Rate this book
A small-town Louisiana physician is poised to win confirmation as the next Surgeon General of the United States. But on the eve of his greatest professional achievement, Daniel Wyatt finds himself accused of gross infidelity...and the murder of his unborn child. In the midst of a media frenzy -- as a trial looms that will cast the nation's explosive pro-choice/anti-abortion debate into a blinding new light -- the accused stands to lose more than his reputation, his career, and his freedom. Because an issue that has dangerously polarized America has inspired the bloody wrath of a faceless killer. And Dr. Daniel Wyatt is suddenly more than front-page news -- he's a target.

Reminds me of early John Grisham…I can see this being made into a movie…I read the whole thing through without putting it down…whew!

I really enjoyed this story! Shapiro obviously knows his way around the courtroom, and this legal-thriller not only provides a gripping, page-turner of a story, but gives you pause for thought on the pro-choice/anti-abortion hot botton topic that fills our real-life courtrooms today. A truly engrossing tale...I couldn't put it down (and the twist in the end was fitting.)

Does the father have as much right to terminate a pregnancy as the mother? Interesting question I hadn't thought of. This book will have you questioning that and other things. Kept me up till the early morning hours to finish I couldn't put it down.

I was surprised at the ending....but it made some of the events that occurred seem contrived.

A simple, push tale. Fun, tense, and a definite for a late night or easy afternoon.
