Call of the Rockies #5

Faith in the Mountain Valley

Rate this book
This epic journey is the only way to leave her secrets behind.

After eleven years spent looking for the girl who stole his heart, Jean-Jacques Baptiste—better known as French to his friends—is tempted to give up. Until the day he spotted the flaxen-haired stranger traveling the wooded path with Blackfoot Indians. He never imagined he’d find his childhood friend masquerading as a man in this Rocky Mountain wilderness, hundreds of miles from the Canadian town where he last saw her. No matter her reasons, he can’t let her go this time.

Colette Mignon’s life has become a cacophony of lies, including the fact that her Blackfoot Indian companions believe she’s a man. She’s willing to live the taxing life of a trapper in these desolate mountains as long as it keeps her secrets hidden. When her childhood friend and first love discovers her, his determination to help might put everything at risk.

As the worst of her past threatens to catch up with her, the hope for Colette’s new life shatters. But no matter what, she must protect the one good thing that came from all her mistakes. Though French is determined to stay at her side, she can’t let him become entangled in the perilous consequences of her actions. If only it wasn’t so painful to push him away. The danger pressing in may leave her only one choice—leave everything behind…again.

From a USA Today bestselling author comes another epic journey through breathless landscapes and adventure so intense, lives will never be the same.

If you have read the previous books in the Call of the Rockies series, you will recognize that this book is French’s story. French’s real name is Jean-Jacques and we, the reader, discover that he has been searching for his childhood love for eleven years. When he finds her, he is just as honorable and true to her as he has always been. But there is a lot he doesn’t know about Colette’s recent life.

The author did a good job of putting Colette into a situation that forced her to hide who she truly was. She had so many secrets that she was keeping and I really liked seeing her eventually open up to Jean-Jacques, who was a truly good man.

This story can be enjoyed as a stand alone novel if you have not read the other books in the series.

I loved how this book really added some variety to the series! French has been an enigma in the previous books, so it was gratifying to learn his secrets and motivations- ultimately, finding Colette. Colette is disguised as a man since she is on the run, and I thought it was so interesting that she found a place with a small group of Indians who are accepting of her differences. French and Colette's reunion is serendipitous- or providential- and French displayed his unwavering loyalty as he joins her camp and does whatever it takes to be whatever she needs. It takes some time for French to break down her walls, but it was beautiful how their friendship renewed and blossomed into sweet romance. Of course, there is still a good deal of danger and adventure in the wilderness, and I'm always astounded by the resiliency of these outdoorspeople. Colette's internal struggles are evident throughout the story, and only a resolution with her past can allow her to move forward with peace. One of my favorites of the series!

Another compelling, inspirational story from Misty M. Beller! Faith in the Mountain Valley combines Beller’s signature attention to detail, moving faith, and sweet romance. Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down. Readers will love French, Colette, and their companions, and will be thrilled by the adventures they have. I would have liked to see some flashbacks to Colette and French’s childhood, but their adult relationship does not disappoint at all. Beller just really knows how to tell a good story, and Faith in the Mountain Valley is no exception. 4/5 stars

Can the love of a young 13 yr boy to a young girl he knew at a time when they were just children, be as strong as it was as strong than 20 years ago? French is not sure that what he saw, was really what he saw.

French is on his way to the camp of the braves that passed by him to find answers and to check on a gut feeling. Will he deeply regret his newest quest in search for those answers?

One of Misty Beller's most touching books in the series.

Book five in Misty Beller’s Call of the Rockies series, “Faith in the Mountain Valley” takes readers on a journey through future Idaho Territory that is both poignant and inspiring. I am always impressed by this author’s ability to craft a multiplicity of stories with the same general setting and genre without them becoming repetitious or formulaic. Even though I would not consider myself much of a romance fan, I do love this series; it is undeniably romantic, but in a gentle manner, entwined within the Christian message and the adventure of the nineteenth-century wilderness. The stories can be easily transplanted into a contemporary context because the issues that the characters face are relevant across time periods.

