Marilyn

Rate this book
Beautiful, sexy, funny, and talented, Marilyn Monroe was an icon, not only for America, but for the world. Typecast as the original dumb blonde, she gained fame in classic movies like Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, The Seven Year Itch, and How to Marry a Millionaire. She married America’s greatest sporting hero and then one of America’s most renowned intellectuals before wowing critics with her performance in Bus Stop. She won a Golden Globe Award for her role in Some Like it Hot and seemingly privately serenaded the President of the United States in front of tens of thousands at Madison Square Garden. This is the unseen and the beloved Marilyn—from her unhappy childhood to her tragic death—who is still touching the hearts of millions.

Nice pictures and not all of them the "same ol' same ol'"... And of course they are nice, they are of Marilyn! BUT the text?????? OH-MY-GOD (Pronounced in a way Janice does in Friends)... how does one manage to make so many mistakes in a frigging picture book???? Even in the dates and discriptions under the photos... GIMME A BREAK... I was hoping we're past all this Slatzer crap, but obviously not... But even the pics.... he gets the photographers, years etc... all wrong... okay, I won't get started but... OMG OMG OMG... if you happen to come across this, just look at the pics, please... ;)

The pictures are lovely (of course) but the author got a lot of things wrong. Dates, photographers, etc. Ridiculous.

3 stars only for the great pictures of Marilyn.

PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT OR BUY THIS BOOK. THE INFORMATION IN IT IS INACCURATE. THE CATEGORY FOR THIS BOOK SHOULD BE LABELED FICTION. IT'S ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING ON THE THINGS HE SAYS ABOUT MARILYN MONROE. I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY OR SUPPORT THIS BOOK. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT MARILYN, THIS BOOK IS NOT SOMEWHERE TO GO.

INFORMATION THAT IS INCORRECT IN THE BOOK:
- She never had abortions and always wanted her own child
- The photo of her with two other girls in a boat. They're not her friends. It was a modeling shoot.
- She never had a baby that was taken away from her.
- She had trouble getting pregnant and had 3 miscarriages.
- She did not have a diagnosed mental illness. She has anxiety, and depression. Including insomnia.
- She started modeling in 1945 and was married in 1942. (page 22.)
- Grace McKee did not arrange any marriage. pg 22
- The information about her hanging out with younger boys & girls is false.
- All the information in this book should not have any reflection on who Marilyn Monroe was or her history. The information placed in the book is false. Please do not read it, it's garbage.

Visually stunning, but the biographical text is rather inaccurate and that spoiled it for me.
