Always an adventurer in life as well as writing, New York Times best-selling author Cherry Adair moved halfway across the globe from Cape Town, South Africa to the United States in her early years to become a interior designer. Now a resident of the Pacific Northwest she shares the award- winning adventures of her fictional T-FLAC counter terrorism operatives with her readers.

Cherry settled in beautiful San Francisco, where she started what eventually became a thriving interior design business. "I loved being a designer because it was varied and creative, and I enjoyed working with the public." A voracious reader when she was able to carve out the time, Cherry found her brain crowded with characters and stories of her own. "Eventually," she says, "the stories demanded to be told."

When asked why she chooses to write romantic action adventure, she says, "Who says you can’t have adventure and a great love life? Of course if you’re talking about an adventurous love life, that’s another thing altogether. I write romantic suspense coupled heart-pounding adventure because I like to entertain, and nothing keeps readers happier than a rollercoaster read, followed by a happy ending."

Popular on the workshop circuit, Cherry gives lively classes on writing and the writing life. Pulling no punches when asked how to become a published writer, Cherry insists, "Sit your butt in the chair and write. There's no magic to it. Writing is hard work. It isn't for sissies or whiners."

Cherry loves to spend time at home. A corner desk keeps her focused on writing, but the windows behind her, with a panoramic view of the front gardens, are always calling her to come outside and play. Her office has nine-foot ceilings, a fireplace, a television and built-in bookcases that will house approximately 3,500 paperback books.

"What can I say? My keeper shelf has been breeding in the middle of the night, rather like drycleaners' wire clothes hangers.”

This was my first T-FLAC book. I know, I know! What kind of idiot would start with the 11th book in a series?!? Well, see, it's like this: my library had a book sale - I bought it in hardback for 50 cents. How could I pass that up? Then I decided with 700+ books on my TBR list, I didn't have the time or money to buy and read the first 10 books. Now, what I'm wondering is: whereas I thoroughly enjoyed this book and gave it 5 stars, and whereas several people whose reviews I trust implicity gave this one 4 stars but others in the series 5 stars, does that mean the best is yet to come for me? How can I award more than 5 stars then?

Seriously, I loved it. It had everything I would expect in an action/adventure, Alpha male/strong female romance with a lot of heat (so expect some explicit scenes and language) and more.

I have read this series all the way to number 11. Some were fantastic, some were great and some were bad. You never know which Cherry Adair you are going to get. The plot was uneven and the writing choppy, with transitions that made little sense and out of this world plot pivots. Literally unbelievable at times. I liked Max, I really did, but he was just so closed to any emotion other than the sexual, it got old really fast. I couldn't understand why he was so scared of letting Emily get close, other than sexually. He had seen other operatives do it, why did he think he just couldn't? And, Emily. Don't get me started on her. Bitchy and a shrew and TSTL and what a mouth she had.
I get the fantastic sex, but that was a lot to put up with to get to that.

A year ago Max used his father, Daniel, and Emily to get to a Russian terrorist, stuck around for some wall banging sex and split. Since Daniel was Emily's mentor as an art restorer and together they were the best in the business. Daniel wasn't all he seemed to be and he colored Emily's opinions about Max. When Max turns up after Daniel's death and saves Emily from an intruder, the affair is rekindled, but the action is non stop. Why are they after Emily and why are churches which have artwork she worked on blowing up? It becomes Max's full time job to keep Emily alive. Secret terrorist organizations, colleagues betraying the good guys and a bang of an ending.

My first book by this author. It made my head spin, but in a good way. Tons of twists and turns. More sex than I have ever read in a book. FBI, Secret Ops, murder, art, and so much more.

4,5🌟 This was a lot of fun

This book totally deserves the award it won. And it is free on KU.
I was in the edge of my seat from the word go. It was fast paced and included a d@m good murder mystery, some really good fights, a ton of blood and some gore, exciting action, steamy tension before the steam really picked up.
This is the enhanced edition which means we have a ton of fun extra information, including dosier on the 2 main characters (Max and Emilly), plus condensed info on side characters, and lots of photos of everything in the novel, we get a great visual of all the is white heat and the TFLAC agency plus interview with authos, etc. Basically the last 20% of the book is extra stuff that fans will enjoy.

One year ago Emily lost her heart to love 'em and leave 'em Max. So when he turns up at her doorstep to proclaim his father and Emily's mentor has been murdered and Emily's life is at risk and he trusts no one but himself to personally see to her safety, she is of course first furious, then saddened by his father's death and then scared out of her mind.

