Note: this is a review of the 1st edition, published in 1976. There is a 2nd edition, published in 1996.

I stopped on page 62 because I realized that this book, far from being about the joys of engineering, should be titled "Why I think engineers are good people despite the fact that so many people hate us." It's a rare view into how engineers of the 1960s thought about what they did and about the society that they affected, at a time when the unanticipated effects of various technologies were threatening to destroy life on earth in a variety of ways.
