alright. this was advertised to me on facebook and i just HAD to listen to it for the meme, right? cause like… as a former mizzou student, frat bros got that reputation for being shitty ass abusive men. and the COVER of this thing — a shitty lookin “diary of wimpy kid” kid on the front. then i saw it was tagged “lgbtq+” and i was like HOW???

it’s a “well my daddy drives a mercedes” type beat with no women / trans / gnc people!

so the kid is 14 and basically an incel young sheldon. many of the frat bros are gay (totally inaccurate to real life) which is cool, but they’re fucking creepy towards the 14 yr old. everyone wants to fuck the literal child, they LITERALLY call him “jailbait” !!! all the gay men in this novel are homophobic stereotypes and it made me super uncomfortable. and before you ask — yeah the 14 year old talks about masturbating and fucking in EXTREME detail. like hella nsfw!!!! like damn bitch this isn’t game of thrones!!!!

my favorite part of it (despite the horrible, confusing pacing, boring ass characters with no personality other than being horny, and terrible elementary school diction) was when richard (the 14 year old) makes out with a fucking GHOST at his “bro’s” literal mansion. WHERE DID THAT COME FROM??? it was so fucking bizarre.

so i guess ANYONE can really publish ANYTHING, huh?

in conclusion, this is a book for pedophiles. so many queer coming of age novels are SO MUCH BETTER than this shit. i hate 14 year olds. fuck you richard k arbuckler the third i fuckin hate your stupid ass!!!

Another great entry from mark Roeder. This author never fails to amaze me with his character description and plotting. I always want to know more about each character when the book is over.
Mark writes a remarkable story of teen love between two boys without the need for excessive sexual content. He also avoids profanity for the most part and that is something I also like about his books.
Richard and James are not typical teens as they are both of genius level intelligence and attend college. They do have a comfortable relationship and I would love to see how it progresses in a future book.

Nice coming of age story

Good Short story about a genius, coming into his own in college. I would recommend this story to anyone to read.

Boring and predictable

It was hard for me to finish this book, because it was so boring, but I pushed myself through to the end, even while it got less and less interesting with each chapter.

Almost zero conflict. The protagonist is totally unrealistic. In real life, nobody goes around telling everyone they meet that they’re a genius. I know, because I went to school with plenty of geniuses. Among my Princeton University classmates, we had a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old (I was friends with the 15-year-old), as well as hundreds of other geniuses of normal age, and absolutely nobody ever, ever called themself (or any of our classmates) a genius.

All the characters in this book are exactly the same. Every one of them is described by the author as handsome, athletic, muscular, with a great body. All of them (with one exception) are unbelievably nice and kind, especially to the 15:year old gay boy who goes around telling everyone that he’s so much smarter than them because he’s a “genius.” Unrealistically, about 50% of the college kids and their friends are gay, and the other 50% are gay-friendly.

There were no interesting or unusual characters, (again, they were all exactly the same), except perhaps the teenage ghost, Etienne, but he had a very minor role in the story.

You’ve all heard the saying “This book was so good that I couldn’t put it down,” but this book was the OPPOSITE. I struggled to make the effort to pick up the book and read some more of it, because it was soooooooo boring, which is why it took weeks or months to finish it. I was hoping it would improve, but it online became more and more boring, dull, tedious, pointless, and predictable.

INTERESTING. not what i expected.

Mark this is an amazing well done story. I could not stop reading and listening to it. I had no idea it tied into another story I read of your. The narrator you used is awesome. Keep adding the audios and I will keep using them. Lover your stories.