He walked away from their love and now he wants to just show up unannounced and protect her? No way! Trusting this man with her heart had her in tears and her life shattered so trusting him to protect her will be a huge mistake, yet deep down she knows he is more than capable of ensuring her safety at all costs, if she can keep her heart out of the deal then surely letting him protect her won't be all that bad, it's not like she has a death wish., but it's not like she can resist the man either.

And so starts the mind blowing journey of two people chasing cars, dodging bullets and falling back into a hotter than hot passionate affair. But whist fighting to stay alive and getting lost in passion they both have to keep in mind that just like the first time this will end far too soon.

I adore all books by this author, she takes you on thrilling adventures that one only sees in the movies. She brings to life the action like no other can. When the bullets start flying I found myself jumping up and yelling out " Run, run now! "

The author put me front and center for one of the best action romantic suspense reads of my life! I was addicted from page one and fell head over heals in love with the characters, I simply could not stop myself from flipping the pages to see what comes next, who dies, who gets caught and just who is who.

I was truly sad for Max, as a T-Flac agent life is never simple and the name of the game is to keep moving, so a normal life is never on the cards, yes woman would think him a real bastard each time he walks away but the author does a stunning job at showing his reasons as valid. It also showed him a real man, and by that I mean that this is the type of man that will risk his own happiness to ensure the safety of others, and to me there is nothing more heroic.

The character of Emily was fascinating, I was completely entranced by this woman , it was as if the author had taken a real life person and dropped her into the middle of a thrilling adventure. Nothing about this character felt unrealistic. The fear she feels when in danger, the heat and attraction towards Max, the hurt she has to face when knowing this might be the last time she ever sees Max. I felt each and every emotion and lived Emily's life with each word.

I highly recommend this book for all fans of romantic suspense reads, the author created realistic characters, a mind blowing adventure and all with such vivid intense clarity it felt as if I was apart of it all.

How long does it take to get over what might be love? Well at least 11 months, 3 weeks and 1 day. Just ask art restorer Emily Greene. That was the last time Emily saw T-FLAC Operative Max Aries. When he finally answered a summons from her and helped save her from being burgled she remembered exactly how she felt, the last time she saw him and how much she'd need to protect her heart this time. This intricate story has Max and his team providing protection for Emily as they try to figure out what connections exist between his father's death, the death of Emily's friends family, her thwarted kidnapping and possibly other related mysterious deaths and terrorist acts. With their days full of keeping Emily safe and team deployments fighting more terrorists threats and actions and their nights full of fighting their rekindled romance Emily and Max are busy.
I enjoyed this storyline taking place across Europe and trying to figure out what Emily had or saw that made her target. Both leads were great, Max oozed take charge alpha male in protective mode and Emily was smart and independent and not TSTL. Together they made a good couple with lots of chemistry. I thought as smart as Emily was she was a bit one-track with harping on Max's non-existent relationship with his father who was also her mentor. The maniacal villain was such a sociopath you could practically hear the mwah hah hah! The good action set pieces and a closer look at T-FLAC as well as resolution on an outstanding problem helped make this a fun read.

One star is two too many. I couldn't even finish it. There are pages of her wondering if he can be trusted; should she sleep with him; should she have slept with him; can she count on him; she wants her new boyfriend, but even after six months she hasn't slept with him; is she cheating him since she can't care as much as the one she is worrying can she trust; and on and on and on....

There are pages of him wondering why he is jealous when: "the end justifies the means, no harm, no foul" when he slept with her, used her to get access to someone and then left her with no word - nine months age. Not only why is he jealous but, he will never be tied down, he wants her, will never commit and cannot love; and on and on and on....

Then the profanity, because he can't say any sentence without some. But clencher was his favorite phrase, "Jesus fuck". I was reaching for my whiteout but decided I didn't have enough and the book is not worth the effort.

Trash heap for this one.

I didn't realize this book was part of a series. Clearly, some back story would've helped a bit, but it's not hard to follow as a standalone book.

Emily is a highly skilled art restorer and copier living in Italy. Max is the son of her mentor. They had a brief fling almost a year ago, and then Max disappeared. Now he's back, and, when she becomes the target of a mysterious intruder, Emily learns that Max is an agent for the antiterrorist agency T-FLAC. But not even he can protect her from the machinations of a villain who is using fine art as a cover for his evil plans.

