I appreciate the specificity of the contents. Too often, these types of books contain much education theory and philosophy but lack the concreteness of how to implement these theories and philosophies into a physical classroom. Roessing walks us through her process of implementing a reader-response curriculum around whole class, book club, & independent readings and provides reproducible handouts and student examples. While some of the student responses were on the low side of middle school level, I walked away with many strategies that I can adapt to my secondary classroom.
