I learned that I could sleep while reading.
I learned that no matter how wet you get the pages of a book by the pool, it will always dry and you can continue to plow thru it no matter how boring it is.....upside? Cool black and white photos which Barbara obviously did not sanction....couldn't sell it a garage sale

Fairly engorssing, if predictable life story of a woman who gave up an emotional, connected life for a successful career. I actually found more interesting the tragic tale of her father, Lou Walters, the gambling-addicted club entrepeneur.

A contact who has met Barbara described her to me as "brittle". It doesn't suprise me that he'd describe her as brittle. The book certainly painted a picture of a woman domineering and success-oriented despite herself. It isn't a surprise to me when a bully turns out to be a coward, It doesn't surprise me that someone with such overt confidence actually conceals some insecurity of like scale.

Was a little disappointed. I felt she still kept you at arms length. No doubt she is an incredible women but she never quite show any vulnerability.
