Without You: A Friends-to-Lovers Small Town Romance

Rate this book
Small town romance author Jennifer Van Wyk delivers a friends-to-lovers romance with emotional twists and turns and a touch of humor.

Without her, I was better off.
I knew it the second she walked away and realized how much happier I was.
Knew it the day I interrupted her wedding reception to show her what she was missing and locked eyes with someone I hadn’t seen in years.

Those eyes.
Her smile.
Everything about her turned something around inside me that had been quiet for years.

But I’m not the only one who noticed.
How do I, a grease monkey, compare to what a Nashville star has to offer?
Easy.
Because without her, none of what I’ve taken years to build matters.
Now I get to prove it to her.

Without You is a complete standalone small-town romance filled with friendship, love, and second chances.

I know I say this to the start of every single one of my reviews when it comes to Ms. Van Wyk but it’s true every time. Every single book just gets better and better and I love her characters more and more! Brody and Katie are no exception! I couldn’t put this story down! Small town feels, friends to lovers, and just so much love and emotion are what I look forward to and love most in books! This was the escape I needed this week and then some. I loved living in Brody and Katie’s world for the 3 days I read this book. And I loved getting to know Johnny and Chad too! I couldn’t have asked for a better read in 2020!

Gah this is why JVY is my unicorn author. She always write functional love story with hot chemistry and a whole lot of heart.

Brody is a small town mechanic who owns 'Redding Garage' and has been through a lot. Now that he's successful and decided to celebrate it with interrupt his ex-girlfriend wedding reception to rub her nose in it —especially because she dumped him for being a blue collar man. But what he got was something beyond than what he expects: beautiful Katie, an old friend of him who's happened to be the bridesmaids of his ex-girlfriend.

Katie and Brody knew each other in high school, and she always had the biggest crush on him. Now, she's back in the town living with her parents and trying to get situated again. The attraction between her and Brody is more intense than ever, and they can't ignore the feelings anymore.

"I want to explore the attraction between us, of course I do, but don't think for a second that's all I want."

Brody is an absolute perfect mix of sexy alpha and complete sweetheart, and he’s beautifully swoony. And Katie is a great heroine —real and relatable. I love these two together, and I loved watching them find their way to each other. It's sweet and natural, and it feels so real! Of course, they had lots of thing coming in their way but the trust they have on each other didn't make them fall apart and they actually *gasp* communicate! I just loved how honest and easy their relationship was, the attention to detail, and I loved that we experienced it all with them.

We're all in. We're falling fast and hard and there's no end.

There's few drama but it's external to the relationship, and it’s a really interesting twist which puts their relationship to the test and shows their strength, maturity and the depth of their feelings for each other. Of course, the book finishes with a HEA, and I finished this one with a big smile on my face.

Jennifer Van Wyk writes the most beautiful small-town-romance, and I’m holding out hope that we’ll get books for Chad and Johnny, who would both make sensational heroes in their own books.

It's easy to read. I loved this one.

Y'all I have been in the worst book slump of my life. I am talking weeks of nothing keeping my attention. Me picking up a book to only put it down not even an hour later. It's been horrendous for being such an avid reader. I forgot what it was like to live more than one life, in more than one place, I am so glad I can finally say that Jennifer Van Wyk brought me back to life! Van Wyk slays me with not only her talented writing skills, but also with the way she creates such powerful stories. She is one of very few authors that keeps things original, and I mean that in the best of ways. I never get bored with the work she puts out because it is not the same thing over and over again. Without You is THE book that brought me back to reality, and I could not be more thankful. Without further ado, here are the reasons why this book got that 5 star review.