Those familiar with the series will recall the group’s storyteller and entertainer, Jean-Jacques Baptiste (nicknamed French), and “Faith in the Mountain Valley” gives us his story. As such, while these books can be read as standalones, I would recommend reading them in chronological order; doing so will provide insight into the characters and nuances of the tales that would otherwise be overlooked. Of the five books in this series thus far, this one is my favorite. French is one of the characters to whom I’ve been the most drawn, and I was glad to find out more of his story, which dovetails with that of Colette Mignon. Interestingly enough, I will admit that she is not my favorite character, but even so, Beller makes her sympathetic by explaining her past, from the time she and her family moved away from Jean-Jacques. One aspect of the characters Beller employs in her novels that I appreciate the most is the inclusion of both whites and Native Americans as both primary and secondary characters. I enjoy learning by observing how their cultures interact with one another, including the various tribes.

Among the most prominent themes in this story are trust of other people and of God, and not running ahead of God and His plan for your life. Jumping to conclusions, while easy to do, rarely brings right assumptions and often results in unnecessary pain. French’s eleven years of searching for Colette reminded me of the Biblical figures who also had to wait, only receiving what they prayed for and were promised when it seemed that all hope was lost. Sometimes we need to be forced to wait in order to understand that ultimately God is the One who provides, and that we are incapable of doing anything without Him. Not only that, but it is in the trials that our faith develops, as Colette reflects: “At first, I was thinking of how much pain we could have missed if we’d reached this point sooner. But then God reminded me how much I’ve grown through the hard times. This moment is so much better for who I’ve become. Who we both are now.” This statement sums up “Faith in the Mountain Valley,” pointing to the blessed Scriptural promise of Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all thing God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

God had never been there for him in the past, and he couldn’t expect Him to help now.

French has been following along with his friends, helping where he can, watching them as they find love and marry, wondering if love is in his future. He had found love in the past, only to lose the lovely Colette when her family moved away. Would he ever find her again, or was he destined to be alone? Will he finally allow the Lord to lead him or will he continue to push Him away?

Colette finds herself with a group of Blackfoot braves, pretending to be a young man in need of friends. But she is hiding more than the fact that she is a woman - what will happen when the others find out? Trusting that God holds her in His hand, she continues on, hoping to remain unknown and safe.

With plenty of gorgeous scenery and lots of detail, the author has once again taken us into the Rocky Mountains and shown us more of what survival was like in the 1830s. The ruggedness, the danger and certainly the weather played a large part in their ability to remain safe and healthy.

This ARC of book 5 in the Call of the Rockies series was received through Misty M Beller Books and CelebrateLit. The comments and impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.

'Why is this happening, God? Why would the Lord bring her to this place of utter misery?'

Misty Beller again takes us back into the wilderness with French's story. He has been with the other folks in the last 4 books and I've been wondering when she would tell his story. She does now and I loved it. French finds the woman he lost years ago and there is something not quite right about her situation. She is traveling with four Indians and things are not what they appear. Can he get through to her and show her he cares about what happens to her? And will Colette finally be able to stop running and attain the peace her soul craves? Well done!

My thanks to Celebrate Lit for a digital copy of this book. The opinion here is my own.

I love that French finally gets to tell his story with this book! When he comes across the woman he loves in the wilderness, pretending to be man to carve out a living, the past feelings come rushing back. I thought that the story was well written, and I loved the historical details. I like how Misty Beller brings history to life, not sugar coating how hard it was to live in the wilderness. This is a well written, historical novel that I highly recommend!

“Trust meant not snatching back the reins every time worry spiked.”

This novel of faith, history, and adventure is as wonderful as the rest of the series, and I was happy to learn about French and his life! The author impressed me with her descriptions that bring the reader into the setting, time period, and lifestyle that boggles the imagination. We continue to follow a group of friends who became like family with each one has been added over 1 ½ years of travel in the Rocky Mountains. The magnificent beauty, raw weather, and deep faith in the Lord that most share is evident in what they do.

