Dozens of full-color reproductions celebrate the unique artistry and vision of one of America's most popular landscape painters, Thomas Kinkade, an artist know for his light-filled rural and urban vistas. 100,000 first printing. Lit Guild & Doubleday Alt.
Thomas Kinkade was known as the "Painter of Light." His works, although spurned by the secular art establishment, were very popular with Christians and many others.
I was always a big fan of his paintings because they were so peaceful & serene. They drew you in no matter the subject. Such a shame his personal life in later years was far from that and he died of a mix of drugs and alcohol.
I still need to actually read this, but I add it to my list because it's one of my favorite books to look through. The art work is just gorgeous. Looking at these paintings on a Sunday afternoon as the late afternoon Autumn light pours over me. Perfect.
I was not sure if I would like his work but I really did. It makes me feel calm and relaxed. It creates images of an ideal house next to a river, with a garden filled with flowers. A great experience :)
The paintings of Thomas Kinkade are so peaceful. They remind me of what I think Heaven will look like. They remind me of the song - For the Beauty of the Earth. They make me wish I was a better landscaper so the land that we own around our house would look more like his paintings - maybe someday. Looking at them reminds me of the Love that God has for all of us and inspires me to want to create spaces of peace in my world as well.
This is my favorite artist, and I was devastated when he passed. I am very grateful he painted these pictures for the world to enjoy and treasure. I feel there really are no words in any language, that can comprehend the magnificent beauty of his artwork.
I really enjoyed the biography components of the book, shedding light to the artist's character just like his works shed light on the quintessential cottage. A very interesting read, and obviously the art work is exceptional! My favorite artist.
