There was a surprising amount of nightmare fuel in here

May 19, 2010This is a reference book which I mostly skimmed through, so I am not giving it a rating.
But this book is a very good visual reference guide for identifying Barbies and other Mattel dolls from 1959 to 2009. Since I'm not well-versed at Barbie collecting, I can't comment on the accuracy or completeness of each line. But I did notice that not all 2009 dolls are included, probably because the information was not available at the time of publication. This book contains market value prices which should probably be checked online since they are subject to change.

Anna and I had a great time flipping through this book! I had no idea Barbie was so detailed! There is, of course, typical Baribe, Ken and Kelly, but also Skipper (who was around LONG before Kelly), Tuti and Todd, Stacie and Krissy! (All Barbie's siblings!!) Skipper dated some skater guy, eventually moved on to Kevin. You can also buy their cousins, cousins' friends, boyfriends, Baribe's friends, Barbie's friends' boyfriends, Midge (Barbie's original best friend), Midge's boyfriend (turned husband) Midge's three kids (including Midge pregnant), Midge's neighbors, Midge's parents, Midge's husband (Alan)'s parents, and numerous other themes, topics and ideas. it was fun to watch fashion change, Barbie's faces change, and, as it says in the Bible, that there truly is "nothing new under the sun."