French, also known as Jean-Jacques, is a hard-working man. He has a couple secrets he hasn’t shared with the group. He is quick with an entertaining story even as he helps wherever needed in the camp. He remembers every day what he lost, including faith in the Lord, and why he has lived in the wilderness for eleven years.

These friends meet several Blackfoot braves on the trail. As they pass by, French saw who looked to be a young white man following behind. It is the first time he has seen hair that color since Colette, whose had been a shade even lighter. Stunned, he saw a hat covering much of his face. French had not seen the love of his life since they were barely teens and her parents moved her far away. He never heard from her again. He left after his parents died and has searched for Colette since, making a living as a trapper until joining these friends.

The next morning, the young man on the trail was still on his mind, so he left his group to backtrack. Within hours, he learns it is Colette. The braves know her only as Mignon, a young man who wanted to learn to trap to make his way in the world. She refused to give up her secrets, to them or to Jean-Jacques, who she determined she would get rid of as soon as possible. She couldn’t risk trusting anyone again, even the grown-up boy with whom she exchanged promises years ago.

As French tried to regain her trust, Colette’s secrets caught up to her. Rather than risk harm coming to anyone, she left again, this time for good. French tries to find her yet one more time. She has done all she can to cover her tracks, and with the storm rolling in, French couldn’t find her. When all else fails, pray…just in case the Lord will answer this time.

This fifth in series demonstrates a range of emotions, from festering grief, fear, and outright terror to joy and awe. The range of relationship with the Lord, from anger to growing daily, is also depicted honestly. While separated by nearly two centuries and vastly different lifestyles, Colette and Jean-Jacques experience many of the same struggles and needs that we do. The end was absolutely different and better than I anticipated, and I am looking forward to the next in series! While each novel can stand alone, it might be beneficial to read them in order. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys faith-filled historical Christian novels with romance and great adventure.

From a thankful heart: I received an eARC of this novel from the publisher and Celebrate Lit, and this is my honest review.

The author has such a great way of taking you directly into the story as you see the mountains around you. The beauty of the land surrounds you as you watch traps being set. Living out here is hard and dangerous. The weather doesn’t always cooperate and survival is difficult for some. I immediately became engrossed in the story when Colette hides a secret from the men she is traveling with. Everything seemed to be going well until a childhood friend discovers her on the trail. How will she convince her friend to keep her secret? Will her emotions draw her close to Jean -Jacque or will she keep her distance from him?

The details of skinning an animal was good but hard to read. The author always does in-depth research to make her stories historically correct. I love how she gives life into every word that scatters across the pages that make the story believable. Poor Colette is having a rough time out there in the wilderness and soon she may have her secret exposed. Jean-Jacque is very helpful and tries to make things easier for Colette. I couldn’t wait to find out what she is hiding.

The journey into the woods becomes dangerous as Colette becomes ill. Her strength is slowly slipping away. I loved her determination to survive as she calls out to God for help. Her prayers are strong as she asks God to help her. Oh how I enjoyed Jean-Jacque finding her. He is an answer to prayer. His emotions are strong as he cares for Colette . Will she open up to him and share her secret?

As Colette tries to hide her secret her past starts to catch up with her. Danger is close by and she knows she needs to flee before she is seen by someone from her past. This part of the story is so well written I was holding my breath as she decides what to do. I loved the lessons on trusting God to give them wisdom and learning to forgive and let go of the past. I’m sorry to see the story end because it was so beautifully written.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Faith in the Mountain Valley by Misty M. Beller is book five in the Call of the Rockies series. This novel follows French as he searches for his childhood friend and long-lost love, Colette. But Colette is doing her best not to be found by anyone, especially the men hunting her.
The Call of the Rockies series has been one epic adventure after another. But with each new story, we get a deeper insight into one of the characters, and I was excited to finally get to know French beyond the tall tales he shared around the fire.
French (Jean-Jacques) and Colette”s friendship/love started when they were children struggling to find peace and happiness outside of their turbulent homes. Their history together is sweet, yet carries its own pain and hardship. I loved how a teasing smile or simple gesture can bring back past moments together. It’s why I love second-chance romance. The characters automatically have a stronger connection from the start. And French’s determination to find Colette after many years of separation will pull your heartstrings. He was completely dedicated to her even after so many years. It was a lovely surprise to find such a tender-hearted man behind all those wild stories.
This story is a page-turner. Danger, secrets, high stakes, and the challenges of surviving in the wild make you keep reading one more chapter. I could not rest until I knew what became of French and Colette.
And even though most of the crew from the beginning of this book series didn’t make much of an appearance in French’s story, I loved it just the same. The Blackfoot men Colette was traveling with were honorable and interesting, and I really enjoyed learning about the simple tasks the trappers completed each day.
Overall, I loved French and Colette’s story. Fans of Christian historical fiction will enjoy this story, especially those who love a good adventure out west.

