Actor Richard Gere is well known for his outspoken defense of the Tibetan people, his Buddhist beliefs, and his friendship with the Dalai Lama. What is less well known is that Gere has long been a serious and accomplished photographer. The 65 striking photos collected here document Gere's extensive travels in India, Nepal, Zanskar, and Tibet. All of Gere's profits from this book will be donated to Tibetan charities. 64 quadratone illustrations.

This blew my mind. I found this book on the clearance cart at Borders in 1999 and almost wept after I spent an hour looking through it. The imagery is amazing...I had such difficulty believing that it was a book of art created by the same Richard Gere that was in Pretty Woman. It makes sense as he and Herb Ritts were very close friends before his devistating death in 2002, but the work is VERY influenced by Mr. Ritts' style - this gorgeous book was an amazing find for me and one of my favorite books to revist on my shelf

Interesting book of photos with commentary. Many photos are black and white and also have an abstract quality. Worth a look...

Lousy pictures; very good understanding of Buddhism in the introduction.
