own to find a snack. And how Momma bird is happy for him in the end and sings loud enough for the entire garden to hear. Children can feel how proud Little Biddle Bird was of himself.
This is a great early reader. My daughter really enjoyed reading this although some words are more complicated. A fun adventure for a baby bird when his mother leaves him alone. He gets the chance to explore his independence and learns lessons along the way.
I like the illustrations in this book and would consider buying it to cut the pages out and frame them for nursery. The story is fine, though perhaps a bit too simplistic for my 3.5 year old.
It was fun to just pick up this book and read today. It was one of my teen daughter's favorite books when she was a toddler. Just enjoying the memories.