I love this author and I have honestly not read any of her books that I did not absolutely love. I’m loving this series and can’t wait for the next book to come out as soon as I finish the one I’m on. Fun fact, I pass on the books once I’m done with them because I have other friends who are just as addicted to her books as me!

This Rockies series is all historical fiction. While you’re not seeing actual characters they are representing those who did live and go through this. Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres ever.

In Faith in the Mountain Valley, we focus on French who we have met in previous books. He lost his heart to a woman 11 years ago and then has not seen her since. When he finally finds her she’s posing as a man and trapping with Indian braves. How can he find out why and how and get her back to him as his love without endangering her life.

Talk about love! I loved this book and you get a complicated love story as well as history. You are going to love reading about this couple and finding their ending as much as I did. Don’t wait to get your copy! While you can read each book in this series as a stand alone title I feel they’re best read as a series starting with book one.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received through Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. Love this series and this one is my favorite so far. We know French from our travels for the first four books. He is the story teller and the reliable friend that has been there as all his other friends have found their loves. He isn't envious of them but he longs for his true love, Colette, that he has been searching for ever since her family moved away eleven years ago. When he catches a glimpse of a young boy with the same color hair as his Colette he must check to make sure it isn't Colette. Could it be, surely not but he must know.

Colette is running from trouble and she has taken refuge with a band of Blackfoot Indians that believe she is a young boy. She must protect her identity to stay safe even though this is the hardest thing she has ever done. When her long lost love, Jean-Jacques shows up she doesn't know how long she can keep her secrets safe.

This is a great story and the characters are all great and I was pulled in to their lives. I could say so many things about this book but don't want to give any of it away so just know it is great and I loved it and hope you do too.

I received an early copy to read and review with my honest opinion. I loved it and highly recommend it. It's very well written, the characters are all well thought out and it keeps you guessing as to what will happen. We are still on our journey with our ever growing band of friends and there will be more to come after this one.

This is another beautiful book in a beautiful series. This story is about French and Colette. French is a nickname. French’s actual name is Jean-Jacques. He and Colette have known each other since they were children. They made promises to each other when they were separated against their will as teenagers. French has been searching for a long time. He has been traveling with a group of friends that have come to be more like family. Some of the previous volumes in this series have been about the relationships of various members of this group. Some romantic and some not. They happen to come across Blackfoot Braves and traveling with them is a white person. They are unable to tell if it is a man or woman based on their clothing. But French catches the blonde hair and based on the shade he suspects it is Colette or someone related to her; because he has never seen anyone else with that shade. So he takes his leave from his friends to check the person out.

The characters are very well developed. I meant French in previous volumes as well as other members of the caste. There are several new characters in this book including Colette. Colette is on the run. There are many twists and turns as you wind your way to the end. I like how the story ends. The storyline includes scripture, faith, and prayers; but is not preachy. There isn’t any profanity and no sexually explicit dialogue. This Author is an excellent storyteller.

My review today is on the western romance, Faith in the Mountain Valley. This is book 5 in the series Call of the Rockies. I'm always thrilled when Mistie sends me a new story. Her books take you right into the cold, ice, and snow of the mountains. They are so well written you just can't put them done. I know you are going to love it.