Everything I mentioned above, stands true with 'Without You'. The originality and great world building alone had me so intune with Katie and Brody's story. The maturity that this author showcased not only with the characters, but the entire storyline is a big reason why I loved this story so much. I was able to feel this story in a different way and that made me a very happy happy girl. The development was so classically done and that made everything flow extremely well. There was never a time where I had to pause and roll my eyes. The depth was so natural which made 'Without You' feel even more authentic. The dialogue and witty banter made me feel giddy. I was straight thrown into the swoony feeling, I could not get enough. The chemistry and romance was flipping picture perfect. Even though the actual overall storyline was not all the long, I felt the patience and hope to my core, which again goes back to the development. It never not one time felt rushed. It played out in the most important way. I felt each emotion as they did and again that goes back to the depth. Ahh someone needs to tell me to shut up because I want to keep going.

Well before I actually shut my mouth, I need to say a few things about the main characters. They are NOT your average Hero and Heroine. They know who they are and what the want, there was never a doubt in their minds. Neither have sl***y ways. They are both really good people that overall have great intentions. Now I'm back in the boat of writing a 5 million word review, so I will leave you with, I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK, and I really really hope Van Wyk gives a certain side character his own book!

Oh this book is the sweetest, sexiest, most wonderful read. A chance meeting at an ex's wedding between an unlikely couple. Brody and Katie are absolutely adorable. Their meeting for funny and joyful, their getting together was beautifully told. This book will capture your attention right from the start and give you all the warm feels you want in romance. Highly recommended.

This is such a beautiful romance! A sweet, sexy, functional love story that sizzles with chemistry, and has a whole lot of heart.

Brody is a small-town mechanic on the cusp of success, and what better way to celebrate than to get drunk and interrupt your ex-girlfriend’s wedding reception to rub her nose in it – especially because she dumped him for being a blue collar man.  It’s hilariously uncomfortable, but is most memorable for Brody because he lays eyes on a blast from his past.

Brody and Katie knew each other in high school, and though she crushed on him, nothing ever happened between them. 16 years later and she’s back in their home town, living with her parents and trying to get her life back on track. They’ve both got a lot going on, but from the moment they see each other, sparks fly, and they’re both keen to explore the all that they’re feeling.

“I want to explore the attraction between us, of course I do, but don’t think for a second that’s all I want.”

Brody is just gorgeous. Sexy, sweet, confident and caring, he’s got that perfect mix of sexy alpha and complete sweetheart, and he’s beautifully swoony. And Katie is a great heroine - real and relatable. I love these two together, and I loved watching them find their way to each other. It's sweet and natural, and it feels so real! They’re open and honest with each other, and though they have some challenges, they make the effort and the result is a beautiful romance that is full of chemistry and emotion, and has the feel of a slow burn with an epic build-up full of anticipation, and is super passionate with all the feels. I loved the attention to detail, and I loved that we experienced it all with them.

We’re all in. We’re falling fast and hard and there’s no end.

Drama comes, but it’s external to the relationship, and it’s a really interesting twist which puts their relationship to the test and shows their strength, maturity and the depth of their feelings for each other. Of course, the book finishes with a HEA, and I finished this one with a big smile on my face.

Jennifer Van Wyk writes the most beautiful small-town-romance, and I’m holding out hope that we’ll get books for Brody’s two best friends, who would both make sensational heroes in their own books.

I loved this one.

When Brody crashes his ex-girlfriend’s wedding reception, he runs into one of the bridesmaids, Katie, who went to school with Brody growing up. He was always too distracted by his flavor of the week to notice Katie, but now that she’s back in their small town after losing her job, he sees her front and center. And now that Brody has his sights set on Katie, there’s nothing he wouldn’t do to win her heart.

Without You is Jennifer Van Wyk’s latest small town romance. It’s labeled as a friends to more romance, but I don’t agree with that marketing. This is my 4th book by JVW and sadly will probably be my last, even though I adore her covers. I loved the first book I read by her, but have disliked every book since. This is a drama-free, quick romance without much going on. There’s no tension, no push & pull. Brody really doesn’t have to court Katie and there is no real conflict at the end. Sad to say this was a miss for me! 2.5/5 stars.

