Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
What to say? I have love the whole series. All the books have been so solid. I really do like longer books, a lot of what I read is a snack, this is a full 9 course meal with wine and all the added little touches. I have been reading Martha's and Mikes books almost since the beginning. They were like fast, yummy hors d'oeuvres. A wonderful snack. (I read a s**t ton of books) a year. Snacks are good a meal is in my opinion better. Looking at this I must be hungry. 😀
Great book, great series. Read it, its just that great! Finished ✌
The Drow Hath Sent Thee is the fifth book in Goth Drow series by Martha Carr and Michael Anderle.
Both Cheyenne and Ember were unbelievably annoying to put up with in this book. Ember because she spent the entire time going through aggravating mood swings. Either nagging continuously, or having an outstanding amount of attitude for no redeemable reason. And everyone keeps saying she’s coming into her own, and finally finding her place, but I was fed up with it about two seconds into the first time it happened. Then there’s Cheyenne with her frustrating persistence for denial and ignoring the only path that’s good for her or turning down kinda sorta job offers that bleed into the type of relationship she was hoping to build in her capacity as the The Crown on the Earthside.
To top it all of we spend the last approximately 15% of the book having everyone tell Cheyenne what she must do, leading up to the final big save, but of course it’s put off for the next book in the series. Gotta squeeze one more book out, am I right?
I’m starting to feel bad for L’zar. Everyone just assumes there’s nothing more than what they can see surface deep. But I’m catching some mad “I’m hiding my pain and all other emotions” type of vibes from him. I spent pretty much the entire book wanting to smack Cheyenne (thanks for doing that for me Ember) for one reason after another, but this one really started to lead ahead of all the others. It feels like the authors wanted to force this point across too heavily, while Cheyenne’s persona is leaning towards reevaluating any misconceptions she might have about her father.
And I’m kind of pissed that there were at first some major vibes between her R’leer. But all within the second encounter things start to twist and become unnecessarily confusing on the relevance of any true potential between this (maybe?) infatuated Drow...
I enjoyed the adventure. I didn't like that they never did anything to help the vessel with her pain. Also some other things felt like after thoughts and were not really explained right. Like the b light around the vessels neck. Like when did he put it there and why didn't anyone notice it before hand. Also I don't understand why Cheyenne keeps taking what she has been shown or given and totally blows it off and acts like she has no idea what's going on. Just bothers me that for a genius she is being made to seem dumb instead of gifted like she is supposed to be. Overall I like the adventure. Loved the tricked out goth mobile even if we barely got go enjoy it. The campus being out of it was kind of stupid but funny at the same time. Just had some good thoughts that were thrown in for kicks that really didn't need to be in the story. On to next adventure save the trees I guess.
I'm already ticked off reading the beginning. What makes me mad is the nonchalance of her medical evaluation and the importance of knowing what is going on with the ruler disappearing and why. She is a threat. That she may have been shoot with poison in final combat that was specifically made for her and is poo pooed as a serious problem. That is maybe my issue. That real problem, common sense realizes should be paid attention to are. Fluff fluff joked made non important, not pursued as a line of reasoning. Do not forget your readers are smart. It reads wrong when you think you can get away with cheap defection tactics. When you do not do the obvious. I don't k ow if this is a Carr or Michael short cut tactic. I mean towards Michael who I always blame. Great books but often frustrating. Do not sell your readers short
So here I am originally thinking there was 12 books in the series got through the 12th was depressed I couldn't find a 13th then I find out there's these mega books that pick up where those left off could not have been happier while many might be concerned over a 600 page book I was not and because it was longer than I was used to I didn't finish it in a single day it took me two and a half days but it was worth it the storyline is so fun if you're just starting here start with book number one for certain the best part is you come to enjoy the characters even the ones that frustrate you with their antics and it's nice to continue to read about them in their story lines I'm off to the next large book can't wait to get into it
Cheyenne is a Goth college chic with a predestined future that will change her life. Growing up with her famous single mother not knowing who her father is or how she came to be. Super advanced in tech but is working on her masters and college. She has a bbf Amber (aka a Fa e with not powers or is that another story hmm). The 1st book starts the story of Cheyenne's journey of accepts of herself and what she is meant to do to save everyone. Good Series-sold characters ..sold storyline..i do wish there was a lil more love connects made but all in all it was a Good Sunday afternoon read. Mrs. C.💋
So worth the wait for Cheyenne and her band of merry rebels. The plot and characters in this series are the absolute best, and they keep the reader balanced on the edge of their seats from the very first word through the last. Its going to slowly kill me having to wait almost a month for the ending(?) book in this incredible saga. Please, if you are even just playing with the idea of reading these books, do yourself the MASSIVE favor of picking them up and diving in. You won't regret it a bit!