Lots of action, plot twists, and steamy romance.

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked this book. Parts of it were kinda cheesy but didn't detract from the story or characters. Max irritated me a bit sometimes; he'd mention how he had no problem just up and leaving Emily the first time but then at other times would mention how hard it was to leave her that time. Considering this is the first book in the series I've read, I think the author did a good job of giving me the rundown on who and what T-FLAC was without boring me to tears. I think I might pick up other books of hers in this series.

I dislike when an author repeats the same sentences too frequently. Either she thinks we are slow or she really has nothing much to say

Max - yeah... the typical special forces T-FLAC man - had an indifferent, self-centered cheating father who left them when he was 10, has sworn off long term relationships - they don't fit into his lifestyle... Emily - unknown father, a ex-model, needy, once beautiful addict mother - at age of 11, whe meets Daniel (Max's father) - an artist, and she manages to get him and her mother agree to take her on as an apprentice, and he paid for her to live in a boarding school in Italy and art schools... she excells at restoration and reproduction paintings - and has painted Daniel's commisions in this area for him as he is suffering - for the past 10 years...

Emily and Max met a year ago when Max used his father's name for entrance to an artsy party in Italy - and they had a week of great sex (after Max completed his mission of course)... and then Max didn't show up at a restaurant and Emily didn't hear from him again... a year later, Emily starts leaving messages for Max when his father died - he didn't get it until 3 weeks later, when a mission is completed... and he changes courses on the jet, an shows up at her palazzo at 3 am... she doesn't awaken when he knocks - he climbs up to her balcony window - she's not in her room... she starts through the house, where she hits him over the head with a pan and knees him in the groin before she realizes its him... she had just knocked out an intruder... she calls in a cleanup team - and then a hazmet team when they find an empty vial in her room...

so Emily and Max become tied at the hip, until their health is ruled ok, until she is no longer in danger - and Emily knows max can't give her his heart - and fights her attraction to him, trying to keep her new boyfriend uppermost in mind...they go to Daniel's palazzo - and hunt through his things - Max knowing his father's (sperm donor) death was murder, not suicide.... they find a sketch of Emily (the only one he had ever done) but on regular paper, in ink, and with nonsensical letters printed around it -

Emily leaves Max (with Max thinking he is going to deliver her home) and goes to her boyfriend's house, and he and his family are all dead - killed in their kitchen... Max & team are right there and save her from the attacker still in the house ... she's obviously still under attack... on the way to the private plane, they are stopped by 6 poliz vans - but not the police... they manage to get out of it, with minor injuries - on the plane, Emily asks him to have sex with her, to help her forget... they other painter/restorers are being found dead - apparently of heart attacks, but they find an empty vial also in their studios... her initial attacker carries a rose tattoo... the terrorist called the Rose...

and there are mosques & temples being blown up... by the rose - with bombs set in paintings donated by 80 year old tillman - after Emily and Daniel had painted reproductions for him to keep in his own collection... except he placed the copies with the various religious places and kept the originals... and it wasn't actually Tillman, but his assistant - who was running his empire, using his money, to fund his own terrorist / illegal gun sales etc for 20 years - he was working with Savage - a TFLAC agent gone rogue - they knew she was a leader of a cell in theRose, and were watching her with the expectation she would lead them to others... and he is after anyone familiar with the copies of the paintings - and again almost kills Emily with his poison spider delivered in a vial he placed in her purse when she and Max tried to visit Tillman... and then after she recovered (she was in the facility when bitten, and the immediate medical care saved her)...

and then the assistant and Savage arrange for Emily's kidnapping from the facility, under the eye of TFLAC, though not with Max's knowledge - he has left again on a mission, with the intention of breaking off from her - expecially after feeling so helpless when she was poisoned. And the assistant takes her to Rome (where Max is because that is where they expect the next bomb) - to a room under the Vatican, and ties her to a bomb - hits her a few times - puts a camera on her... which broadcasts 30 minutes before the bomb is to explode unless he gets a billion dollars... on camera, she tells Max she loves him - tells him (and all) about what the assistant was doing... Max and bomb expert get to her... assitant's assistant comes in to shoot them - they kill her, the detonator is in her pocket - the timer has 5 seconds left.. Max hits the off button...

a month later, Emilyis resigned that Max is gone for good - she's moving on... comes home from a party - a Max is there - and after beating a bit around the bush and Emily trying to be passive and controlled finally admits he can't live without her... ahhhhh

Ugh. This book was the worst. It was nonstop running around. No character development. No chemistry. It was just completely all over the place--and boring. So, so boring. If there ever was a T-FLAC Series book to skip, it would be this one. It was just terrible.

