Part of the Fallon Mates series.Laith d’Amato never thought to form a mate-bond outside his race, but when he sees Cyan Dupre, the human female the scientists on Belizair have matched him to, he’s more than willing to claim her. Exquisite. Feminine. Intoxicating. Dreams of sharing her with Rykken d’Vesti become a vision of certainty for Laith. Only by including Rykken in the mate-bond will there be hope for Belizair. One look at Cyan and the mating fever of his race swamps Rykken. Without the wings of the Vesti and Amato she seems fragile, in need of a strong male to care for her. It’s not the Vesti way, but for the sake of friendship and the future of Belizair, Rykken will fight his genetic imperative and cultural upbringing. He’ll join with Laith in the first sharing of a human female.Lethal grace and poetic beauty, Cyan finds it impossible to resist Laith and Rykken. They’re erotic fantasy and artistic inspiration—but loving them comes with a choice between doing what’s right for her heart or what’s right for her art.
Jory has been writing since childhood and has never outgrown being a daydreamer. When she's not hunched over her computer, lost in the muse and conjuring up new heroes and heroines, she can usually be found reading, riding her horses, or hiking with her dogs.
I read this in a couple of hours. It's the prequel to the Fallon Mates series. A little back ground into what the series is about and what happened on the home planet of the Vesti and the Amato, Belizair. Originally they were The Fallon. They separated into the 2 different species. Years later while at war with the Hotaling, another species who want their planet, they were infected with a weaponized virus that has prevented the females of both from falling pregnant. The Fallon, winged beings that once walked the earth and were revered as angels and demons. Some mated with the humans and so the genes were created. In order to prevent the extinction of their species the scientist have found that if 1 Vesti and 1 Amato male take a human female mate with the Fallon gene they are able to make babies. If a female Amato and a male Vesti take a male human with the gene they are also able to make offspring. This prequel explains how it came to be that both the Vesti and Amato were needed to create the babies. Liath d'Amato has been on earth as a bounty hunter. He offered his blood as others did and the scientists have found him a match. Her name is Cyan Dupre. She is an artist. After meeting Cyan, Liath starts to have dreams about the life he and Cyan will have once they are bonded. In the dreams he sees that the only way to happiness and offspring, is if he and his partner Rykken d'Vesti both claim Cyan as their bond mate. He spends time getting to know her and takes her to stay in a cabin. As much as he wants to mate with her, he believes the dreams are a true seeing. He goes back home to convince Rykken to come back to mate with Cyan. Rykken agrees to go back to earth and meet Cyan. As soon as the car pulls up and he sees her on the porch in the headlights, the Vesti mating frenzy takes hold. He must have Cyan, but he must also overcome the fierce possessiveness that comes with mating, not to share her with anybody. It is not the Vesti way. His friendship and trust in Liath's dream has been the only thing preventing him from taking her and claiming her as his. Laws of their world prevent them from revealing their true selves to Cyan until she agrees to mate bond with them and return to their home. Bracelets that have been made for Cyan are placed on her wrists. Once this is achieved they go the travel port where they both penetrate her and the bonding ceremony takes place. During the claiming and bonding ceremony Rykken injects Cyan with a mating serum through his fangs, the stones on the bands of Liath and Rykken fill with energy, separate and slide into place on Cyan's bands. Creating the bond that then lets them communicate via the mind and Cyan able to live on their world with them. A great introduction to The Fallen series.
I really LOVED the idea of this story, but I felt a little lost because the author was describing things that the main characters did in the past. I have a feeling that in book one or two I might get a better explanation of what is going on, but at the moment I'm lost. I cannot wait to read the first book in the series and see where this adventure leads me.
I enjoyed this male female male story. Hot alien winged men with one female. Come on. What is there not to love. This is the first story from the series that I started to read. I look forward to the other stories.
I read this thinking it was a prequel. Oh well. Turns out it is a prequel per the author's website. I corrected the incorrect data. It's very nearly no plot, just porn. You don't get to know the world the guys come from. You don't get to know the characters personalities. There is a lot of sex. I'd say, 90% is sex. If you're into nothing but sex scenes, that's fine, but I like a bit more substance with my erotica. (And the length isn't an excuse as I've read shorter stories with more detail and substance, so it can be done). I'll give one of the longer books a try and see if they're better.
I love this series, I do! With this book I was excited to read more of this world and characters involved. While it is not a bad bit of writing, I want MORE!!
I want more story I want to know more about how Laith and Rykken met and became a team. .... more more more please!
I am really surprised to see this being sold for $4.31. This is barely a novella and should be priced accordingly. I read it has part of a collection of short stories in Forbidden Fantasies (Ellora's Cave). It has a great concept and Strong is a decent writer but the story is really compressed. It is essentially one long sex scene. I think 99 cents would be about right for this one.
Well, it was short which makes sense since it's 0.5. This was the start of the series and Strong didn't drag it out and got right to the good parts. It did have a feeling of being rushed and ended a bit too quickly especially when this family is either mentioned or shown in all the other books.
Excellent start to the series. I really enjoyed this one. If you love reading sci-fi menage romance then this is a terrific series. Looking forward to the next one.
usually I really like Jory Strong's books - not sure if I will pursue this series...can't really make up my mind...maybe I'm just in a bit of a reading funk.
this book was very short and needed more in it however I have read that the second book has more content and should be a better read, either way I shall let you know