The Spider is gone, there’s a new Crown, and everyone is celebrating! But there’s no rest for the Goth Drow. We see Cheyenne travelling between worlds to address the residual issues, and puzzling out more esoteric prophecies.
It’s been interesting watching Cheyenne’s development, and that of the other characters as they do battle and make alliances. I’m looking forward to the next book.
I can't express how much these long books mean to me. When a normal 300, or less, page book is finished in an afternoon, these long books are a wonderful change and allow some exploration with the character. Speaking of which, I was basically shaking my head at Cheyenne this entire book. I get her preconceived notions of everything are challenged throughout the book, but still, what the heck?
A Drow queen who doesn’t want to be, a snarky adolescent human who doesn’t want responsibility, and a fighter for decency and all are the same person. First she has to dump the kingdom on someone else and then reassume the quiet life of a student. Fat chance. A surprise appearance of Michael Todd makes the world a little stranger. A good read.
This is a really fun series and I am really enjoying the characters and world building. I am happy and sad that the next book is the last in this series. Happy due to looking forward to an amazing finish and sad that the story will end. In any case read this book as it is amazing and I recommend it.
How many times can I write awesome book!!!!! Seriously, I really hate writing reviews for books I LOVE because they all sound the same. So, here we go....great book, interesting characters, lots of action, loved it all!!!!! If you're reading this and not the book, you got it backwards...
Cheyenne is in for the ride of her life. It's great fun as L'zar is put in his place and Bianca is forced to face the magic she has tried to avoid since Cheyenne was born. Secrets are revealed that are both surprising and not at the same time. On to book six and I highly suggest you read this one so you can do the same.
Suffering more pain than any entity should both cheyanne and her mum walk the road to heal the trees and preserve the future of the drow. I both hate the thought of the series reaching its culmination and want the next book NOW!
Dec 16th??? Are you freaking KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW??? I can't wait that long I'm an old man!!! Book Book book book book book 📖!!!!!!!!! SO FREAKING AWESOME!!!! Howard S (the S stands for super fan)
This book only slows down for a few pages. Otherwise it pulls you along at full speed. Loads of action, too many near death experiences, and unexpected twists abound.
As the snarky Goth Drow puzzles her way through tech and magic, struggling to defy destiny alongside her friends of many races, she comes to terms with what she has to do in her inimitable kick-ass style!
Another fantastic series of battles and intrigue to hold your interest from first page to the last! The surprises never seem to stop. This is a well built interesting series that is a must read.
I would enjoy this series more if the books weren't so dann long. As I read them, it seems to me that portions of them are filler fluff that slows the entire thing down
After reading the first 4 books in the series I was looking forward to this one. I was disappointed. This book drags and really goes no where. Just seems like a lot of filler just to write another book.
Another excellent novel. It's coming full circle. The human world in essence is well on its way as long as the magical world can be saved. These books are awesome!
I was disappointed that it endd! These stories are are so well done that you hate reaching the end. No sense in relating the plot. Just read and enjoy.
