Temptation is always one step ahead, waiting for you to catch up with it. As Allan laments his fate of heartache, the time has come to face an even greater challenge. The temptation of an easy way out is now closer than ever, but will he abandon all his dreams and ideals?
One by one, through hard choices, each a battle to be fought, the walls that kept Marry and Allan apart seem to crumble down. The allure of temptation is always around the corner though, as it always seems easier to lie to yourself than consciously acknowledging the truth.
As Allan experiences disillusionment in the world around him, it seems the redemption he's searching for is much closer than he expected. But it proves to be a hard pill to swallow for his hardened cynicism. He thus sinks deeper into a dark night of the soul.
Will he find within him the power to do what is right, or will he succumb to the bleakness of the easily available?
This is the second book in the trilogy and it's so full of surprises and gems to discover all throughout. The characters are allowing themselves to be discovered even more and let you look right into their souls. Allan continues his search for meaning, he falls into the temptation and allure of the mystery that Ilsa projects on him, yet he finds the will to move aside and look more objectively at what he truly desires. Mary is not just a regular crush anymore but transforms herself, just like a butterfly, into a beautiful strong, still tempered woman who knows what she wants and is determined to get it.
We find out in this book what happened truly at the beginning of Book 1, and we discover with a lot of surprises the turmoil that Allan actually went through and how it all is a story in a story until this point, one meant to purify his soul and destined to be handed, in an extraordinary sign of faith and redemption, to the one he loves.
The end is anything but predictable, you are left not wondering what will happen next, but actually picturing your own version of this story and by then you realize you already became part of it too.
Beautifully written, deeply passionate, poetical in so many ways, incredible characters introspection. A must-read.
In this 2nd book in the Journeys We Wonder series, Allan continues to be disillusioned by the world around him. The plot is fast paced, emotional, thrilling, dramatic, mysterious and thought provoking. I’m really enjoying this series. This review is based on a complimentary copy from the author