Jean-Jacques Baptiste was riding with his good friends. They were more like his family. They are all couples now and he is feeling very alone. He has been searching all over the wilderness for his childhood sweetheart. Suddenly he thinks he sees her ride by. He leaves his friends and goes after her. When he finds her she is posing as a young boy while living with several Blackfoot Indians. He joins the group as her friend. He can't lose her again.

Colette Mignon has become a part of a group of Blackfoot Indians. She is hiding out as a man leading the life of a trapper. She is hiding from the family of her abusive husband. When her husband attacked her, she has had enough and fights back. Her husband died and she ran. She must keep her secret from her husband's family.

A journey traveling through the Rockies. Fearing the family of her dead husband. They must survive. God has a plan for these two, a good plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too even in this time of chaos. Give Him your heart and watch Him turn your life around.

Faith in the Mountain Valley is a Christian Historical Fiction book that is written by Misty M. Beller. This book is Call of the Rockies series. I have read a few of the books in the series, but not all of them. One of the things that I love about this author is her dedication to research. Every book about Native Americans that she writes teaches you so much. I love the details she puts in her books so that it is as real feeling as possible. This is French's story. We have met French in the other books, and I am glad that he was able to get his own story.

French has been searching for the girl that he remembers from many years ago. When he finally finds her, he notices she is not the same girl that he remembers. Something is off. He has such a deep affection for her that he wants to stand by her side no matter what.

Colette has been disguising herself as a man. The Blackfoot Indian companions that she has been traveling with believe she is a man. She has so many secrets that she keeps buried that she just keeps going one foot in front of the other. She has a strong desire to keep French safe from her web of lies - but he is so determined to help her.

I loved seeing the characters grow throughout this story. I loved the chemistry between French and Colette. This story will come to life as you read with the authors descriptions.

I always enjoy reading books by Misty M. Beller. Faith in the Mountain Valley is no different. Call of the Rockies series continues with book 5. We get a brief glimpse of all the characters we have come to love throughout the series, but this book focuses on French and his quest to find the love of his life, Colette. French sees someone in a passing group of Blackfoot who reminds him of his love from childhood. He leaves his friends to follow this group in order to determine whether or not it truly is Colette. If it is - what has happened in her life since her parents moved away from French and why is she with a group of Blackfoot braves? If you have enjoyed Beller’s previous books, you will enjoy Faith in the Mountain Valley. I had anticipated that this book would be the end of the Call of the Rockies series as we have now focused on each of the friends introduced in the first book. I was pleasantly surprised to learn it is not the end of the series. I can’t wait to read the next one.
As with the other books in the series, Faith in the Mountain Valley could find a place in a K-12 Christian school library. It is an adult historical fiction novel, but it is appropriate for older middle school and high school students.
I received a complimentary copy of Faith in the Mountain Valley. This is my honest review.

Faith in the Mountain Valley is book five in the Call of the Rockies series. I’ve read a few of the other books, and was really excited to read French’s story beyond his story telling around the camp fire. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put this book down.

This novel follows the character French as he searches for his childhood friend and long-lost love, Colette. But Colette is running from trouble, and doing her best not to be found by anyone, especially the men hunting her. She’s taken refuge amongst a group of Blackfoot Indians, pretending to be a young man in need of friends … all while hiding a few secrets.

There is so much I could say about this book, but I don’t want to give away any spoilers. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy christian historical romance. You will love reading how the characters grow in their faith with God, and learn how to trust Him more, and each other. I promise, this book is so good! I am looking forward to book six from the Call of the Rockies series, Honor in the Mountain Refuge.

Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book via Celebrate Lit. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

Colette and French- separated for years but are they destined to be together? What does GOD plan for their future?

GOD was with Colette every step of the way.  He guided her.  He protected her.  He led her to the decision she had to make. Colette listened when HE spoke to her.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5, 6).

Colette and French were fortunate enough to be surrounded by people that became their family. They were not related in any way.  They were from different cultures and races.  But  they were there for each other especially in their time of need.

Do you have friends that you can call family?  I am fortunate enough to have friends that I call family.  With families living in different locations from each other, friends are so important.

I have loved every book by Misty B. Beller.  She paints a picture with her words.  Her characters become real to me.  She truly has a gift.

