Sisterhood of the Stones #3

Onyx Interruptions

Rate this book
Time stops for no man, but with a little luck and a little onyx, it’ll stop for a woman.

Dr. Ember Thorn doesn’t have time to drop everything to take a worthless piece of onyx back to some random Caribbean island because her mother broke a hip and can’t do it herself. It can wait.

So, it waits. And waits. It waits until Ember’s life goes a bit wonky. She loses her boyfriend, her job, and her house ends up full of raw sewage.

Well, okay, then. No reason not to go reset in the Caribbean. She hops the next plane out and ends up seated beside the man who made sure she lost her job.

He had some justification. Ember was the one who sent his very much alive father to the morgue. Don’t freak out. It’s not like it was intentional, and the man didn’t even end up being refrigerated. It was a simple mistake and nobody was injured. Not physically… the not-dead guy may need some therapy.

On island time, things aren’t looking up. The airline lost her luggage, then when she gets to the island, she’s thrown from the boat by an over-zealous driver—and her pig.

Just as she’s about to drink herself into oblivion, she spots Delilah Bradbury, actress, icon, and movie director. Ember strikes up a conversation—she’s Delilah’s biggest fan, Oh Em Gee!—and her luck finally changes. By some island miracle, Ember ends up with the lead role in the upcoming movie about a pirate, a witch, and a trio of magical jewels.

It’s not that easy. Things are never that easy. Nothing is what it seems on Pararey Island. Thanks to Renegade Remington and the love of his life, Ariyah, who are dying—not literally, they’re already dead—to tell their story, maybe true love will prevail for all of them.

Ember and Will are both logical down-to-Earth people who really don’t have a lot of patience for mystical woo-woo magical nonsense. But they’re about to learn that sometimes magic happens no matter whether you believe in it or not. Oh my gosh! That was the most amazing ending to the series. It was not at all what I was expecting and took several sharp turns into places I hadn’t even thought of. It was the perfect way to wrap up the legend of the pirate and the witch, but I’m going to miss this collection of quirky characters now that it’s over.

Oh wow!!

This was a FANTASTIC way to end this super cute series about the sisterhood of the stones. The third stone is still out there! Ember is tasked by her mother after she breaks her hip to take a necklace to Pararey Island since she says it's cursed, giving bad luck, but Ember refuses to do it. Then she gets hit by a LOT of bad luck… She’s a doctor, and she accidentally sends a live body to the morgue causing her to be put on a leave of absence, her apartment gets destroyed by the apartment above causing her to move back in with her mother, and more. She finally decides to just do it and ends up sitting right next to the son of the man she sent to the morgue who is currently suing her. Will is on his way to the island, too, since he is a descendant of Captain Remington with an injunction to stop the filming of the movie. After issues with the cast of the film, Ember has the great idea to have Will play the captain so he can make sure the story is told right, and she ends up playing Ariya. After reading a spell gone wrong, she ends up with Ariya taking over her body, and Renegade ends up in Will.

There are a lot of fun things that happened in this book, but the ending was just wonderful. I really enjoyed reading these books!

Wow. Our heroine seems to have a lot of bad luck and that takes some doing. Will things finally turn around on the island, or is she just finding a new place to have a meltdown?

This is book three of the series, but it is written as a standalone. No prior reading is needed.

This is a cozy mystery with a nice dose of magic. The story is well written and easy to read with a intriguing and fun cast. The setting provides the perfect setup for our story. Our heroine is wonderful, even as she turns from one disaster to the next. The story itself moves at a good pace and includes plenty of action, intrigue and lots of humor to keep things fun. Overall, I really enjoyed the story and look forward to more in the series.

Highly recommended.

The Onyx stone is the third of the three magic stones created by Ariya Thornbridge to call Renfro Remington back to her. Previous books traced the Citrine and Sapphire stones; now the three are coming together to reunite Ariya and Renfro either in death, or else eternal life in other people’s bodies. It’s up to the descendants of Ariya and Renfro and the possessors of the stones to break the curse, or else suffer from it for the rest of their lives. There are many steamy scenes where the libidinous Ariya and Renfro renew their passionate love affair using their hosts' bodies. There is a lot of humor, funny situations, and interesting consequences of ill-advised actions. After a few unexpected twists, everyone gets a HEA ending.

Who is Ember? Where is she from and what is happening in her life? What conversation do we find in her and with whom? Oh my gosh, the things that happen to Ember in just the first three chapters had me laughing and shaking my head. Will, Ember's mom, her job, her flight, and the boat ride once again had me laughing so hard! What happens when Ember eavesdrops on Delilah's conversation made things very interesting. Who is Will and what do we learn from him? What task does Ember volunteer for while on the island? Oh my, when Ember gets into her own room and she drops her purse, something very interesting happens. That was a trip! This book had some very interesting things that happened! Read and see what they were. Enjoy the last of this trilogy. I did.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. It was a romantic ending to the series despite the upsets that stalled things. Ember is tasked by her mother to return the onyx stone to the sea but only in a special way. Due to Ember's delays, there is several bad situations that seem like a curse happening. Cami and Delilah are already on the island with their stones. A movie, being hijacked by a ghost, stolen memories and magic are only parts that have to be dealt with. However Will is the best after the lawsuit is dropped. After much trouble, everything works out happily for all three living couples and the ghostly couple as well.

This is the third book in the series and you do need to read book 1 and 2 before reading Onyx Interruptions.

I will not give any spoilers suffice to say it has a happy ending and all mysteries are solved.

I know now that the series is finished, it will be one of those series that you wonder what happens next to the 3 women at the heart of the stories and their men.

As always with this collective authors', there is so much warmth to the writing and humour is effective, and has you chuckling.

A lovely ending to this three book fantasy series.
Each book has its own set of main characters and this time we get story of third stone along with Ember and Will. They do not disappoint and love that characters from previous two books join forces for the final resolution to the mystery of the stones.
Enjoyable books with good characters, steamy romance, fun and laughter, magic and mystery and overall great cozy HEA fantasy books.
Really enjoyed all three books and lovely ending to the story.

Dr. Ember Thorn does not believe in magic or witches even though she grew p with a mother who believed. So when she was asked to return the family jewel to her ancestors island to stop the "curse" she said no. But after some hilarious problems and situations off she goes and finds even more trouble. Made me laugh, groan, and shake my head. But it was entertaining especially as the other characters from the first 2 books are also on the island. Enjoyed the story.

This is the final installment of the series, so it should not be read as a standalone. This is a fun addition to the previous books, Ember is very much a cartesian doctor and has never believed her mum's tales of witches and magic, until she finds herself in the middle of it. Nice atmosphere on a small tropical island. Quirky and funny, I loved the sisterhood coming into being with Delilah, Camille and Ember.

Onyx Interruptions is book three in the Sisterhood of the Stones series and it's the story of the third cursed stone. There's a lot of bad luck going on in this book but it all made it that much more entertaining. This is a captivating story with great characters, drama, humor, magic, unexpected twists, some steam, and so much more. I recommend this book, this series, and this author trio to 0everyone who loves reading great books. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Off with the Faeries...
Read the first two books first, because otherwise this makes no sense at all.
It barely makes sense as it is, at least the beginning.
I think that the Authoresses wrote one book each, and the last one got stuck fixing the end.
Enchantment or maybe Geas are better words to describe what happens.
Think 'Midsummer Night's Dream'.

What a crazy and exciting way to finish this trilogy! I loved that each book told the story from 3 different viewpoints as well as involving one of the three stones! I loved that Ariya came to her senses and moved on. I really loved reading this book!