After a few drinks too many Brody gets the misguided idea that crashing the wedding of the girl who thought she was too good for him to show her what she was missing out on was a great idea. Instead of it being the most embarrassing moment of his life it may just become the most magical moment when he catches the eye of an old schoolmate his ex is not the woman he is thinking of.

When Katie imagined where her life would be at this point it certainly wasn’t being dependent on her parents while she tries to finish school. She had kept her attraction for Brody a well protected secret but this time he may just be willing to make both her teenage and her adult fantasies come true.

Kate is sweet and sassy while Brody is enough to make you swoon and together, they are perfection. Their journey wasn’t without out its obstacles, but the outcome was well worth the turmoil to get there.

From the first chapter, I knew that I was going to love Brody & Katie and I was right!

I loved going on Brody & Katie’s adventure. Brody & Katie have known each other for most of their lives. And after an ex’s wedding, they reunite. Brody was beyond swoon worthy! I enjoyed watching him try to win over Katie. Katie was trying to put her life back together so the last thing she expected was Brody.

I just loved how easy their friendship followed into more. I loved that there was a twist or two that I didn’t see coming. And I loved that there was a cameo from previous characters.

I have been reading Jennifer Van Wyk since her first book & I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

I have been a fan of Jennifer Van Wyk's writing since the beginning, and I think her storytelling just keeps getting better and better! Her small-town characters are some of my favorites (Brody and Katie included)!

Brody and Katie run into each other after he drunkenly crashes his ex-girlfriend's wedding reception. Katie has just moved back home after she lost her job, and needs the time to do some soul-searching on what her future will be. They spend some time getting to know each other again, and their chemistry is evident! But, things are not always easy.

I loved Brody~ he was so fun, and I loved him with his friends. He was so supportive of Katie, helping her how he could, but still allowing her to build herself up.

Jennifer Van Wyk has a fun way of telling stories. I love her character development and plots. She has another hit on her hands!

2.5 Stars.

I am so in the minority here, so take this with a grain of salt.

I just feel like I missed half the book? It’s like we jumped around back and forth. Then there were the inconsistencies. They were friends when they were younger, oh wait they barely knew each other, oh wait we had this memory together, oh I barely knew her then. I didn’t feel like there was enough backstory, then I didn’t feel like there was enough in present day either. I don’t feel like we saw them develop and fall in love with each other. Even if they did know each other well when they were younger (which most of the book says they didn’t), they’ve gone over a decade without contact and should have to get to know each other all over again because I sure as hell hope they changed from when they were sixteen years old. Then the premise of the book made it seem like Brody would have to compete with a Nashville star for Katie and that was never the case. There was never any angst or drama there because Brody and Katie were well-established by the time the Nashville star came in at like the 85% mark of the book.

Also, what drama there was was absolutely ridiculous for thirty-year-olds. Way, way too immature.

I finished this book feeling let down and like I missed chapters in the book. It was extremely unsatisfying to me, unfortunately. I wanted so much more, especially because Brody had the potential to be a top five book boyfriend!

As always, YMMV.

This is a wonderful small town romance. Brody and Katie reconnect at an ex’s wedding. Katie is funny and sweet. Right now she is at crossroad in her life. She wants to start a new career. She wants to be able to help people. Brody is wonderful guy he cannot stop thinking about Katie. Brody just
wants to protect Katie. Brodys mom and ex try to break them apart. Katie and Brody are meant for each other. Brody knows with Katie everything feels right. I love the banter in this book. The chemistry is perfect. I love how Katie and Brody forgive his mom and help her turn her life around.

I am so in love with this story!
Brody is such an amazing man..I cannot even tell you how much I love him..he made me swoon constantly..no joke.
Katie is also great, such a positive and happy person, hard working too, just like Brody.
I loved everything about this story..and while I can’t say I didn't see the twist coming it was still enjoyable.
These two were made for each other and I felt so happy at the end, even throughout the story tho..it just made me smile and swoon and wish for more men like Brody!

As always, JVW did not disappoint with this sweet, swoony, funny small town romance!