I received this ebook for free to give a honest review for Celebrate Lit.

When we were little, my grandmother had a secondhand wedding dress she let us play with. It had the long train and veil that dragged several feet behind a grown woman. We spent so many fun hours dressing up and pretending. And of course, there were all the times my older brother and I played cowboys as we rode our horses.

With so much experience playing dress-up and “let’s pretend,” I thoroughly enjoyed writing the story of a heroine who pretended to be a man! And not just a fellow around town. She joined up with a group of five Blackfoot braves and attempted to pass herself off as a man for weeks while she lived in their camp, trapping alongside them!

She had a good reason for attempting the ruse, and you can find out if she pulls it off in Faith in the Mountain Valley. This might be my favorite of all the books in the Call of the Rockies series. I pray you enjoy it too!

If you have been keeping up with the Call of the Rockies series by Misty M. Beller you know you are in for a great adventure with this book! It was truly a book filled with adventure, love, and faith; not to mention some great historical facts. I have read this series from the beginning, and I love how Misty M. Beller has developed this family of characters and I have been looking forward to reading French’s story from the beginning, to not give anything away… He is one of my favorite characters now 😊.

I think I say this with every Misty M. Beller book I read, however, it bears repeating. Misty M. Beller, has one of the best pull you in, and immerse you voices in writing I have ever had the pleasure of reading. From the vivid locational details that leave you feeling like YOU are in the mountains, or to her accurate descriptions of period life. I always leave her books feeling like I have truly made new friends in her characters.

I give Faith in the Mountain Valley 5 Stars (and it may or may not be my new favorite story in the series!)

This book focuses on God, growing, learning to be open,
trusting the lord, the reminder of how our flesh can lead when we’re not looking, fear misleads us out of God’s plan if we don’t focus on him. I personality love the romance in the book series because it’s God centered but also so innocent and sweet! Making me giggle so many times.

As a Christian girl who wants to keep her mind pure but doesn’t want to sacrifice the quality, this book is definitely for you. It made me kick my feet, squeal, laugh, cry, and all of the above. I loved this book so much, I even finished the last portion in a night… when I told myself I’d go to bed early…. Anyway! I love misty m beller’s writing.
I was very skeptical of the series since it was more western?? Idk the right wording, but it’s more adventurous then most books I read, and different topics since taking place in the wilderness, but it proved It was worth the read. I was gifted this set, and I even gave the first one to my bestfriend and she loves it!!! One of her favorite things, along with mine, was the way it read like a movie, so it helped produce pictures in your head of each scene.

Faith in the Mountain Valley by Misty M Beller is book five in the Call of the Rockies series. This is a series that does reference characters from previous stories, so it is best to read them in order. Since last seeing each other, Colette and Jean-Jacques lives have taken many twist and turns. Colette married an abusive man who died leaving her with child. To avoid being found out she pretends to be a boy. She joins up with a small group of trappers and learns the trade. All this time Jean-Jacques has been looking for her.

This is a nice story that covers topics such as abuse and murder. It also shows the strength Colette has and what she will do to save her and her unborn child’s lives. I found this story a little harder to get into than the rest but once I got acquainted to the characters I found it to be a good story. I especially enjoyed the reaction Colette and her former brother-in-laws had when the met again. I enjoyed the care the men showed toward her and how they kept her secret.

I received a complimentary copy of this story, this is my honest review.

Faith in the Mountain Valley is the fifth book in Misty M. Beller's Call of the Rockies series. French's character has previously been introduced in the prior books in the series, but it can certainly be read as a standalone nonetheless.

Having read a few novels by Misty M. Beller by now, one thing has become quite evident: she is a fantastic storyteller who has a great way of bringing readers into a different place and time effortlessly. Faith in the Mountain Valley was absolutely no exception... I was once again drawn in by the fantastic descriptions that transported me right to the cold of the mountains. The characters were likewise beautifully written, drawing me into their lives and wanting to learn more about them. I enjoyed seeing French and Colette's relationship play out. The story offered a great blend of adventure, romance and faith that I couldn't help but enjoy.