Emily Green restores art and when her mentor, Daniel Aries, and father to her ex-lover, Max, dies, it sets off a chain of events that puts her in serious danger. Max, of course, finally shows up but seems indifferent to her, except for a few times where they have quickies. They run around constantly. Just. Run. And run. And run. And run. Bad guys everywhere. Nonstop. So boring. And we wait the whole book to see if Max gets his head out of his a$%. Oh goodie.

This book was such a struggle. I'm surprised I even finished it because I wanted to DNF it so many times, but I pushed through. I don't know why because the ending wasn't that great either. Sigh. I'm hoping the next one is better. T-FLAC books are all over the place in quality, so it's hard to tell what you're going to get quality wise.

Not as good as the others, but still lots of action and was defintely good.

Professional art restorer Emily Greene is in no mood to see the devil-may-care Max Aries. She hasn’t forgotten–or forgiven–the way Max dropped into her life a year ago, stole her heart, then vanished without a word. Max hadn’t kept in touch with his father, Daniel, either. Daniel Aries had been a master of art restoration and reproduction, and not only Emily’s longtime mentor, but a trusted friend. His unexpected suicide devastates her. And when the prodigal playboy Max returns, her welcome is less than warm–even though his timely arrival in her bedroom saves her from a lethal intruder. But her fury gives way to fear when Max reveals that his father’s death was actually murder . . . and that Emily’s life is now in danger. Like it or not, to stay alive, Emily must put herself in Max’s hands. And once upon a time, that wasn’t such a bad place to be.

But what killer would target professional restorers of Renaissance artworks? Max suspects that a pencil sketch found in his father’s studio, inscribed with a cryptic code, may hold the key. His hunch is confirmed when intel from his control at the counterterrorist organization T-FLAC reveals that the Black Rose terror cell is involved–a chilling revelation that elevates the threat level almost as high as the tension that’s bristling between Max and Emily. Max isn’t about to take his eyes off Emily–though only partly for professional reasons–and even Emily’s rage over Max’s take-charge attitude can’t compare to her anger at herself for so long denying the truer, deeper feelings she has for him. As they crisscross Europe, piecing together the shocking clues to an insidious international plot, dodging increasingly lethal traps, and passionately making up for too much lost time, they realize that–in more ways than one–they can’t live without each other. With no chance of turning back, Max and Emily must put their lives on the line, put their true feelings to the test . . . and get ready to take the heat

Review: Your mission, should you decide to read it, is to have a few hours adrenaline pumped excitement and sizzling romance with the new T-FLAC suspense by Cherry Adair. T-FLAC operative Max Aries returns to Italy at the request of an old lover and because his estranged father death leaves Max with a lot of unanswered questions. Emily Greene is an art restorer and it was Max’s father that took her under his wings to teach her this trade. She met Max a year before through his father and shared several nights of unforgettable passion. Then Max just disappeared without saying goodbye. Max returns to Emily’s home at the same time that a burglar has broken in and this leaves mysterious links between his father’s death, the art world and a terrorist cell that T-FLAC operatives have been working to bring down. People Emily knows are being murdered and Max is determined to protect her while trying to solve the puzzling links that are being connected to the Black Rose terrorist cell. Emily’s life has quickly turned chaotic and out of control and being around Max is testing her feelings and passion where he is concerned.

Their journey will take you to various places in the world and their scorching romance will burn up the pages in this action packed novel of danger, suspense and tantalizing love. You can feel the chemistry and danger that surrounds our hero and heroine. You’ll not want to put this book down as the plot twists come together and explode into a fantastic ending. With the spine tingling danger, stomach churning suspense, bullets flying from every corner and red hot romance you get White Heat. Cherry Adair has once again created a heart pounding read with extraordinary characters in extraordinary circumstances that will leave the reader hungering for more. White Heat is an excellent novel and one that I recommend as a keeper.

Cherry Adair has always been hit or miss with me. So far I've read 8 of her books (including this one) and four were 4 star reads (In Too Deep, Out of Sight, Kiss and Tell and Hide and Seek) and four were 3 star reads (Edge of Danger, Night Fall, Dare Me and this one.)

