My, my, my, was this book ever hawt! I'm still fanning myself...
Haley Thorn's a 25 year old petite brunette, working as a software developer for a computer company. Haley's just gone through a rough divorce from her abusive, cheating husband, and has buried herself so much in her work that her doctor suggests she needs some rest in order to get rid of her migraine headaches. So Haley takes off for the weekend to the remote cabin in the boondocks that she won in her divorce settlement. While trying to relax by reading a book, she manages to have an erotic dream that feels eerily real to her. The next day while sunning herself, a stranger whose car broke down approaches her for help. OMG, isn't that the same guy (Jay) from her erotic dream?
Jeremy Pickett is a 32 year old workaholic police detective who needs a break. His doctor brother suggests he borrow his cabin for some much needed R & R. When Jeremy's rental car breaks down just short of the cabin, he's forced to make his way on foot. When he spies a curvy, bikini clad beauty sunning herself, his heart skips a beat. It's lust at first sight, and he's got to have her!
After some introductions and some mild flirting, Jeremy takes a chance and invites Haley to his nearby cabin for dinner. Haley thinks it's time she had some real fun instead of just fantasies, and the 6' 2" heavily built, hard-all-over, dimpled hunk is just what the doctor ordered. After comparing stories about why each of them are both at their remote cabins, they realize that they've been set up by the same matchmaking doctor. But they're not complaining. Maybe a weekend fling is just what each of them needs.
Jay (Haley calls him this) is a straightforward guy, and he says what he wants with plenty of blunt, erotic talk. He wants Haley bad, and wants to start off with her in the jacuzzi...and then handcuffed ...and then maybe the shower...and of course the bed. After just one night together they are both blown away by not only their sexual compatibility, but by the way their personalities mesh. Jay knows he's never felt like this before, and has always liked things uncomplicated, but his time with Haley feels different. But he's worried that maybe Haley just wants the weekend. Is it possible for two people to fall in love in just 24 hours?
Anne Rainey has written some hot books, and this one is no exception. Jay is one dominant alpha male, and he majors in dirty talk and pleasing his lady. His scenes with the usually conservative and polite Haley are scorching hot, but he's not an over-the-top alpha. Haley's pleasure is always his number one priority. He sort of reminds me a bit of Lisa Marie Rice's Midnight Series heroes.
I love AR's writing style--it's sexy, exciting, fast paced, and with just enough character development for a short ebook. She writes some pretty scorching hot novellas (Vaughn family series) --I'm dying to see what she could do with a full-length novel. If you've got a couple of hours to spare and you're looking for a hot, sexy read between a hot cop and a self-proclaimed computer geek, this one won't disappoint. A very satisfying 4 1/2 stars.
Warning: This book contains explicit language and sex, including oral, light spanking and the use of handcuffs, and a f/f/m menage dream sequence that includes anal sex. Not for the faint of heart!
Quick--erotic--read. So corny at times I found it comical. Two people set up to meet by a matchmaking (albeit with good intentions) brother to Jay/Jeremy and doctor to Haley.
Very short--117 pages--so not much room for a good plot. This was all about two young, single people looking for peace and quiet and finding love--fast. Nice ending. Unbelievable, but it was a work of fiction.
A smidgeon of "mystical" in the beginning, so fate played a role in their lives as well.
This was a short read, a novella I guess, and it was a very sexy read, but I found it to be well written, and enjoyed it very much. A lot of time there is little or no character development in a short read but Ms Rainey managed to convey the circumstances of both the hero and heroine, even though it wasn't novel length. This is pretty much a love at first sight story, but it worked for me....I would definitely read this one again. Recommend to anyone who likes a good, short, sexy contemporary romance.
Very nice book! I've fallen in love with Jeremy from the beginning (I mean not her dream, but their reality) and I liked Haley too. >She's very smart and sweet. jeremy is sweet too when fall in love with her. And he's really hot and enterprising when comes the time to "go to bed"... or the shower...or the jacuzzi...
It's easy to forget how create erotic romance novels can be. Haley's Cabin has a lot of internal fantasizing and a lot more physicality that plays out in some unusual ways. Her new boyfriend, Jay, is a little obsessed with the macho image and has some odd fantasies about kidnapping Haley, but luckily, he controls that urge. Quick, fun read!
Okay, this was such a bad book! I think 50 Shades of Gray had more plot than this book...it was literally just sex! Lol it was horribly written in my opinion
