Fritz Russell has disappeared into the portal, leaving a trail impossible to follow. This has caused a chain reaction that ripples across the time-space continuum. Undaunted, his friend Ashley searches for Fritz, determined to find him and reverse the disruption of time. Attempting to undo the changes Fritz has done, Ashley discovers a shocking connection between parallel universes and the portal. Disturbing the flow of time comes with a heavy price. But will it prevent him from bringing Fritz home? This is the large print edition of The Portal At The End Of The Storm, with a larger font / typeface for easier reading.
Michael R. Stern is the Amazon best selling author of "Reflections on a Generous Generation", and "Storm Portal."
His newest release, Shadow Storm, book 3 of the Quantum Touch series, tells the story of a history teacher, whose classroom door is a portal to the past and a tunnel through the present.
Michael is a history lover. His future writing, both non-fiction and fiction, will offer perspectives on the way the past threads to the present and future, and why our past provides the guidance to understand and plan for the world we inhabit together.
Michael grew up in Garden City, New York, is a graduate of Cornell University, and now lives outside Philadelphia with his family. After a long career in business, he has begun a writing adventure.
The Portal at the End of the Storm is the 6th and final book of the Quantum Touch series written by Michael R. Stern. What a thrilling conclusion to the story of Fritz Russell and his paper-clip time portal. A lot has transpired in the country since our esteemed history teacher first discovered the powerful energy in his high school. Between becoming a father, saving the world, and losing several friends, he's now found himself transported to a different/parallel universe and time period. Eight years have passed, and Fritz, using an assumed name, is hoping not to be discovered.
What a complex plot! Coming into this book, I theorized what might happen to Fritz, given how he had to leave things at the culmination of the previous book. Stern cleverly challenges readers to break down the walls between the two similar yet quite different worlds. A new president has been elected, and like reality in 2016, the country is divided on how to build its culture; Fritz is on the run now. In what we think is real time, best friend Ashley is feverishly trying to find Fritz and work with the president to use the portal to protect the country... and the drama keeps on unfolding.
Stern changes POV in this last book since Fritz is missing. As the usual focus of the story is missing, and because readers aren't aware of what happened to him after stepping back into the portal, we gain new perspective on characters and situations. Fan favorites like Emily, Linda, Jane, and others can share more about their lives while readers try to make sense of what Fritz has been through. What's he doing in this strange diner? Why are pseudo-MIB's following him around? Men-In-Black from a certain popular movie! A great way to pull the entire sci-fi drama together, and when the two worlds and time periods clash back together, we're left wondering if things will ever become normal again?
A dynamic series ripe with memorable characters and clever plots. Though not my normal read (sci-fi), I found myself drawn in because of the relatable characters who had real-life stories and personalities above and beyond the time travel. Stern includes a bunch of technical explanations but it's ingeniously tempered with trips into the past to meet historical figures. I found myself experiencing a little bit of most genres here, and they were all worth it. Great ending!
“The Portal At The End Of The Storm” is an exciting, detailed time travel book with several storylines, strong world-building and likable characters. The parallel universes with slight differences are a nice twist. As always, I especially enjoyed the history, “what ifs”, and discussions. The News vs Opinions discussion is particularly pertinent. “You repeated things others told you or have been taught to believe. You’ve bought the idea that news and opinions are the same. Learn how to distinguish facts from opinions.”
This book ties up all the storylines with a satisfying ending.
Michael Stern has done it again, making time travel so realistic you wonder if he has found his own portal. He keeps the reader totally intrigued with the characters and the process itself, with twists and obstacles and resolutions that leave the reader in awe. My only complaint is that this is the last book in this series, but it ends well enough to satisfy this reader. I look forward to the possibility of a new series because with each book in this series, he has grown into an author to be reckoned with.
I loved this series! And to think I almost skipped right over it! I have been reading them straight through and I have to say this is truly the best series I have read! Mr. Stern has compiled history into an exciting adventure. Please be sure to read these in order! Thank you for all of your hard work! Hope to see more!
Any time we read an author s work we invest a portion of our life in doing so.That time is time we never get back. This series is worth spending the time to read.
Each episode in this series was better than the one before as the author fine tuned his world building. This final book is the best and ends the series with a welcome change that sets it apart from the previous books. I especially liked the switching from the various characters instead of focusing on just one or two main characters. The inclusion of so many characters and their viewpoints and feelings in each universe added depth that is lacking in many books. The various characters were believable and stayed within their written personalities as they interacted with each other in each timeline. Time travel is difficult enough to keep coherent without adding multiple universes but the author pulled it off and was able to tie up all the loose ends, especially when introducing the 'same' character in different universes and how their lives and personalities changed with their life experiences. Even though the series ends with this book, the author left it with the possibility for another series with other characters who had minor roles in this offering. A solid five star effort.
Today I finished The Port at the End of the Storm, book 6 in the Quantum Touch series by author Michael R. Stern. I discovered this series as part of Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited program. After reading the first book I was hooked and read all six one after the other.
If you like science fiction, time travel,a universe of multiple dimensions, history, world affairs, suspenseful thrillers and political intrigue, the world of President Obama and President Trump, and friendship and the interconnectedness of everything in all dimensions of the universe you will enjoy this series. It starts with a high school history being struck by lightning which enables him to open a portal in the time-space continuum which allows him to instantly travel from his New Jersey classroom to the White House and from his classroom to Appomattox where he meets General Robert E. Lee. Fritz Russell, the teacher and his friend Ashley meet many historical figures and help bring out world peace while getting lost in other dimensions/timelines. Each book in the series pulled me in deeper and became more and more difficult to put down. I highly recommend Michael R. Sterns Quantum Touch series.
The portal changes people, it changed Fritz, and Ashley, leaving Fritz wandering through a parallel universe for thirteen years. Ashley found him. The question was could the two of them repair the anomalies of time they caused and return to their own universe. I won't answer the question for you. To learn the answer you must read the book. As is true in all the Quantum Touch books, six of them, this one is well written, explores the characters in exquisite detail, expands the previous stories to bring about a conclusion to some, and perhaps not for others. There is no doubt you will enjoy this book, just as you enjoyed the others in the series, if you have read them. You should you know, for the investment in time, and the investment of a little money in these stories returns much more value than that given. Another super job by a great writer.
Michael Stern is simply a gifted storyteller. This particular series begins quite benignly but eventually becomes tantalizingly complex as additional characters become more diverse and the stakes get higher. I loved the characters, good and bad, and became quite attached to several of them - to the point that I was sad to say goodbye when the story ended. But, no remorse. Rather it felt like the end of a wonderful vacation!
I didn’t care for the way you presented President Trump as a rube and self centered idiot. Your obvious liberal leanings took over for what most of us know not to be fact.
This series is science fiction, historical and romance all rolled into one. I have literally lost sleep for several nights because I was so engrossed that I couldn't put the book down. I hope to read more by this author.