Overall, I found this to be a good read that fans of historical romance are sure to want to check out.

**I received a complimentary copy of this book for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

I think "Faith in the Mountain Valley" by Misty M. Beller is my favorite of the series. It is the fifth in the series. I am glad I have read the previous book but I believe a reader could enjoy this book as a standalone, but I really encourage readers to read the entire series as all the books feature the same characters, each book tells one character's tale in detail. The author's writing has a reader seeing the scenes played as they are reading the words.

"Faith In The Mountain Valley " is the story of French's rescue of his only love who he has been looking for eleven years.

I read this book as fast as I could because I wanted to see if Colette's secret was found out and if she had a happy ending! The ending certainly was different than I was expecting!
This novel is a tale of doing what you think is right to protect someone else but then realizing that you need to ask God to go before you and trusting Him instead of your own instincts.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

As we join Misty Beller and continue our journey through the CALL OF THE ROCKIES series we enter a new adventure via "FAITH IN THE MOUNTAIN VALLEY". This is French's story. As French travels along with Beaver Tail and the rest of his friends, he reminisces about Collette, the woman who made hime feel happy and peaceful. Would he ever see her again? Will God restore peace, happiness, and love to his life again?

As he ponders these thoughts a group of Indians come riding up. Are they friend or foe? Is the group about to be ambushed> Who is the mysterious young white lad who is riding along with the Indian braves? Or wait - is it a young lad or a woman? One of the braves wife perhaps?

A wonderful story of faith and love mixed with suspense awaits you. Misty Beller has done it again. She has created a Historical Fiction story that will keep you breathless with suspense, make you laugh and cry, filled with faith and love!

I continue to be amazed at the new plot lines the author comes up with for similar settings. Her exciting historical novels are fun to read, and you learn what life was like in the northwest wilderness in those tough days. It’s also great to see Native people as friends and working together with whites—a good example for modern times. In this tale, a young widow pretending to be a man has joined with several Native men trapping game for furs. When an old friend spots her, he thinks he’s finally found the woman he loves and had hoped to marry. But too many things seem to stand in their way. The adventure and surprises make for a rousing story. It seems realistic and plausible, with true-to-life characters. The book also contains a strong faith element. It can stand alone but does continue the story flowing through this whole series. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. all opinions are my own.

This book is one in a series, but I read it and enjoyed it just fine as a stand alone. I absolutely love the way the author describes the scenes. You can actually see the views she is describing. The writing style is wonderful. I've read a couple in this series and knew some of the characters and it was great seeing the story unfold.

I loved the characters and the issues they had to go through. I felt for them. I loved Colette and French. Just a great story all the way around and I plan to go back in and read the previous books and connect with all of the characters just to get an overall feel.

4/5

Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book via Celebrate Lit. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

Faith in the Mountain Valley is the fifth installment from Misty M Beller’s Call of the Rockies series. I have had the pleasure of reading the first four books of the series and was excited to get hands on this one. This one has got to be my favorite. I adored Colette and French’s story. They are the type of characters that I was able to relate and connect with. I loved every single page and could not put it down until I was finished in one sitting.

Faith in the Mountain Valley will be getting a very well deserved five plus stars from me. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean and inspirational historical romance. I am looking forward to book six from the Call of the Rockies series, Honor in the Mountain Refuge.

I received a copy of Faith in the Mountain Valley from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Throughout the series, we have found French, Jean-Jacques Baptiste, involved in tracking, protecting, cooking, hunting, trapping and all sorts of tasks the group needed. Along the trail, each person looked for something or someone and French was no different. Eleven years ago, his childhood friend Colette Mignon, left his life and he has hoped to find her somewhere here in the mountains or villages. They had made promises to each other that they would be together but life has a way of interfering and changes were made. Finding her on the trail with a group of Blackfoot Indian companions, was the last place he would have looked. This story-line is involved, tasks are many, and, lives are changing. We have several women with child, men who have found peace, and, God at the helm of their lives. It’s a wonderful read!
