I just finished this and Im rather disappointed. This started out so good. For a while there I couldn’t put the book down, I love a widowed H and the h was the right amount of quirky and innocent. Well I dont know what happened but somewhere along the way the h's personality changed a bit.. she had a couple episodes of witchiness but even that wasnt too catty. The H was too in love with his late wife too far into the book. I admitbut I started getting worried when it was 70 somethine percent and he is still mad at her for cutting his wife's roses (Although I LOVE those instances where a widowed H gets mad because the h somehow changes something of his late wife's.. The coffee pot thing in this book was cute IMO) and his turn around was way to abrupt for me.. We know he likes her or admires her a few times and we know he wants to kiss her lips and we know that he wants to sleep with her but wont because shes not like his past affairs but I never got the loving feeling from him.. It was way too sudden and way too complete for this short of a story. Overall I really liked all the characters and this was a nice read and Im glad I read it but Im also glad it was free. the ending just sort of fizzled (Think grade school science project where you build the volcano and use baking soda and vinegar (well I think thats what you use..) and your expecting this big fizz but it only bubbled) Also this is leaning towards a 3.5 rating for m

I just finished reading INSTRUCTIONS FOR LOVE by June Shaw on my Kindle.

Not Shaw's best, this one is a teasing love story that coaxes the reader along, slowly. As a writer, I smiled at the two noticeable errors: when the character Trevor becomes Travis, and the lone glitch when Erin, the protagonist is referred to as Laci. Back when authors wrote with goose quill pens on paper, things like that may not have happened, but we who write today are familiar with the easy error and share the blame with our critique friends and editors.

This story is easy reading, the plot clear, the characters identifiable in spite of their names.

My ratings differ from some. I rarely rate a book a "5" unless it is exquisite. A "4" is exceptional, a "3" is enjoyable, a "2" is all right, a "1" is only fair. Books I do not like, I do not read beyond the third chapter and do not review. If I cannot say something nice, I don't comment.

This one gets three stars.

2.5 stars. Started out well but the plot went awful. Laci was a terrible character and Dane is just a flop. The romance was horrifying, with hardly any realistic character development. People of Louisiana would probably find this riveting, but as a reader of a different country and culture, I just couldn't picture the scenery described. The ending was nothing amazing and just not worth your time.

This was a sweet story of miss-communication and half truths trying to save people feelings. But I think the main characters were to stubborn at first, with out the miss-communication there wouldn't have been a reason to fall in love. As stubborn as they were they sure fell in love fast at the end.

Pretty cheesey and they made Erin seem pretty flighty. I had a hard time with all the typos, even as far as referring to some of the main characters by the wrong names! Nonetheless, I still finished it, glad I got it for free.
