Determined to win the one she thinks is for her, Paige finds herself making one foolish decision after another. These decisions become detrimental to her and the life she’s worked so hard to maintain. Will she be able to pull herself out of Kyra’s web, or become too entangled and unable to break free?
Paige is a self-proclaimed “lone wolf,” content with being single after a string of bad relationships. With a blooming writing career, great friends, and her perfect home, she thinks she has it all. That is, until her one major crush, a local musician named Kyra, starts showing interest in her romantically. Thinking that she’s finally found “the one,” Paige ignores the constant red flags on her way toward gaining Kyra’s love.
Skyy is a 30-year-old writer from Memphis, TN. Her first novel, Choices, was released in 2007, and quickly gained popularity both within the gay and lesbian community and the urban fiction community. The highly anticipated sequel, Consequences, was released in 2009 with high praise, and rocketed to the top-10 best-seller lists on Amazon.com as well as at independent bookstores across the country.
Touted as the next E. Lynn Harris, Skyy blurs the lines between lesbian and straight communities in her fiction by speaking with intimate familiarity about the striking commonalities of loving and living as African American women in urban America. The books resonate with truismsamong women of all ages and gender identities.
Right now Skyy is working hard to bring her books to the screen.
In Skyy’s spare time. she enjoys traveling and spending time at home. When she is not on the road with her books, she is a club promoter.
3.75 stars. I hesitate to say I "enjoyed" this book, because I spent most of my reading being completely frustrated with Paige and, most especially, raggedy-ass stud Kyra. Dumb is exactly as its title denotes; Paige ignores the red flags in a new relationship as Kyra continues to manipulate her feelings, leading Paige to do the most for someone who doesn't deserve it.
Skyy shows she still has the skills to pay the bills, but I do miss her old characters - Denise, Lena, Cooley, Carmen....
I have very complex feelings about this book. I was at first very excited for Skyy's return as an author but a read the first few pages I felt disconnected from the characters. However as chapters passed I found myself thrown into Paige world. I felt like I was feeling her pain and growth with her
The way this book and my anxiety were at odds! Like.. Paige really had me over here hot and annoyed! Yet even as the story unfolds it's very true, we've all been there before at some point in time. I just wish she would've taken the tools from therapy and stood strong. We only see the tip of the iceberg of what happens when you openly ignore red flags. Despite my anxiety I loved how this book shared a story and characters that seemed very relatable. I would have loved to have a part two.
This book, is the story of so many women, it hit every nail on the head, I can't say that I'm surprised, your books are always on Point! I hope there is a part 2, but I want Paige to be the gentle beast, and not be taken advantage of, THANKS FOR ANOTHER ONE SKYY!!!!
It would have been a 4 if the ending didn’t piss me off. The cycle of stupid just continues. I loved that Paige was nerdy and bisexual. I just wished she had truely turned a page at the end. And if the prologue came full circle at the end with her back at the book release. Also fuck Kyra and every stud like her

I waited a long time and was not disappointed. Everyone has been through toxic relationships and this is as TOXIC as you can get. Its always good to have great friends around though to help you through. Please keep righting skyy. I love your work.
Skyy never disappoints. Paige was super dumb and wanted to love and be loved. Kyra was an unkempt narcissist and she was trash. Just as you thought she wouldn’t get any worse she took it to a new level.
This is the book I never thought I knew right now at this point of my life
I'm on chapter 27, and I HAD to write this review. If you want to get furious, read this book. It was a great read but baby, DUMB just ain't the word. This girl was a super Dummy. I felt my blood pressure rising.
