The information is too dense and poorly organized, not to mention dry. Even for someone interested in dance, it is too borin to follow or retain. The illustrations are poorly drawn and there is not enough of them!

Not fair for me to rate this, because it was written for dancers. I enjoyed the intro and the chapter on history, and then skipped around. The book also includes a very helpful glossary. Great book for, as the title indicates, a beginning student of modern dance.

Good book for dancers beginner and advanced. I learned things that I have never been taught even through all of the years I have been dancing.
