Playing with Fire (Blackmore Inc., #2) by Rebecca Hunter

She needs him. He wants her. Will their past history be the undoing of a second chance?Hunter makes sure readers feel the burn with Playing with Fire. The intensity of Marianna and Simon is suffocating. Danger surrounds them, attraction fuels them, lusts drives them, but forever may prove just out of reach.

Beautiful second-chance romance!

Fighting against the weight of their history, Simon and Marianne also have to get to the bottom of the suspicious activity at the company Marianne's father left her. Driven apart eleven years ago by their fathers, they are still nursing broken hearts and stepping carefully around their trust issues.

Simon is the bodyguard that Marianne needs now, and with the backing of the Blackmore team they take on her ex-husband and anyone he's working with. Light on the action and suspense, this story mostly revolves around the conflicting feelings as Simon and Mari figure out just how much their intense chemistry can develop into a more satisfying relationship.

This story was amazing and powerful in its display of the emotional turmoil both characters felt. This is a romance that draws the reader in right from the start and doesn't let go until the ring is on her finger. Absolutely beautiful, I loved every bit. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

~A forever first love~

Eleven years has gone by before Simon sets eyes on the one woman he can never seem to forget, in the middle of a situation he could not just stand by and watch. He had returned to his home in Miami, but fate placed him face to face with Marianna. Even while his past was flooding back to taunt him, she clearly needed his help. But when Marianna follows him back to Australia and wants to hire him as her personal bodyguard, Simon knows he cannot say no to her. The question is, how is going to keep himself in control in order to perform his job professionally, working to get answers to Marianna’s questions about her father’s business?

This was a hot story, with intense moments between two star-crossed lovers given a second chance together. Enthralling with its suspense elements. I am looking forward to reading the other stories of this series, now that I got a glimpse of the other men at Blackmore, Inc!

I loved this second chance romance, it has so much going on: the heat, the intrigue, the inescapable love, the mess of the past...

And the thrill of having someone as hot as Simon secretly in love with Mari after all these years, now protecting her and doing everything they can to keep in control of their wits while at the same time losing their mind on their need/love for her is intense.

It makes for a really sexy ride with a side-ordering of action that has you gripped from the very beginning.

Playing With Fire by Rebecca Hunter is the second book in the Blackmore Inc series. This is the first book in the series that I have read. It can be read as a standalone no problem. I loved this second chance romance by Hunter. Mari and Simon are on FIRE. These two will burn the pages as you are reading them. I loved the mixture of erotic and suspense that I found myself reading between these pages. Get your hands on your copy today.

Marianna loved Simon with all the intensity of her young 18-year-old heart, but it wasn't enough to withstand her father's manipulations. Now years later, Simon is back outside her home. He's trying to let her go, truly, knowing she isn't his. But when he sees her ex manhandling her, Simon's protective instincts draw to the surface. Now they're back in each other's lives. Will they get a second chance now that they're both adults and the source of their breakup is no longer present? Can she let him back into her heart?

I love a good second chance romance, especially one with some intrigue and suspense, and Playing with Fire delivers on all those things. Simon and Marianna are hot together and their connection only strengthens as the suspense and intrigue ramps up. I'm looking forward to more from this author after having read this one!

I love second chance romances and this was a wonderful one. Loved Marianna & Simon. They fell in love as teenagers but their fathers didn't approve (to put it mildly!). Mari was rich and Simon wasn't. Fast forward 11 years and they meet again. Both fathers are dead but that doesn't mean that everything is easy. Mari is newly divorced with an abusive ex that co-owns her father's company with her. Mari isn't convinced that everything is on the up and up so she starts investigating on her own. She needs help so enter Simon. Can they work together? Can they start over with their relationship? Read on for a really steamy read!

First review of 2019, and it's with a solid offering from the Dare imprint.

Solid is good.  Solid hits all its marks.  Solid delivers a decent contemporary romance.

As with the first in the series, this isn't a story chock full of surprises, but it is another character driven story.  The back and forth between these two is fun to read, and their chemistry is palpable.  Overall, a decent follow up to its predecessor.

I just love a good second chance romance and Marianna and Simon's book did not disappoint it was well written and these two were just great together. They were head over heels for each other when she was eighteen until her dad drove them apart now ten years have passed and Simon is back and the first thing he does is save her from her ex-husband. This is a good book and I would recommend it.

Can she allow herself to play with this fire again after all she went through with was just teenage love? No matter how hard he try’s with those gorgeous green eyes and sexy hard body she must stay strong but she does need one thing from him. His security company and protection.

Reunion romance with a twist. There is plenty of internal tension in this book, as well as an over-arching mystery plot. It packs a lot into a category length book.

Playing with Fire is the first Rebecca Hunter book I read and it won't be my last! This book ticked all my boxes - second chance romance - check! A balance between steam and relationship development - check! Let's just say that I am one happy reader!

As you know, I am such a fan of second chance romance and class disparity romance! The hero, Simon, is a second generation Cuban who worked in his father's construction business and the heroine, Marianna is the spoiled daughter of a rich Cuban business. The book focusses on Marianna and Simon a decade later and the tables have sort-of turned.

What I really love about Playing with Fire is that there is undeniable chemistry between Simon and Marianna from the moment both appeared on the page. Naturally, this happens because of revenge and basically unrequited love - I absolutely love it!

I am also a fan of flashbacks and I love how it is used in Playing with Fire. This is where we see a glimpse of Simon and Marianna's relationship when they were teens and it was very heartwarming.

One of the main plots of the book revolves around Marianna's suspicions about her father's imports company. This brings her to Australia where she confronts her father's business partner and her ex-husband in a thrilling showdown.

Playing with Fire was a really quick read for me. In fact, I read the whole book in one sitting, I was hooked and engrossed and I could not put it down.