Brody and Katie were an adorable couple. He's a hard-working, big hearted (not to mention swoon worthy), all around great guy. She's real and relatable with a great sense of humor. There's drama and real life, which make this book even better.

Overall, a sweet, funny romance that you'll be glad you read!

OMG this story! I was laughing so so hard at the start of this book! Brody was absolutely amazing as he has fun and pokes the stick at his ex. But she isn’t who his eyes were on at the wedding reception. Katie caught is eye. As things play out and these two reconnect, I loved the connection they have. The level of passion as well as the respect for each other. Even as things get crazy, these two have each other’s backs. I adore how much they support each other. I adore how much the feel so deeply even though it feels a little fast but it is the perfect pace for these two. With the little twists and turns and did that just happen moments, there are multiple layers to this story that will have you beyond in love with this couple.
Overall, I am in love with Brody and Katie. They are a brilliant couple that play amazingly off of each other. Even when things go insane, they hold their own, together as a couple. The fluidity of this story as well as the build, this was a perfect friends to lovers romance that will have you swooning.

Without You is another wonderful small-town romance from Jennifer Van Wyk. Her books are always a pleasure to read. They feel real... like you can picture these characters as your friends and neighbors… or even you. Their thoughts are things that I really think — you know, not always sexy and suave, but real-life worries!

Kind of ridiculous

First of all, the blurb is a lie. It leads you to believe that Katie will be torn between Brody and a famous star, but that's not even close to being accurate. Hate it when they do that.

This author made some really weird, borderline creepy, decisions. Katie is 32, but won't stop calling her dad, "daddy". Ew. Brody won't stop winking or wiggling his eyebrows. During their first kiss, Brody goes out of his way to let us know that he doesn't care at all about consent in that moment. The author could of just made it a moment of passion, but the fact that she has Brody acknowledge that he didn't consent and then tell us that it would be "impossible" for him to stop anyways is really weird. Apparently this author doesn't care much for the me too movement.

Most of the book is spent trying to convince you that Brody is the greatest man to ever live. It felt like every few pages one of those guys from an infomercial would pop up and say "...but, wait! There's more!". Brody is the best looking guy ever. He saves kittens and helps ex cons get on their feet. He's the greatest mechanic ever. He can renovate an entire house. He's a world class chef. He's unrivaled in between the sheets. He's adored by everyone. Yada Yada Yada. I couldn't stop rolling my eyes every time Katie would gush over him. Repeatedly telling us that he was chiseled by God himself. Ugh. All that time building Brady up, but I'm not buying him being a good guy. He's actually really mean and vindictive. He crashes his ex's wedding reception and tries to ruin it. Not because he misses her or wants her back. Which means that he simply did it because he's petty and cruel. He treats his mom like absolute garbage. He goes crazy and starts slamming chairs when he remembers Katie was upset about something 15 years earlier. Seriously, his insane behavior in that scene was laugh out loud absurd.

Katie is possibly the most naive, clueless leading lady I've ever read. She doesn't understand how giving a guy a massage could lead to him being aroused. It takes about 3 pages of Chase trying to get her to understand before it finally dawns on her. Apparently she's never seen an adult video. She also doesn't think a guy who has asked her out multiple times and only had a 30 minute massage would have any ulterior motives when he offers her a job as his personal masseuse on a world tour. Yeah, nothing suspicious there. The author bends over backward in the epilogue to make Katie as dumb and clueless as can possibly be. Somehow in this tiny little town, Brody and Chad manage to build an entire health and wellness center from the ground up without her ever catching up. Truly so stupid.

Ultimately the author just tried to hard to get Brady over and Katie suffered because of it. She was a weak character who existed seemingly just to worship Brody. I thought the ending might redeem it with the job offer from Chase, but rather than flesh out the angst of that possibility, the author just veers off into bizarro world and gives us a less intriguing and underwhelming issue for them. Ultimately, I would say pass, but I know the people who give out 5 star ratings like they're M&M's will claim to love Brody and this book. Don't believe the hype.

