Cryptid 2

Rate this book
From before the dawn of time we have feared them - something long faded into myth and legend – creatures so terrifying our race memory retains the dread they brought with them in the darkness of the night.

Kimberly Eastman. A woman so traumatized by a horrific past she has become a recluse.
Mark Walker. A man terrified by his own supernatural present. Two strangers that must combine their talents to solve a mystery that spans centuries.

Their international pursuit of an unimaginable truth will lead them on a dangerous quest - from Los Angeles - to the stormy windswept wilds of northern Britain – then deep into the dark underbelly of Berlin – while relentlessly pursued by an ancient nightmare that cannot possibly exist.

As the gruesome body count mounts and old friends are reunited, Eastman and Walker discover that no one is who they appear to be – and the price for the forbidden knowledge they seek could mean their very lives.

Or perhaps ultimately something far, far worse.

Bigfoot Story

So this story proves that humans are their own worst enemy... The danger starts and what does this team do? They start arguing with each other over stuff. And when you are in that kind of situation doing that is just stupid. I have seen hundreds of these kind of creature movies over the years - ranging from giant snakes, spiders, etc - and I always hated it when the human characters started to fight with each other. I thought it ruined the story. I want humans versus the creatures! So be aware that is in here. There are lots of creatures though.

Now my biggest issue with the book is how long it takes for the action in here to start. There are two stories going on at the same time. One is a back story about a previous group who went into the area and vanished. The second is about a reality show that goes there to the same area hoping they can get these Bigfoot like creatures on film. Where the second story really drags. It takes them about three-fourths of the book just to get there! If it weren't for the stuff at the beginning about the missing group the book would have been even worse. So the story really drags at times. Lots of talking and planning and not much going on. Could have cut that out or stuck it in a few paragraphs.

Oddly enough my favorite part of the book was when the woman was in the cave? Unsure why.

I don't think the cover image matches the book. That looks like the jaws of a crocodile to me?? Yet its a Bigfoot story.

A solid “Bigfoot” story. Interested in the sequels, but not sure how much so if they are all the same cryptid. Need to check that out.

Hard for me to keep reading.

I hard to really push myself to keep reading this book. Over half of it was preparing for the journey and the characters fighting and complaining. I like my books to be all action in monster books. So the problem may just be with me, but I probably won't buy another of this author's books. By the time the action started, I was just trying to get through with the book.

Hmmm. I'm not even sure what to say about this story. It is a little slow moving and jumps back and forth through two decades which everyone knows I intensely dislike. It isn't like the big reveal was any sort of a secret or shock.

Still, the monsters were interesting and well described. The only character I cared about was Olivia - partly because she was so fragile and scarred.

Decent read.

this book is an little confusing at best . starts off in the first half like a cheap sex novel then comes the camping trip and then the blood, and gore monster parts start then till the end with plot twists and surprises plows on to the end with no real solution just (spoiler most everybody, dead people and monsters) quick read however

awesome read

The author hit a home run with this take on Bigfoot. The giant bipedal creatures aren’t the shy, nice missing link that we think they are-they are cruel, intelligent and have a taste for humans and they have decided that the members of the cryptid quest tv show expedition are going to be their next buffet.

Pretty good

I was sure this would be a 2 or 3 star story. I had already figured out who Olivia was. But I liked how Ian had 2 separate stories going on at the same time from decades apart. It was a short exciting read.

Pretty good book. A television crew tried to find evidence of A group of college students who disappeared without a trace over 20 years earlier. Bigfoots are waiting for them.

I thought the book was good except for the parts telling about the one character and his jaded sex life, was all that really necessary to the book? No it wasn't and it was a disappointment, at least there wasn't a bunch of detail to her rape by the beast.

enjoyed this read

I actually enjoyed this story and the character development. Had all the makings of a decent horror story. Likable characters, characters you hate.

good start

Started this series hoping to enjoy and didn't disappoint. Has heroes, villains, and blood fodder. Enjoyable read and moving to next.
