Rate this book
We live in a world filled with sexual imagery and seduction. These influences seek to assault us at every turn. The enemy has created this battlefield in order to corrupt our minds. But whether you're married or single, young or old, man or woman, this book will unlock the keys to how you can have "a mind set free" from the temptation that surrounds us every day. Jimmy Evans exposes such things as "The Secret of Satan's Success." He'll teach you about "The Promise and Process of Biblical Meditation" and discuss "The Four Pillars of Moral Integrity." As you employ the truths from this 115-page mini-book, you'll be equipped to fight and win as you "Enter the Battlefield". PRAISE FOR A MIND SET IN A DAY OF EXTREME EMPHASIS ON SEXUALITY AND SENSITIVITY, I rejoice when the concern of a gifted minister brings to the forefront the importance of purity. Jimmy Evans has approached this issue with compassion and a sincere desire to help set at liberty those who have been entangled in the web of distraction and deceit. I thank God for every attempt to help set captives free from all areas of bondage - but especially the bondage of sex, which has widespread negative effects. My earnest prayer is that God will bless the insights and help given in this book. JAMES ROBISON, President, LIFE Outreach International Fort Worth, Texas

"The truth of the matter is, until our minds are set free, we're not free. Until the transforming power of the blood of Jesus and the water of His word flow upon our minds, we are in bondage." (Jimmy Evans, A Mind Set Free)

This is one of the best books I have read on Biblical meditation. The author explains that biblical meditation is to take a Bible verse, text, chapter, or story and put it in your mind. He talks about taking a portion of Scripture and mentally rehearsing it until it causes you to consider God and the things of God. He says the word mediate is used in the Bible to mean two basic things: 1. "to consider or ponder", and 2. "to speak or murmur to oneself". He explains that this is like cow or sheep that chews it cud and "ruminates." He says, "Rumination is the process of chewing, swallowing, and then regurgitating to chew again.
A sheep has multiple stomachs. The process of rumination causes the grass the sheep is eating to be refined over and over until passes into the final stomach and is digested in a pure form.
Likewise, biblical meditation means to take a Bible verse, text, chapter, or story and put it in your mind.
"

This book targets biblical meditation as it relates to sexual temptation. The author shares with his readers that as a young boy, he was exposed to pornography and this became a stronghold for him growing up. He shares that he obtained victory over sexual temptation through the process of biblical meditation. He addresses both men and woman in this book as it relates to sexual temptation. He relates how men are more visual, while women are more emotional. One quote from this book that addresses this phenomenon:

"Even through men are the largest group dealing with sexual temptation and bondage, woman are certainly not immune. Just as pornography is a multi-billion dollar industry oriented toward men, there are billions of dollars spent to attract women as well.
Unlike men, woman aren't as visual when it comes to sex. Even through woman are certainly not blind to physical attractiveness, their sexual arousal is mainly connected to their emotions. Therefore, soap operas, romance novels, movies, television programs, and magazine articles court women's sexual interests on a daily basis.
Even through these may be less graphic than male-oriented pornography, they are no less dangerous.
The sexual fantasies and lies being showered upon woman today create deep deceptions and unrealistic expectations that can never be met in real life - just like pornography creates in men."

And exactly how can men and women be set free from these sexual mental strongholds...the answer...biblical meditation...and the process is explained in this book!

One of the most practical explanations of biblical meditation I've ever read. It removes the mystery of just what meditating is and demonstrates ways we can implement into our everyday lives. Highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book. It went into detail about what a quiet time looks like and how/why we are called to meditate on a verse or story to gain God's perspective on a situation for our lives.