Prepare to be hooked right from the first chapter! I do not know how Jennifer van Wyk does it time and time again, but honestly, she consistently gives her readers exactly what they're begging for.
The love story of Brody and Katie was certainly no exception. In fact, these two are tied for my favorite couple out of all the JVW works thus far. I truly LOVE all of her books, but there was just something a little extra special about the connection between Katie and Brody.

By now we all know from the book blurb, that Katie and Brody lock eyes when they see one another at his ex's wedding. How original is that for a meet cute?! Bravo JVW for surprising me once again! This was such a great stage in a romance book, and I applaud the author for her originality. I thought this was fantastic! You can only imagine the humor that a situation like this lends itself to; endearing me totally and completely to Brody and his wounded pride. What was so special about this chance meeting, was how it caught not only Katie off guard, but threw Brody for a loop as well when he spotted a girl he hadn't seen in ages. His reaction to her and hers to him reeled me right in. Katie and Brody are that couple...the one that speeds up your heartbeat, the one you read about with that big, wide grin on your face, the one that has you cheering with every flip of the page for the HEA they deserve. As a reader, you feel this intense connection to them, you are invested in their journey, and you feel the emotions along with them. They were PERFECT together! They had insane chemistry and passion, and a genuine friendship supported by common goals and mutual respect. They are the IT couple that everyone WILL LOVE!!! 😘

In addition to my love of Brody and Katie, there was lots going on with the secondary characters. Some real depth of emotion is explored here as well and I look forward to hopefully (fingers crossed) getting some new stories based on Brody's friends. OH PLEASE JVW! 🙏

Overall, another great story full of twists and turns, but completely balanced with love, humor, and passion. Just a great romance read escape that anyone would love. I can't wait to see what comes next!

The book begins with Brody showing up at his ex girlfriend's wedding drunk to show her he is better off without her. He is a mechanic and she left him for a whitr collor ambitious guy. But soon Brody gets a seven figure contract to custom make vehicles for members of a rockband.

Katie is a bridesmaid at the wedding and catches Brody's eye. Katie and Brody always liked each other but they didn't run in the same circles and his girlfriends were mean to her so she stayed away. But now when they meet again after a very long time they decide to get together.

Brody and Katie begin dating and they are both building their careers.Katie goes to school for massage therapy and gets a job.

Brody's celebrity client Chase meets Katie when she was stranded on the roadside and helps her, he asks her out,but she refuses, she gets breakfast with him as a sign of gratitude.Chase finds the massage place she works at and makes an appointment. He offers her a job as a masseuse for his rock band.

Brody gets to know about it all, and he leaves the choice to Katie but soon all the media sites began featuring articles with Katie shown as a homewrecker, and a two timing cheater. The paps got hold of her pics with Chase and those with Brody.

As it turns out Brody's bitter ex sold an intimate video of Brody and Katie to the paparazzi along with the cooked up story out of spite. She gets arrested in the end

The book ends with Brody and Katie engaged.

Honestly i didn't enjoy this book, it was really sloppy writing. The time switches made a lot of trouble for me. I would not reread this book again.

I always adore the books this author writes, and this was no exception!! Both of these characters were just so amazing, and I love the way JVW depicts real, mature relationships. Both with the ease of falling in love, and the honest way to keep that loving feeling. I just adore her so much!!

So here we have Brody, who is a small town mechanic who is so close to making his dreams come true. However he still feels the pain of having heart broken because he wasn't rich enough. So what better way to prove his ex-love wrong by showing up at her wedding with the man she left him for? But Brody got way more than he expected, in the beautiful package that is Katie.

Katie and Brody knew each other in high school, and she always had the biggest crush on him. She's finally back home all these years later, and the attraction between her and Brody is more intense than ever, and they can't deny it anymore.