I think the problem with this one was that I just couldn't connect with either Emily or Max. I didn't really like either character and throw in art (which I don't know anything about) and terrorists (which I hate), it just didn't do it for me. Oh well maybe the next one will be a winner.

Sleeping with Max Aries was a mistake. Falling for Max Aries was a bigger mistake. Letting him back in her life was a mistake Emily Greene was not about to let happen.

Emily called and left multiple messages for Max to contact her after his father died; but being a T-FLAC agent, and the fact he harbored no love for his father, made it difficult for Max to get to Europe in a decent amount of time.

When Max does get to Emily's apartment it's during the middle of the night, he breaks in, and saves Emily from an attacker. Nice way to be reunited.

A series of attempted kidnappings and murders lead Max to believe someone is coming after Emily, but why? With the help of his T-FLAC agents and contacts Max discovers someone is out to silence Emily and he has to find them and stop them. The pair race across Europe and North America trying to solve the mystery.

This book is sooo good. I don't think there is a single dull moment in the entire thing. It was action packed and hot.

Emily and Max have so much chemistry that it's evident from the first time the interact on page. Max is a crazy skilled T-FLAC agent and Emily is an artist that isn't stupid or incapable of taking care of herself. The bad guy was a shock to me, but oddly enough his accomplice was not.

Would definitely recommend this book to any and all!

Never have the stakes been higher. Never have two people faced greater risks or grappled with deeper desire. Never has Cherry Adair 13award-winning author of Hot Ice 13burned the pages with so much blazing action and blistering passion.

Cherry Adair has a way of sucking you right into her books, and White Heat is no different. Fast paced, strong male character Max is an Alpha male who thinks he is impervious to love, while Emily (she is no simpering female) is the perfect foil for him.

I hate reviews that give away more than the synopsis on the back of the book............. lets just say that this is another wonderful work by Cherry. Its fast paced, her descriptions make you believe that you are right there with the characters, and she makes you ache to read the next book in the series.

You do not need to read the books in order (I'm not.... I'm starting Hot Ice right now)... White Heat will make you laugh and cry and cheer for the characters! which in my opinion is the mark of a great book :D

Intense suspense - Max Aries is a TFLAC operator whose personal are professional lives has just joined. Emily Greene is an art restorer in Florence and was protege to Max's father. When Daniel Aries dies, Max discovers that his and Emily's art works are being blown up in religious building around the world by the Black Rose terrorist group Max has been hunting. The race is on to prevent further bombings and save Emily's life. A little gory at times with a high body count, but fast paced and well done story. Makes more sense if you've read the previous books in the series, but okay as a stand-alone. Minimal sex.

I haven't been a fan of Adair and thought her T-FLAC books poorly-written despite my being such an action-romance junkie. I decided to buy Hot Ice last year and found it better than the other T-FLAC books so I bought White Heat expecting Adair's latest would be as good, at least. I was wrong and found nothing to hold my attention in White Heat.

Emily was unattractive and Max Aries...well, I really expected much more from a T-FLAC hero. White Heat came across surprisingly amateurish in tone - too much repetition about how hot the H & H found each other. I kept saying, "Okay, okay, we know. Now let's move on, shall we, children?". In the end, I could not finish it.

I've enjoyed all the T-Flac books I've read so far (I've skipped the paranormal ones at this point, but read all the others). I loved Hot Ice (the book that preceded White Heat) and was so looking forward to Max's book. Unfortunately, it fell short for me. I didn't understand Max's inability to commit, considering how many other T-Flac operatives have already gotten together before him, and considering how encouraging he was to St. John in the previous book. Emily came off as shrewish to me at times, and I didn't feel a connection with their romance as a result. The storyline was just OK, not as exciting as previous T-Flac stories.

The book starts off with a bang and holds your interest for the duration of the story. The plot is original and although it is slightly unbelievable it is still fun to read. Max Aries is one sexy hunk of man-flesh!

Max and Emily's chemistry and their love scenes did fall a little flat for me. It seemed Emily had to be constantly rescued. I also thought that some of Max's inner monologue regarding Emily was rather cheesy but hey....he's still hot! I wished the situation with Savage had been handled more directly than indirectly. I kept expecting her to show up in the story. All in all it was a fun read.
