In a pleasant spot on the border between West and Midwestern United States, everyday lives are playing out in homes, in businesses, and on a college campus. A family is threatened by illness and old secrets; a couple is at peace, with only occasional, faint rumblings from one of those same secrets; people on the threshold of adulthood grapple with grand ideas, hopes of making the world a better place, and annoying roommates--and in some cases, the same buried secrets. Then the pandemic turns the whole world inside out. Just one death flips back a corner on the biggest secret’s burial shroud, and it begins to rise above the surface. In a time when people are isolating from each other, the secret draws strangers close together with a mixture of absurdity, heartbreak, and compassion for each other and themselves.