I just loved how honest and easy their relationship was! There wasn't really any over the top drama (I mean, there was some drama, but nothing annoying between the two of them) and they actually *gasp* COMMUNICATED with one another!!! PLUS Brody was the perfect mix of of sexy alpha and a genuine sweetheart. His love for Katie radiated in everything he did, and I loved that they both found that in each other!

I just loved this book so much!! Brody and Katie were just absolutely perfect!!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**

Without You by Jennifer van Wyk is the perfect reading if you love small town romance and friends to lovers. This is the story of Brody and Katie who used to know each other when they were younger and Katie was friend with Brody's ex girlfriend. And they find each other in the weeding of THAT ex girlfriend once Brody got there drunk to tell her thank you for leaving him, because now he has a better opportunity in life.

Katie is back in her hometown because she finds herself without job, house, etc so she goes back to live with her parents and work for her dad until she finish her massage school that's what she really want to do as a job. Once back in the town she find herself crushing again on Brody but this time Brody is feeling the same so they start to see each other and see what happens because they know both at the moment have stressful life with no so much free time but everything good is worth a try right??

So if you want to see how they manage to have their work lifes in the line and their love life too you need to read this story as soon as is available, because they will need to confront some difficult situations that involves an jealous exgirlfriend, but they will fight for the love no matter what.

If you have read any book by Jennifer you know her style and this one was just perfect nad beautiful, if you are looking for a small town romance, with swoon and sexy moments this book is for you.

Are you a country music fan? Do you remember the old Garth Brooks song “Friends in Low Places”? If not, go look it up on YouTube, listen to it, then read the first chapter of Without You, or read it again if you’ve already read it. I’m a fan of older country music, so I knew exactly where this idea in chapter one came from almost as soon as it began. And it. Was. Everything! Then it was the start of everything.

NICUnurse’s Rating: I’ve loved Jennifer Van Wyk’s books since I first got my hands on From the Ground Up (her debut book) a couple of years ago. Something about her writing connected with me, and it still does with each new release. She writes heart-warming stories with such sou and wonderful characters that I gobble each one up then sit not-so-patiently waiting for the next book. And Without You was no exception. Despite Katie being at a crossroads in her life and Brody on the cusp of amazing career success, they have so much chemistry. And the amount of trust they have in each other was simply breathtaking. Brody is a true Southern gentleman, and since I love the men here in the deep South, I couldn’t help but fall in love with Brody too. I’m totally a sucker for friends-to-lovers stories, so this book was right up my alley. Once more, Jennifer Van Wyk proves to this reader that she’s a talented writer that has absolutely solidified her place on my automatic 1-click author list.

I give Without You by Jennifer Van Wyk 5 out of 5 stars!

Jennifer delivers yet another amazing small town romance that gives you all the feels with the sweet and sexy vibes!

The book starts in an interesting way that I didn't expect Brody shows up drunk at his ex-girlfriend's wedding reception. Katie is a bridesmaid in the wedding. It's definitely different than what I expected but then we finally get into Brody & Katie in the following chapters. They knew each other in high school but even though Katie had a crush on Brody nothing happened. She's back in town now and Brody is totally interested. Sparks fly at their first true meeting and I couldn't wait for it to be explored. Brody is a gorgeous, sexy, sweet, confident, caring guy who is just perfect and yes I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop because he is so dang perfect. Katie is great as well. I love them together and watching them explore each other. They do face challenges but I love the effort they both put into everything and how real it feels. Of course there is drama and twist but they handled it all so well and of course we get our happily ever after. I just loved this book and once I got started I couldn't put it down.

I'm definitely hoping we get books for Brody's two best friends that we were introduced too.

An ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

“Congratulations, I guess.” I smirk and face her. One last time. “Thank you, Hannah. Means a lot to me. I know I wasn’t the man you wanted and I’m happy about that. See. You cheating on me with Cameron did me a favor. Helped me to clearly see what — and who — I want in my life. And someone who’s,” I turn and quickly say to her parents, “sorry about this, but you know it’s true,” then I say to Hannah, “a stuck-up bitch who thinks she’s better than everyone else, has no room in my life.”

