Amber Higgins is an American author who spent over thirty years working with dogs as a breeder, all-breed professional groomer, certified search dog trainer and pet business owner.

She has a degree in Media Communications, writing and was first published in magazines and newspapers in the 1990's.

The Family Disaster Dogs website has 300 pages of dog advice and daily visitors.

Start Mantrailing Train a Dog to Find People book featuring dogs and handlers from the USA and UK is her best selling book as of 2025.

From 1997-2009 Amber volunteered with her "Wrinkledpups" Bloodhounds and German Shepherds with county emergency response teams aiding in the search for lost and missing persons. Amber's puppies went to several U.S. states, Canada and So America to help find missing people.

She created the Dog Bug-out bag concept where your family dog help carry emergency supplies during evacuation and has put together over 60 easy lessons to teach your dog to come to your aid during an emergency.

The Family Disaster Dogs books show dog owners how to ask any dog to find family members and friends who are lost or missing.

Learn how your dog can be a messenger dog. If you are trapped, your dog can find you, dig you out or bring you first aid until rescuers arrive ! Send your dog for help or to your partner or child on command.

This book will forever be a part of my heart, soul, and being! Growing up hearing this story as a child to reading it today and glowing, cherishing childhood memories, and being able to disappear into the story and sit under the old oak tree. ❤️🌳