First time reader of Ms Van Wyk’s. An easy to read friends to lovers, small town romance. The characters were genuine and extremely likeable, I laughed along at their antics. Brody certainly dodged a bullet when Hannah cheated on him. Making an inebriated decision to crash their wedding, congratulating the happy couple was hilarious. He didn’t bargain on seeing the girl he hadn’t seen since school finished though. Even though nothing had ever begun with them, they had unfinished business and he was going to make sure Katie knew about it. A series of things happened making everything fall into place, some people call that fate. Highly entertaining, humorous, steamy, chivalrous and there’s a few feel good moments when pulling that bitch down a peg or two.

WOW!!! I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book!!!!

Without You by the lovely romance author Jennifer Van Wyk, warmed my heart, had me in tears, and had me laughing out loud. This beautifully written love story made me want to savor the book, but at the same time…I didn’t want to put it down. The opening chapter was hilarious and vengeful, and the strong storyline continued throughout this entire book.

The characters were a fantastic blend of different backgrounds, attitudes, and history. The supporting characters made me giddy! They added so much “extra” to the storyline in such a great way! There were some wonderfully touching family relationships that completely warmed my heart, and just increased the overall deeply-loved feelings I had for this entire romance.

Brody and Katie definitely had their challenges in this small town romance. The twists in the storyline, and the decisions and possibilities that they each faced and how they handled them, made them such strong characters and I really loved and appreciated how Ms. Van Wyk wrote them! This hot book is an absolute 5 star for me!!!

Another slam dunk, Jennifer! I am so in love with all your books. This one was such a fun book though. You had me laughing out loud right in the beginning. And I fell in love with Brody in that moment too. How he didn’t take crap from anyone and was his own man. Didn’t let anyone tell him he wasn’t good enough. Because he knew. He was the person he is because of hard work, loyal to his best friends, Chad and Johnny (hope they get book too) and just being a great person. He has always had a soft spot for Katie. Ever since she moved to town back in high school. And Katie always harbored a crush on Brody. Neither of them ever acted on these feelings until much later in their lives. Katie is down on her luck. But because of this she decides what she wants to do with her life and with whom. She works hard to achieve her dream and it pays off in the end. The two of them are friends first, who gradually move into the lovers category. I loved the slow burn of their relationship. The humor made me laugh or smile a lot. Even the bump in the road these two experienced didn’t tear them apart. I absolutely loved this book and it is a definite must read!

OMGeeeeeee!! My first book by this author, but definitely not my last!!!

We all have books where the characters become a part of us and stay in the back of our minds. Well this book is me....I still think about these characters, wonder what they are doing, and definitely wanting more of them!!

Katie & Brody were friends in high school but lost contact with each over after she moved away. Now back living in the same town, a chance meeting has them back in each other's world. Both of them are very busy building their professional careers, so they are rebuilding their friendship and getting to know each other at a slow rate.

A slow build, a slow burn, falling in love on top of a great friendship. They are finally on the path to having it all.....each other and amazing professional careers, when a jealous ex reaches the lowest of lows and threatens to destroy everything they have built. Is their love strong enough to overcome the chaos and scrutiny they are now facing?

I really hope the author makes this a series and gives Brody's best friends a book of their own!!

I read this book in less than 5 hours it was so amazing!
If you are looking for a great fall read that will leave you feeling warm and cozy this is the one. The first chapter started off with me laughing my butt off and from there I was hooked. The characters are awesome and the character development, maturity and growth shows the reader what a wonderful author Jennifer is.
Brody is hot, mature, and a man that I would want in my life. Katie represents what I believe a lot of women go through in life, a sudden loss of job, moving home lost and rebuilding her life.
They start off reconnecting as they were friends in the past. Then they build into a really great friendship that effortlessly flows in to love. It entertaining, beautiful to read, and is a stand a lone novel that everyone should read! You won't regret it and just like many before you, you will fall in love with these characters and story.
